"Okay!" he replied, heading towards the planet one and tugging on Jude's hand to get him to follow.
"Okay!" he replied, heading towards the planet one and tugging on Jude's hand to get him to follow.
Jude let out a soft laugh as Nyx pulled him along, glancing back at the dinosaur displays before they found themselves in a new hall of exhibits, with sleek modern finishings and spotlights on the widespread arrangements of rocks.
Nyx grinned happily, looking around at the exhibits curiously, his eyes big and happy.
"Mm, look—" Jude said, smiling as he pointed to a rough-looking shape that people were surrounding, taking pictures and reading about. "I think that's a meteorite; a pretty big one at that."
Nyx let out a faint "ooo", coming closer to it so he could read the plaques and see more information about it.
Jude smiled as he walked around the silver rock, glancing down at the plaque of information. "Hmm," He sounded, tapping a rough edge of the meteorite, "It says this one is almost as old as the sun."
Nyx stared at it for a moment, cockign his head a little. "Wow…" he breathed, looking at it carefully.
"Mhm," Jude chirped, nodding and running a finger down the board of information as he skimmed through the short paragraphs, "Four and a half billion years old. Isn't that wild?"
He nodded, still looking curiously at it for a moment, then down at the information board, reading it.
"Thirty-four tons of iron," Jude murmured, walking around the meteorite, which was just about as tall as him, "—Hurling through space."
He nodded a little, looking up at Jude, then at the meteorite. "Mhm."
"It's pretty cool," Jude said, quietly slipping his hand into Nyx's as he glanced at the other meteorites around them. "You know, that reminds me," He said after a moment, a smile slowly forming on his face, "—One of my friends, Sophie, who you'll meet, studies all this space stuff. astronomy or astrophysics, something like that."
Nyx smiled happily. "Ooh!" he bounced on his toes a little. "That sounds…really cool!"
Jude shrugged, wearing a boyish smile as he wondered what Sophie might think of him. "I dunno," He said, "Some of it is really boring, but she makes it sound cool; all that stuff about stars and moons and galaxies."
Nyx nodded a little bit. "I want to hear about it." he replied softly.
"From me?" Jude said, raising his eyebrows as he smiled over at him, "Nah, you'd have to talk to her about that. And I can promise you that she'll go on for hours."
"No from her." Nyx wrnkled his nose a little, smiling a little as he looked up at Jude.
"Hm, well, she'll be happy to talk your ear off," Jude said, letting out a soft laugh as he thought of how happy she was when she could speak freely about what she way studying in school, "Her whole face lights up and everyone else just laughs cause we know she's gonna go off."
Nyx grinned. "I'll let her." He replied, looking at Jude and shifting a little bit.
Jude smiled over at Nyx as they walked through the museum. "That's sweet," He said, pressing a quick kiss on his cheek, "She'll like you, I know it. So will my other friends."
Nyx smiled a little bit. "Alright." he replied, leaning in close to Jude and closing his eyes for a moment.
Jude smiled, looking at a few exhibits as his mind lingered on the thought of Nyx meeting his friends. "You still wanna meet all of them?" He casually prompted, quietly wondering again if Nyx would like them, "I mean, I want you to. But they're all kinda loud and…maybe a little intimidating, except for Oliver; he's quiet."
Nyx nodded a little. "Yeah!" He replied. "I wanna meet them, Jude." He looked up at Jude, biting his lip a little. "Unless you don't want me to?"
"No– no, I want you to," Jude said with a soft laugh, nodding as they walked past the different exhibits, "It's just…I'm nervous." He'd never really introduced any boyfriends or girlfriends to his friends before, and though he knew they were friendly, he couldn't help but worry a little bit. "What if they ask questions?" Jude wondered aloud, "I want them to like you, but I don't want to lie to them, if I can help it."
"Oh. Uhm…" he squinted a little bit. "I…I don't know." he frowned, looking up at Jude anxiously.
Jude bit his lip, raising his shoulders in a gentle shrug as he glanced elsewhere. "I don't know either," He said, asking himself again if he– or they should lie about Nyx, "I was hoping you'd know what to do. Cause if you think we should make up some stuff…I dunno. We could."
Nyx bit his lip as well. "I…I don't really know." he said again. "It's…I…" he shook his head faintly.
"It's complicated, yeah," Jude nodded, letting his gaze travel around the hall of exhibits. He sighed, thinking back to the lab and how complicated it'd been to go through with helping him; accepting that position under the company. "I just…I don't like all this…sneaking around. But it's what we have to do."
"I know, but…if we told them…what if we got in trouble?" he asked. "I'd have to go back in the pod, and you…" he shrugged faintly, unsure what would happen to Jude if they were discovered.
Jude nodded thoughtfully as Nyx spoke. "—I would be in trouble. A lot of trouble, I think. But…that's not the point," He said, trying not to think about what would happen if the government would handle the situation, "I don't think we can tell my friends the truth, so I guess we have to lie." He didn't know much about the severity and how classified the project was, but even just thinking about it made him nervous.
