”I’d rather spend eternity with as a vampire, able to help protect you and our children… to fight alongside you than to be a weak and helpless target for someone else to tear apart… just to hurt you more.” he told her, his eyes tearing up a little as his voice cracked towards the end.

He shook his head a little. ”I only thought I did. I thought I missed it because, at the time, I didn't have a choice.” he explained softly. ”That’s what really bothered me. Not being able to choose… but now, I’ve made my choice.” he said, giving her a small smile.

" I need to tell you something" she said

”What is it?” he asked gently.

" I got a job" she said

”Really? That's great!” he smiled happily. ”What kind of job is it?”

" The FBI'' she said

He blinked a little, surprised by her answer. ”As in the actual government agency?”

" as in I'm on a team and I get a gun and I help people ''she said

”Wow… I…” he stammered for a moment as he tried to collect his thoughts. ”That’s incredible. Congratulations.” he smiled sincerely.

She sighed " I start in two days " she said

”Two… you could have given me more of a warning.” he sighed, holding her close. ”Just promise me one thing about your job?”

" what is it?" She asked

”Promise me you’ll be careful… and that you’ll always try to come home.” he said softly.

" i promise " she said kissing his forehead

”Thank you, my love.” he sighed with a small smile.

She smiled softly

He smiled a little back at her.

She kissed his shoulder

”I love you.” he whispered, kissing the top of her head. ”And I’m very proud of you.”

He smiled softly at that and hugged her. ”Did you need our marriage license for your new job?”

" i just needed everything organized is there a reason you keep it in your bedside table?"

He blushed a little. ”I had Evan bring it up before… before you turned me human to heal so I could have it nearby. You know, in case… I thought it would help me remember how much I loved you. Turns out I didn't need it.”

She smiled softly gently laying her head on his shoulder

He gave a small, slightly embarrassed, smile and held her close.

" I'm going to put the kids to bed" she said
