"Mm… I don't think I thought you liked anyone in particular either. I didn't think you liked anyone, actually. I was definitely surprised to hear that you liked me as well."
"Mm… I don't think I thought you liked anyone in particular either. I didn't think you liked anyone, actually. I was definitely surprised to hear that you liked me as well."
Melissa laughed lightly, pecking his cheek. "We're both just oblivious. Painfully, stupidly oblivious. Or maybe just me. I don't know." She hummed softly before sitting up straight.
"No, I was definitely oblivious." Lucas laughed. "Shit, I never talked to Laura, did I? I totally forgot about that after the concussion…"
"You didn't, but I talked to her. Remember?" Melissa asked lightly, looking over her shoulder back to him. "I met up with her during lunch, and talked to her."
"Ah, right…" Lucas rested his head against Melissa's. "What did she say?" He asked.
"Not much, actually. She listened mostly, as we had a shorter amount of time to talk. Of course she was a little rattled after, but didn't seem too bugged by it." Melissa started softly, leaning back into his shoulder. "Then again, Laura is pretty mature for a teenager. Oh, and she also asked about you, and how you were dealing with everything."
Lucas nodded a bit, listening attentively. "What did you say? How do you think I'm dealing with everything?" He asked.
"Honestly, as well as any person could. I know you have your problems, but really with all things considered, you're doing good." Melissa told him lightly, holding on to his hand. "What about you? What would you have said?"
Lucas shrugged a bit. "I'd say I'm doing about as well as can be expected at this point. Sure, I still have trouble with the nightmares and the relapses and stuff, but that's not exactly surprising considering my background."
"Right, that's pretty normal. Or- I mean, as normal as it can be. None of this is actually 'normal'." Melissa hummed softly, leaning back into him. "I don't really think there's anything normal about your life, to be honest."
"Yeah…" Lucas laughed weakly. "But it's getting better and I can hopefully move on from that. I still haven't visited my dad, though…"
"Lu…" Melissa said softly, looking up at him. "Come on, don't hold that against yourself. There's multiple factors why we haven't gone to see him."
"I know, I know…" Lucas sighed softly. "I just… I need to get over it and go see him. I feel bad."
"I know you do, Lucas. But it hasn't just been you. With school, and you working, we haven't had the time." Melissa told him, lifting her head to kiss him softly.
Lucas nodded and returned the kiss. "I know… I still really need to visit him, though. I can't just put it off forever…"
"You can't, and you won't. We'll go visit him soon." Melissa said lightly, smiling up at him. "Until then, don't worry. We can go some time next weekend, if you'd like."
Lucas nodded a bit and sighed shakily. "God, I'm just so nervous about it… I don't know if I can face him again…"
Melissa gave him a soft look, sitting up a bit. "What can I do to make you less nervous?" She asked softly, holding his face in both her hands. "Is there anything?"
"Probably not, to be honest… I'm gonna be terrified no matter what. I'd be surprised if I wasn't after all he did to me."
Nodding a little, she gently ran her thumbs over his cheeks. "Not being scared would worry me. Yes, I'm concerned for you now, but not as much as I could be. Let me know if there's anything I can do, alright?"
Lucas nodded as well and sighed. "Alright, Mel… I'll let you know. For now, let's just forget about that and relax, yeah?"
Melissa smiled lightly, kissing him softly. "Yeah, we can do that." She told him softly before relaxing back against him.
Lucas gently dragged his fingers through the water with a soft sigh. "It's really pretty here…" He murmured. "But not as pretty as you~"
"Lucas…" Melissa whined softly, looking up to him with a pout. "I'm not that pretty…"
"Well, I disagree. I think you're stunning." Lucas kissed Melissa and grinned brightly, pulling her close.
Nodding a little Melissa fell quiet. She wasn't upset, just didn't have anything to say at the moment. She was plenty happy just basking in the moment she had with him.
"You're not upset with me, are you darling?" Lucas asked, gently kissing Melissa again.
"Nope. Not in the slightest." Melissa hummed softly, returning his kisses. "Just feeling quiet, I guess."
Lucas nodded a bit. "Alright love… no problem." He smiled gently and held her close again. "Love you~…"
"And I love you. Being with you is better than I had actually ever imagined." Melissa replied lightly, putting an arm around his waist.
