Alex let out a faint laugh. "Ah. Sorry." he replied with a slight shrug.
Alex let out a faint laugh. "Ah. Sorry." he replied with a slight shrug.
"It's alright," Gabe said with a smile. He liked Alex's laugh. He just wished he could get Alex to give it more.
Alex tucked back a strand of loose hair, taking a deep breath.
Gabe rubbed Matthew's back a little.
"How was your day here?" He asked.
Alex shrugged a little bit. "I don't know. It was fine." he replied softly.
Gabe nodded.
"I know Matthew can be really pushy."
"Yeah." he agreed with a faint smile.
Gabe chuckled a little. By now, Matthew was actually asleep.
"He wasn't too much, was he?"
He shrugged. "He was fine."
Gabe nodded.
"Good." Martha came out of her room.
"Good to see you back," she said to Gabe.
Alex went quiet when Martha came out, letting out a quiet breath.
Gabe glanced at Alex, carefully rubbing the back of Alex's hand before turning back to Martha.
"Then you for letting us stay. We'll be gone after dinner." Martha nodded.
"Of course. With all the help you've given my family, it's the least I can do."
Alex blinked when Gabe rubbed his hand, glancing up at Gabe for a moment.
Gabe didn't see Alex look at him for a moment, nodding to Martha before turning back to Alex. He tilted his head at Alex a little.
Alex blinked, then looked away again.
Martha looked between the two men, then turned to the stove.
"Might as well get started on dinner," she said, no longer looking at them. Gabe looked away too, blushing a bit.
Alex let out a quiet breath, unsure what to do.
Martha hummed as she cooked, and Matthew slowly woke up. He looked at Alex and Gabe, nodding to himself.
"Boyfriend," he said confidently.
(gtg soon, but I'll be back in approximately an hour and a half)
Alex blushed, not looking at Matthew or Gabe.
(okay then!)
Gabe blushed too.
"Matthew," Martha chided. "Men do not have boyfriends. It's not natural." Gabe's face darkened a little at that, and he took Alex's hand in his own again gently.
(back!)
Alex tucked his shoulders in close to his body at Martha's words, his gaze aimed down at his feet.
Gabe leaned lightly towards Alex, trying to comfort him. He believed it was unnatural too, but he knew it wasn't a choice.
Alex glanced up at him for a moment, then down at his feet again.
Gabe sighed, quiet a moment.
"Martha," he said, "I forgot I had something to do. Is it alright if we just leave now? I'm sorry about the short warning."
"It's fine," Martha said, not looking up. "Come back any time."
Alex blinked, glancing up at him for a moment and letting out a faint breath.
Gabe nodded and stood, setting Matthew down on the couch. He offered his hand to Alex.
"Let's go then," he said softly.
Alex carefully took Gabe's hand, standing up and looking around the room uncertainly.
Gabe patted Matthew's head in farewell, then lead Alex out of the apartment.
"I'm sorry about that," he said once they were alone.
Alex looked up at him. "About what?" He asked quietly, raising his eyebrows.
"About what she said." Gabe sighed softly. "People shouldn't look down on anyone what for who they love."
