(Of course! Before I start, I actually have to draw Phoenix lol. I've never actually had the chance to do so, so I should probably officially establish his appearance before drawing aha)
"I'll tell you." Phoenix nodded softly, dropping his gaze to their hands. A genuine smile pulled up as he let himself get distracted by their fingers. "And I mean… yeah. I guess so."
(That, that would be a good idea lol)
Cicada's smile grew as she saw Phoenix seemingly relax for a moment. She let out a little laugh, "I'm glad. Want to brainstorm stupid ideas for why it could be? Like there's some invisible creature haunting you?"
(Loll, I'll have to work on it tomorrow, as I'm headed off for the night.)
"Oh that would be awful… I don't like that idea." Phoenix laughed lightly, bringing her hand up to kiss the back of it. He kept a light smile up, holding on tightly to her hand. "But I mean, who would?"
(Okay night!)
"Who really would?" Cicada laughed as she watched him. Maybe it would have been a better idea to sit next to him rather than across. Was it too late to move herself? She gave him a smile, "Creeps maybe?"
"Mm, maybe. But I don't think of myself as a creep, so I definitely don't like it." Phoenix snickered a little, smiling over to her. Gently he pulled her hand up to his cheek, leaning in to it when he did.
"I don't think your a creep either," cicada responded as she carefully rubbed her thumb against his cheek. She had a soft smile on and bit her lip before asking, "Do you mind if I move so I can sit next to you?"
“What?” Phoenix asked lightly, glancing up at her. “Oh- no I don’t mind. Not in the slightest actually.” He smiled lightly, letting go of her hand so she could move like she had asked. Scooting his chair over a little, he offered the spot next to him, for her to sit.
Cicada smiled and moved over so she was in the chair next to him. This felt much nicer than sitting across from him like she had been doing earlier. She smiled up at him, "Uh thanks. Oh hey look pizza."
"Hmm?" Phoenix hummed lightly, wrapping an arm loosely over her shoulders. When he saw the waitress come with the pizza, things clicked in his head as a smile pulled up. "Oh- sorry, I'm slow."
Cicada laughed a little as she possibly leaned against him. She was half tempted to pull away once she saw the waitress, but she didn't. Her eyes followed the pizza and the plates, "You're fine! But do you want first picks at the slices."
Phoenix shrugged a little, nodding his thanks to the waitress when the pizza was set in front of them. Leaning over he gently rested his head against hers. "I don't care. If you want it, you can go first."
"Okay," Cicada moved her arm and grabbed two slices. She put them both on her plate being careful not to move and disturb Phoenix, "I was just making sure you didn't want smaller slices or something like that."
"Mm, nope. I'm hungry, I don't want little slices." Phoenix snickered lightly, lifting his head just a bit. Grabbing his own pizza, he let it sit on his plate to cool down. "I could also stand to gain a few pounds."
"Yeah, you're a skinny boy," Cicada teased him a little bit poking his side. She reached for one of her slices to start eating a big grin on, "Not that it's a bad thing or something like that."
Phoenix huffed a little, squirming when she poked him. "Being too skinny is. I don't think I'm quite there, though. I've seen worse, before." He mumbled, reaching out for his lemonade. "The poor girl needed serious help."
"Yeah," Cicada replied quietly before taking a bite of her pizza. She had seen worse, she had been worse. But she was better now, a lot better now. It was in her past and there was no need to be brought up, "But you're fine at the moment."
"Mhmm. And that's all that matters." Phoenix hummed softly, setting his cup aside. Reaching out to take his plate, he started to eat slowly. "What about you? Are you alright?"
"I mean yeah," Cicada responded leaning away from him so she could seat easier. She mustered up the confidence from earlier before it deflated a little, "I look great and I feel great so clearly I'm fine."
"That is not true." Phoenix said simply, pushing his plate away so he could rest his elbow on the table. Giving her an expectant look, he waited a couple of seconds before speaking. "Well? What's going on?"
"Nothing, well nothing now," Cicada caved in eventually. She let out a sigh as she put her pizza back on her plate, "I used to have problems, but I got over them. You don't have to worry about it Phoenix."
"It's too late for that. Do you want to talk about it, or just let it go?" Phoenix asked softly, reaching out to take her hand. "I'll happily do either. I just want to make sure you're okay."
"Just let it go. It was way back in high school and like I said, I'm fine now," Cicada replied letting him take her hand. She reached for her pizza and took another bite, "So don't worry got it?"
"I'll do my best not to. I can't promise I won't ever worry." Phoenix told her before letting go of her hand, and starting to eat. "I'd be lying to your face if I said I never worried."
"I know you would be," Cicada let out a laugh as she continued to eat. She gave him a half smile, "You're just a worrisome person."
"Only about the people I love and care about." Phoenix hummed a little, sipping from his lemonade. He felt a smile pull up as he did so. "And it just so happens," He started, setting his cup down. "You're one of those people."
Cicada blushed lightly as she took a sip from her soda. She, she didn't really think of herself being like that to him. But if he said so then it must be true right? She gave him a light smile, "You're, you're one of those people too."
"Am I now? Well, that's nice to hear." Phoenix hummed lightly, giving her a bright smile. He knew she meant it, but it didn't exactly feel the same. Maybe it was because she had just agreed with him. Pushing the thoughts out of his head, he continued smiling.
"Yeah, yeah you really are. I really care about you okay?" Cicada told him as she smiled at him. She took a bite of pizza before leaning against him once more. In her mind, (and based on a few actions) she might have messed up and needed to make it right.
Phoenix smiled lightly, taking a couple more bites of food before setting his plate aside. Scooting closer to her, he rest his head on top of hers. "Mmm, that's nice to hear." He whispered, kissing the top of her head.
"Heeyyyy are you getting grease in my hair?" Cicada teased a little feeling the kiss. She honestly really didn't mind and honestly was glad he wasn't mad at her, "If so please continue to do so."
