"Well duh. I was wondering if there was anything else to do before we did that." Atlas said as he grabbed a marshmallow and stuck it on a stick. He held it over the fire, watching it roast quickly. He liked them burnt, strangely enough.
"Well duh. I was wondering if there was anything else to do before we did that." Atlas said as he grabbed a marshmallow and stuck it on a stick. He held it over the fire, watching it roast quickly. He liked them burnt, strangely enough.
Rowan didn't like his marshmallows burnt, but he did love watching them burn, so he was currently admiring his flaming, completely black marshmallow.
"You know you only get one marshmallow, right? That's gonna be literal charcoal in about a minute." Atlas stopped roasting his, satisfied with the burn level of it. He assembled his smore, letting it sit for a little to melt the chocolate.
"I'm just gonna eat the chocolate." Rowan continued watching his marshmallow burn until it inevitably melted off the stick, at which point he began burning the stick.
Atlas sighed. "If you commit arson and get arrested, I'm not bailing you out, no matter how much I love you." He picked up his smore and took a bite, smiling.
"I'll drag you in with me somehow and you know it." Rowan watched the flame on his stick for a bit before slowly moving it towards his sleeve.
"I knooowww." Atlas' eyes widened as he saw the flame. He blew to put out the fire before trying to yank the stick out of Rowan's hand. "I vaguely remember saying I'd rather us not start a fire in the school."
Rowan huffed indignantly. "Setting my shirt on fire wouldn't set the whole school on fire. It's fiiiiiine."
"But if you set fire to your shirt, you could hurt yourself, and we don't need that. I'd rather you burn down the school than your shirt." Atlas set the now flameless stick on the counter and looked back up at Rowan. "But don't think that gives you permission to do it."
Rowan stuck his tongue out a bit. "Nothing a little neosporin couldn't fix… I've been burned before and it's not that bad."
"I don't care if it's not that bad. It makes me sad to see you injured, even if you don't think it hurts much." Atlas smiled softly and leaned his head on Rowan's shoulder.
Rowan huffed. "I'd be fine. Barely even injured. You'd be able to cope just fine."
"You don't know that. I'm a sensitive guy at times, especially when it comes to people I love." Atlas said, finishing his smore. He took Rowan's graham crackers and started on them.
Rowan picked up a piece of chocolate and shoved it in his mouth, still pouty. "Yeah, yeah… I'd still be fine, though."
Atlas sighed quietly, unable to keep a smile off of his face. During times like this, Atlas felt extremely lucky and completely head-over-heels for Rowan. He didn't know why, but those overwhelming feelings washed over him at the most random times.
"What're you so perky for?" Rowan asked, his voice a bit muffled from the chocolate still in his mouth. "You're smiling an awful lot…"
"It's nothing bad, don't worry, love. I just love you so much, it's overwhelming at times. Right now is one of those times." Atlas wrapped one of his arms around Rowan, keeping himself right next to his boyfriend.
Rowan flushed pink, clearly more than a little taken aback. "Erm… love you too, Atlas. Where's this sudden bout of love coming from?"
"I don't knowwww!" Atlas almost whined. He turned to face Rowan and, in slight embarrassment, buried his face in his boyfriend's chest.
Rowan blushed harder and glanced around nervously. "You alright, hon?" He asked tentatively.
"I should be. I think I am." Atlas said, his words muffled by Rowan's shirt. He lifted his head, to look Rowan in the eyes instead of at dark cloth.
Rowan smiled softly and ruffled Atlas's hair. "You're such a dork. And a dumbass. But you're my dumbass."
Atlas' smile grew. "Exactly." He whispered, fighting the urge to plant a soft kiss on Rowan's lips. They, at least Atlas, refrained from doing so during class.
Rowan rolled his eyes, still grinning. "C'mon, dumbass. Let's get all this cleaned up so we don't get yelled at, hmm?"
Atlas sighed dramatically and let go of Rowan. He took the stick that still had a charred marshmallow on it and scraped it off. The teacher had a pile where all the sticks where, so Atlas brought theirs to the pile.
Rowan started rinsing out the mortar and pestle, humming softly to himself as he did so. When he was done,he brought it up to the front as well.
Since it was an easy project, it only took a couple of minutes to clean up. Atlas was walking towards Rowan, his hand reaching out to his boyfriend's hand.
"Needy today, are we?" Rowan laced his fingers with Atlas's, smiling softly. "I don't mind it too much."
"I guess I am. You'd think I hadn't seen you for a month. In reality, I've been with you for more than twenty-four hours, only being apart for an hour at the most." Atlas giggled a little as they went to sit down at their desks.
"Mhmm." Rowan sat down and yawned, allowing Atlas to continue holding his hand. "It's lovely, Atlas. Definitely good not being alone, anyway."
