Betty kissed his forehead before using a damp cloth to wipe the dried blood of his face

He winced at the touch and moaned softly as if he had a headache but didn't open his eyes yet.

" I'm so sorry" she whispered as tears welled up in her eyes and fell on his cheek

He groaned a little louder and lifted his less sore arm to rub at his forehead. ”Mmm… Betty?” he said as he finally woke up.

She turned away sniffling she wiped her eyes" Hey"

”Hey.” he smiled softly, turning to look at her. ”Did you… Do you know who I am?” he asked a little nervous about what to say.

She nodded still not looking at him

He sighed in relief. ”So, Henry and Tyler gave you the cure and your crystal back.” he concluded, letting himself relax.

"Y-yeah'" she turning to face him " you should rest" she said starting to walk out

”Don’t go.” he begged, reaching his hand out to her. ”What’s wrong, my love? Why are you crying?”

She sat on the edge of the bed " look at you Ly your sick" she said

He gave a small shrug. ”This isn't completely new for me and it was worth it for you to be safe and well.” he told her, not acknowledging the bite on his shoulder. He knew what that meant… and it scared him.

She shook her head " I can't save you Ly"

He gently took her hand. ”I know… but I don't want you to blame yourself for this. If anyone is to blame; it's Kameron.” he told her.

" I told you not to go now your going to fucking due" she said

He sighed. ”Betty, you didn't know me. You were terrified of me.” he told her. ”You told Evan about a nightmare you had. About a man holding fire?”

" that was a long time ago Ly" she said reaching over to dab the blood off his cheek

”I know.” he said, not flinching at the touch. ”But when you said, ”he’s here”…” he said. ”I needed to do something to help you.”

" you should've left it alone now I'll Lose you";she sighed

”But then I would have lost you and I couldn't have gone through that either.” Lysander pointed out.

She got off the bed pacing running her fingers through her hair " your gonna lose me Anyway ly when you die" she said

”I didn't intend to get bit.” he told her. ”Me and Henry were saving violence as a last resort… and I’ll admit I made a stupid move.” he sighed. ”But we were running out of time and she wasn’t going to make another attack.”

Betty sighed closing her eyes

”I’m sorry I let you down, my angel.” he apologized.

She silently started to cry

”Please don't cry.” Lysander whispered, even though he knew she had every right and reason to.

"Why?" She cried

He opened his mouth to answer but closed it when he couldn't find the right words. ”I… I just don't like seeing you cry.” he said after a moment. ”I know that sounds selfish of me but… I never wanted to make you unhappy.”

" I'll leave then" she said

He closed his eyes. ”I… I won't stop you.” he said, his voice cracking at the emotional pain. ”I know I've caused you misery… First with Marie showing up and now this. I’m very sorry, my love. You deserve better.”
