"Hmm…?" Cas looked up at Halm when he was picked up. "What?" He glanced over his shoulder at the river and became entranced again.
"Hmm…?" Cas looked up at Halm when he was picked up. "What?" He glanced over his shoulder at the river and became entranced again.
Halm gently turned Cas's head back to him.
"Don't look at the water," he said softly. "It's not safe. Please."
"What's it doing to me?" Cas asked tentatively, now keeping his eyes fixed on Halm.
"It's trying to get you to go in it. That would be bad. It'd… Kill you." Halm pulled Cas a bit closer.
"O-Oh…" Cas huddled up against Halm and buried his face in his neck.
Halm slipped Cas back into his collar, this time in the front by his tie. It'd be easier for Cas not to look at the water.
"Maybe I should just do this after you go to sleep…"
"Mmm…" Cas yawned, huddling close to Halm and keeping his face hidden.
Halm sighed a little. He was just going to get this over with. He kneeled down, getting beginning to put the souls in the river. He kept his hands dry, making sure there was no way can could look out at the water.
Cas curled up in Halm's collar, keeping his eyes tightly shut so there was no way he could see the water.
Halm went quickly, then stood up. He turned, putting his hand up around Cas.
"I'm done," he said gently.
"Mmkay…" Cas nuzzled against Halm, purring. "Why does the water wanna kill me?"
"It's not that it wants to kill you," Halm said softly, beginning to walk away. "It's purpose is to make sure the soul and body are completely seperated before rebirth." He scratched the top of Cas's head.
"Oh… okay." Cas purred a bit louder, leaning into Halm's hand. "You're good at that…" He murmured.
Halm smiled softly.
"I'm glad you enjoy this," he said. He made sure Cas wouldn't accidently fall out as Halm walked back to the house. He opened the door, greeted by Nix.
Nix circled Halm as he walked, meowing loudly. "Mmmm… quiet, Nix… I'm enjoying myself…" Nix huffed and shut up, but he didn't stop following.
Halm chuckled a little, going to sit on the couch. He scratched Cas's head again, smiling softly.
Nix jumped on the couch and climbed into Halm's lap. He nudged Cas, seemingly checking to see if he was okay.
Halm moved his hand a little to give Nix a better look.
"He really does care about you," he noted.
"Yeah… you're such a worrywart, Nix. Calm down. I'm fine." Cas gently patted Nix's head with one paw. Nix didn't seem particularly satisfied, but curled up on Halm's lap anyway.
Halm put one hand on Cas's head and one lightly on Nix's.
"You're both adorable like this, you know," he noted with a little smile.
"Nix is always adorable, thank you very much." Nix shook his head a bit and allowed Halm to pet him. "Would you be able to turn Nix into a person?"
"It's possible," Halm said. "And unlike you right now, he'd be able to speak English if he did." Halm pet Nix, running his hand from Nix's head down his back. He hadn't done that with Cas, mostly because it was an intimate thing to do and Cas was… Well, he still had a human consciousness.
"Mm…" Nix stretched out his paws a bit and yawned, purring. Cas watched him curiously, basically just curled up into a ball in Halm's collar.
"You're adorable like this, you know," Halm said with a smile.
Cas huffed and buried his face in Halm's neck. "Only because cats are always cute…" Still, he couldn't keep himself from purring at the compliment.
"Well, you're cute when your human to," Halm said, matter o' factly. He patted Cas's head, smiling.
"Nooooo…" Cas whined, burying himself further. Nix looked up at them, seemingly smiling. He nudged Cas with his nose and purred. "W-What? Why are you agreeing with him?!"
"I don't blame him. You're adorable, and sweet, and cuddly." Halm smiled gently, hand coming up to pat Nix's head this time.
"No I'm noooot…" Cas whined. "I'm an asshole… just a stupid asshole." Nix rolled his eyes and climbed up to lay next to Cas, resting his head against Cas's to calm him down.
"Not true," Halm said. "I've had to deal with assholes before, and you're nothing like them." He shifted to make it easier for Nix to sit with Cas, making sure both of them were supported enough.
