He kneeled down next to her with a smile. "Well, it can be pretty difficult to start so I don't blame you. Here, let me show you." He took her through the steps, guiding her slowly.

When the they finally start a fire, she hugs him enthusiastically. "Thank you so much! I'll have to remember that." All of a sudden she let go of Jay and pounced on the ground. She sat there for a minute, just staring, then held up her find to him. "I caught a lizard!"

@Toaster group

"Yep!" She sat the lizard on his head. "Imma name 'em Skylar! It's a unisex name, so I don't have to change it when I find out what they are. My name's also unisex!" she stated proudly.

Before they knew it, they were heading back to the cafeteria for dinner. "Ugh, the day's almost over! I wish we had more time." Angel complained. After they ate they would have to head back to they're cabins. She'd be lying if she said she didn't want to spend more time with him.

He climbed up into his bunk, he always picked the top bunk since he loved being up high, and laid down to stare at the ceiling. He listened to the loud chatter of the rowdy group of boys around him, trying to block them out.

@Toaster group

Angel had picked a top bunk in the back of the room, near a window with pitch black curtains. She laid under the covers and snuggled up to her stuffed unicorn that she brought. She couldn't wait for tomorrow to come.

Jay had to stay up later than most so his medicine could kick in otherwise he'd never get any sleep. Jay had to take sleeping pills on the regular. Damn insomnia.

The next morning at breakfast, Angel's hair was messy and she was wearing the same clothes as yesterday. "So, what do you want to do? We have free time until lunch." she asked as she scooped a spoonful of cereal.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Honestly? I was just planning on sitting by the lake and drawing. I mean, it's a pretty good view and I brought my sketchbook for a reason." He bit into his toast, only half awake.

@Toaster group

"Cool! I didn't know you could draw." She leaned on the table, her eyes sparkling with admiration. I've finally found another artist! This must be fate! Not that she believed in fate. She was just so excited.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Yeah, neither do most people here." He chuckled. "I mostly stick to realism, though you may find a few anime doodles in there every once in a while."

@Toaster group

"I usually just do random patterns. Every now and then I'll do some cartoonish fan art or something." she replied as she finished her food.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"I like doing sceneries. They calm me down. Although I do have a few drawings of people. But not many." That was because he only drew people that he really cared about. In that list of people he had his parents, his sister and Mama Jill.

@Toaster group

"Yeah. You know that one painting by Vincent van Gogh? 'Starry Night' I think it's called. I love that one!" She loved all kinds of art, but that piece was one of her favorites.
(I'm not doing so hot rn, so my responses might be short and far apart. Sorry.)

@Elder-God-Jacks347

(It's all good! Take your time!)
"Really? Hmm. Interesting." He finished his toast and grabbed his bag. "Well, I'm heading down to the lake. Don't wait up." He gave her a smile and a wink before heading out.

@Toaster group

(Thank you)
She froze up and blushed a fierce pink when Jay winked at her. She managed to shake it off after a second and when she caught up with him, playfully bumped into him. "You are really fast."

Angel ran and sat down on the edge of the dock, dangling her bare feet into the water. She sighed in content, relishing the feel of the cold water on her legs. It was a nice contrast to the morning summer heat. The red sun was still low in the sky, oranges, yellows and pinks flying about in the clouds.

He took a seat behind her, up on the grassy hillside. He pulled out his sketchpad and quickly flipped to a new page, instantly setting to work drawing the scene in front of him. He only hoped that she would stay there so he could get her in shot with the beautiful sunrise.

@Toaster group

(Dude, that made my day. So wholesome.πŸ’œ)
Every now and then she would swing her feet back and forth, and hummed some catchy tunes she had heard on the radio as she smiled up at the sky. "It's really pretty. I'm glad we woke up this early. Aren't you?" she sighed. She had always been so amazed by nature's beauty. It surprised her at every turn.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

(Gotta have some good wholesomeness in there)
He didn't answer, totally absorbed in his sketchpad. He focused in on details, trying to make it look as realistic as possible. He wanted it to be like a photograph come to life. He chewed on his lip as he worked, eyes constantly flicking from the page to the scene in front of him and then back down.

@Toaster group

When she heard only the chirping of birds instead of an answer, she looked over her shoulder to see Jay busy with his sketchbook. She couldn't help but give a small smile at the sight before turning back around.

His lines were quick and sporadic but still clean and accurate. It didn't take him long to finish the linework. It was the color that was going to be an issue. He took a few quick color swatches, mixing his colored pencils and gel pens together to get a deeper color so the image would seem brighter and more lifelike.

After a few minutes of doing nothing, Angel decided to be stupid. Hey, let's see how long we can stare at the sun before our eyes hurt. She lasted 11 seconds. "Welp, I'm temporarily blinded now." Her body shook slightly from her laughter. Why it was funny, she didn't know.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

He continued his coloring, wanting to finish the sky before the sun fully rose and ruined the illusion. He chewed on his lip harder, trying to focus.

Once her vision had cleared, she spotted some fish swimming around her feet and decided to watch them for a while. They were small and blueish, silver looking but she couldn't tell what kind they were. There were also minnows, which she proceeded to try and catch.
