Melissa laughed, quickly making her way inside. After grabbing her food, she carried it over to the table with a smile. "Then I won't feed him pizza. And if pizza makes him fat, won't it make me fat?"
Melissa laughed, quickly making her way inside. After grabbing her food, she carried it over to the table with a smile. "Then I won't feed him pizza. And if pizza makes him fat, won't it make me fat?"
"No, it won't unless you eat way too much of it. You're supposed to eat it. He's not." Lucas took another bite of pizza.
"That doesn't seem fair." Melissa laughed lightly, starting to eat it with a sigh. "The poor little guy is hungry, and I can't share."
"We're getting him puppy food soon. He'll be okay." Lucas gently pet Cody while he ate, humming softly to himself.
"But he's hungry…" Melissa pouted, sipping from her water. "Look at the poor little thing."
"Melissa. I'm not going to feed pizza to the puppy. It isn't good for him." Lucas smiled weakly. "We're leaving right after we eat anyway, so he'll be okay."
"Fine…." Melissa huffed, setting her water aside. "I'm gonna be the fun parent." She added on with a slight mumble, eating quietly before he could ask questions.
Lucas rolled his eyes playfully and kept eating. "Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, he doesn't get pizza."
"I know he doesn't… but I feel bad for teasing him." Melissa mumbled, looking down at Cody.
"I'm sure he'll recover, Mel." Lucas finished his slice of pizza and started petting Cody again.
"You're probably right…" Melissa sighed softly, finishing off her own food before stacking plates.
"Ready to go, Mel?" Lucas stood up and picked Cody up so he could carry him to the store.
"Mm, yeah. I've already told my dad where we were headed." Melissa hummed as she gathered their dishes before heading inside.
"Sounds good to me." Lucas followed her inside, humming softly. Cody stayed mostly still in Lucas's arms, seeming to be content.
Melissa smiled softly, setting the plates in the sink. "I'll wash them when we get back." She told herself, starting for the door.
"Alrighty." Lucas followed Melissa to the door and carefully opened it for her. Once they were out, he took the lead and started towards the store.
"You sure you're alright carrying him?" Melissa asked gently, taking his free hand. "I don't mind if you want a break."
"Yeah, I'm alright, Mel." Lucas smiled softly and kissed Melissa's cheek. "He's not unbearably heavy."
"I know that," Melissa retorted, sticking her tongue out at him. "I was just asking."
"I know, I know." Lucas smiled a bit more brightly, continuing to lead Melissa along by the hand.
Melissa smiled lightly, resting her head on his shoulder. "I'm so glad we could get a puppy. You're so happy…"
"Mhmm." Lucas adjusted his hold on Cody so the puppy's paws would be around his shoulders.
"I still think we should get a dozen puppies. It could be fun." She joked a little, glancing up at him.
Lucas laughed a bit. "That would be very expensive, Melissa. I have a feeling that just one is going to be pushing our wallets a bit."
Shrugging, Melissa stood on her toes to kiss his cheek. "Oh probably. But we'd have a dozen puppies!"
"We sure would, Mel." Lucas smiled softly and returned the kiss. "We'll be at the store in a few minutes."
Melissa smiled brightly, glancing up in the direction they were headed. "Is it the one right up there?"
"Mhmm. It should have everything we need to start off with, at least." Lucas looked up at where Melissa was pointing.
"Right. That's good." Melissa smiled lightly, picking up her pace. "I'd race you, but it seems unfair."
"Yeah, I'd like to be careful with the baby." Lucas laughed a bit. "We can walk him once we've got the collar and leash."
