"What does that mean?" Nix asked worriedly. "Is he still in danger? Is there anything I can do?"

"There's nothing we could do. It's like an organ transplant. The body might accept Cas, or it might reject him. Only time will tell." Halm sighed softly, concerned.
"It should be okay, though. The body should accept him again."

"How do you know?" Nix asked nervously. "What are we supposed to do if that happens? Will he die again?"

"It's going to be okay, Nix," Halm said gently. He cupped Nix's head in his hand, rubbing him gently.
"The body was Cas's before, so it should take to him easily. And, if it doesn't… We'll have to get him a new one. He'll be okay, I promise."

"But he doesn't want a new body… he wanted this one back." Nix sighed softly. "I worry that inheriting a new body with his memories still intact would be traumatic."

Halm nodded.
"I'm afraid that no matter what happens, this is going to be traumatic to him. He did die, after all." Halm sighed a little. "All we can do is be here for him, for now." Halm was doing his best.

Nix nodded. "Thankfully, his body wasn't damaged at all when he died… I presume that would have complicated things."

"Very much so. It would have been nearly impossible for him to go back to it." Halm glanced down at Cas, sighing softly. He looked back up as Nix.
"We're going to have to make sure he doesn't get hurt."

"Mhmm… what about his soul?" Nix asked. "I remember it being very self destructive when you pulled it from his body."

Halm nodded.
"That's true. I'm gonna have to keep a close eye on it. And I can't do what I did before to make sure it wouldn't act up- it would interfere with the body too much and could cause it to reject him." He sighed. Things were so much more complicated now.

Nix nodded a bit. "Can his soul do anything to him? Force him to hurt himself or something?"

"It can't force him, but… It can tell him things. Tell him he isn't worthy of our care, and things like that. It can influence him to hurt himself. It can also try to escape. Normally, that wouldn't past much danger, just light headedness and nausea, but now, when his connection to the body is still weak…" Halm pursed his lips a little.

"Right… even more reason to keep a close eye on him. He's expressed those kind of thoughts to me before when we were on earth."

Halm nodded.
"He's going through a really difficult time right now…" Halm closed his eyes a moment, then looked at Nix.

Nix nodded in reply. "He's been going through a difficult time since he was born, if we're being honest. I just wish I could take it all from him…"

"I do too. But the best we can do is help him through this." Halm cupped Nix's head again, giving him a tiny smile.

"Mhmm." Nix leaned his head into Halm's hand and purred again, closing his eyes.

Halm smiled just a little, scratching behind Nix's ear. He was actually enjoying this alone time with Nix.

Nix leaned into the touch, purring a bit louder. "How much longer do you think Cas is going to sleep?" He asked.

"I don't know. He's been through a lot today, and his body needs rest." Halm sighed a little, looking down at Cas.
"We'll have to make sure nothing happens."

Nix nodded with a soft sigh, looking down at Cas again. "I'll do my best to keep him safe. Knowing him, he's going to want to stay in this room for a while."

Halm nodded.
"Makes sense. I'm probably going to be spending a lot of time taking care of him too." He let his giant hand rest on Nix's head, looking back up at him.

Nix was still purring softly as he looked at Halm, his hair ruffled from Halm's hand. "Don't you have to do your job, though?"

"I…" Halm would have blanched, but he was already white as a corpse naturally. "Cas is my number one priority right now." He smoothed down Nix's hair, petting him at the same time.

(I know I drew him that way, but I can't remember whether or not we agreed to make him one lol)
Nix turned back his ears and closed his eyes. "I can handle him. I wouldn't want you getting into any trouble. That would be bad for all of us."

(we didn't really discuss it, but I'm totally up for him being a Neko)
"Are you sure?" Halm asked. "If he needs anything, then to get it you would need to leave him alone…" Halm didn't say anything about the second part, because it was true. Mother didn't tolerate slacking off, and she would blame Cas and Nix. That would be horrible…
