He nodded. "Alright. Yeah."

Nathaniel sighed and fidgeted a bit. "I worry that he's not being honest with the doctors about how much it hurts… I wanna make sure he's getting enough of the pain medication."

"Yeah. But there is the flip side, where too much medication will get him addicted."

"Yeah… I don't think he'd do that, I just… he's still in pain, you know? I don't want him to be hurting."

Ellis nodded. "Yeah, I get that."

"I'm gonna go talk to the doctors… I'll be back." Nathaniel sighed and slipped off the bed to leave the room. Lloyd stirred and whined softly in his sleep.

Ellis nodded again. "Alright."

"Mmmm…" Lloyd winced in his sleep and shifted uncomfortably, whining again.

Ellis frowned, standing up.

Lloyd gripped the sheets and whimpered softly, still clearly uncomfortable.

Ellis looked at Lloyd, unsure what to do.

Lloyd reached out one hand, whimpering again. Nathaniel had left, so he didn't have anyone to hold onto anymore.

Ellis reached out and took Lloyd's hand.

Lloyd seemed to settle down a bit at that, though he was still clearly in pain. He just quit his whining.

Ellis rubbed his thumb over Lloyd's knuckles, touch soft and gentle.

Lloyd shifted a bit and held onto Ellis, wincing slightly when he put pressure on his wound.

Ellis bit his lip, unsure what to do.

Lloyd soon stirred again and opened his eyes a bit to look up at Ellis. He seemed pretty disoriented and his eyes were glazed over.

Ellis bit his lip. "Hey." he greeted quietly.

Lloyd blinked and looked up at Ellis weakly. "H-Hey… El…?"

Ellis looked at him. "Yeah?"

"Hi…" Lloyd tightened his grip on Ellis and yawned a bit, purring weakly.

Ellis smiled a little. "Hey."

Lloyd's voice sounded pretty raspy from coughing so much. "Where did Nathaniel go?"

"He…went to talk to the doctors, I think."

Lloyd nodded a bit. "Okay… any particular reason?"

"Your pain meds."

"What about them? I'm fine." Lloyd coughed again and looked up at Ellis weakly.

"He thinks they aren't strong enough, and I kinda agree."

"Why's that?" Lloyd shifted and winced a bit. "It's really not that bad."
