Evan held her close and started rubbing her back in soothing circles. ”Hey, hey… It's ok. You're safe. Just calm down and breathe.” he said gently. ”Slowly. Deep breaths. Nice and easy.”
Lysander shot up and reached for Betty. ”What’s wrong?” he asked, worried.
It didn't take but a few seconds for Betty to fall limp against Evans shoulder completely passed out
Evan sighed a little and gently laid her down. ”I think it might have been a panic attack… not sure though.” he admitted softly before telling Lysander about the vision.
Betty's heart was still pounding out of her chest
Evan gently took her hand and rubbed his thumb in little circles.
Lysander sighed and laid back down next to her. ”She has every right to be worried about the other wolves. She's still their Alpha.” he rationalized, though he hadn't forgotten her fear of fire.
And then little by little her heartbeat slowed
Evan raised a brow at his brother before turning back to his girlfriend, a little relieved that she seemed to be calming down but still keeping watch over her.
Lysander rolled his eyes at Evan’s not so subtle implication. Especially since they both knew that he was completely powerless. Useless… he added silently as he carefully took Betty's hand.
Betty jolted up looking around
Both brothers jumped a little when Betty sat up so suddenly… but Evan breathed a sigh of relief at her being awake again.
”Are you alright, my angel?” Lysander asked, still worried about her.
”Henry? I think he's downstairs.” Lysander said gently.
”I’ll check. Do you want me to bring him up?” Evan asked.
She nodded " I need my knee wrapped"
Evan raised a brow slightly. ”Lysander can wrap your knee while I get Henry.” he suggested, noticing the gauze wrapped around his hands and fingers.
Lysander shrugged a little at the idea. ”Only if you don't mind, Betty.”
" he's in pain and he might touch me" she said
”I… I won't touch you.” Lysander assured her, lifting his mummified hands to show her that his skin was covered. ”But she's right. It might be better to have someone who doesn't have bruised ribs and can actually sit up help her.”
Evan nodded and stood up. ”Then I'll be right back.”
Evan gave a small smile and left the room to get Henry, leaving the couple alone again.
Betty closed her eyes letting tears fall down her cheeks
Lysander looked over at her and was strongly tempted to hold her hand. ”Evan told me about the vision you showed him.” he said softly.
“Was I in it?” he whispered. ”I mean, was I the reason for the fire?” he asked, referring to his vampiric ability.
He sighed, understanding her fear and a little disappointed in his future self. ”I’m sorry. I don't know why I would do that. The last thing I want is to start another war between vampires and werewolves.” he said honestly and remorseful.
He shook his head. ”But I've never done something that stupid before. Cause a war between my brother and the woman I love… that's not me.” he said.
" you keep strating that one" she said
”Starting… which one? The one in your vision?” he asked confused.
She sighed, tears rolling down her cheeks " I try so hard to be there for you to make you happy to be enough to be the girl you want me to be but no matter what I do it's never right it's never enough " she said
He looked at her in shock at her words. ”No. Betty, love, you are enough. You are completely perfect for me when you don't try and just be who you are. These years of being married to you, have been the happiest years I’ve ever had.” he told her sincerely, gently placing his gauze covered hand on top of hers.
She looked at him sniffling " it's just Everytime a girl comes around it seems like you'd rather be with her than me"
