Nix nodded and gently, yet firmly, held onto Cas's arm. He made sure not to hurt him any further, but also was careful to not let Cas pull away. Cas seemed to be struggling to stay conscious at this point.
Nix nodded and gently, yet firmly, held onto Cas's arm. He made sure not to hurt him any further, but also was careful to not let Cas pull away. Cas seemed to be struggling to stay conscious at this point.
Halm took one hand and gently cupped Cas's cheek, wiping away the tears. Then he focused on Cas's arm, taking out a cloth and wiping the blood away. God, there was so much blood. He sucked in a breath.
Cas's skin was shredded from his nails. Even once the blood was wiped away, his arms were red, raw, and irritated. He flinched whenever Halm touched him and struggled to get away, stopped by Nix.
"I'm sorry," Halm said, over and over, as he treated Cas's arm. He carefully held one hand over the jagged flesh, trying to heal it.
Cas whimpered shakily, his struggling growing weaker by the second. He soon passed out in Nix's arms and Nix buried his face in his shoulder from behind.
Halm bit his lip when Cas passed out. When he finished that arm, he set it down gently, taking the other from Nix to work in it.
"I'm sorry, I fucked up," he said quietly.
Nix was crying quietly, clinging to Cas for dear life. He had his ears flattened back against his head and he seemed to be very stressed.
Halm carefully tended to Cas's arm, then pulled Nix and Cas close, holding them as tightly as he dared to himself.
"I-I'm sorry…"
Nix huddled up against Halm for comfort, still holding Cas close. He was clearly unwilling to let him go.
Halm folded in on himself a little, holding Nix and Cas so close to himself. He wasn't going to let go anytime soon. Never, if he could get away with it. He trembled a little.
"W-We can't leave him alone…" Nix whispered. "We… we just c-can't… he does this too much when he's alone…"
Halm nodded weakly.
"O-okay," he said weakly. "We… We're never leaving him alone again…"
"Even if he tells us to leave…" Nix sighed shakily and clung tightly to Halm and Cas. "If he tells us to leave, we know what he wants to do…"
Halm let out a shaky breath.
"O-okay. Alright." Halm needed to at least help Cas. He carefully put this hand on Nix's head, trying to help him calm down.
Nix closed his eyes and sighed softly. "I just… d-don't want him to do this anymore… b-but I can't stop him…"
"We… We just have to work with him. He… He needs patience…" Halm held Nix and Cas's unconscious form close. God he was a failure.
Nix nodded. "I'm scared for him… he… h-he could kill himself if we're not careful…"
"We won't let him," Halm said quietly, lip trembling. "We won't…"
"Mm…" Nix tucked his head under Halm's chin, rubbing at his teary eyes. "W-We can't lose him…"
Halm held Nix close, reaching up to help dry the tears.
"And we… we won't. This won't happen again…" Halm had learned his lesson.
"Not if there's anything we can do about it… but we can't exactly follow him into the bathroom or anything. There's always going to be times when he's alone."
"I can tell when he's being hurt," Halm admitted. "It would be the same for you. I… We'll be able to get to him." Halm fell quiet a moment, looking down at Cas.
Nix nodded a bit, running his fingers through Cas's hair gently. "He's so fragile…"
Halm nodded.
"I just… I just wish I knew how to help him. I-I dont, b-but… it's my job to know. I'm supposed to protect you two."
"It's my job to protect Cas… to comfort him. And here we are…" Nix sighed. "I'm such a failure…"
Halm sighed, pulling Nix close.
"We'll fix rhis," he said softly. "We'll put things right."
"I hope we can, but… neither of us are therapists. There's only so much we can do."
Halm nodded.
"I wish we could take him to one. But… I'm not sure they'd react well to a god and a cat bringing him in…"
"Probably not… but you can change our forms. If I'm in cat form, they'd let me in. I'm technically a service animal and he's got my papers. And you can assume a smaller form. I've seen you do it."
Halm nodded.
"But I don't have any money, and doesn't therapy cost a lot?"
