“Are you ready to get back out there?” he asked softly.

"What about my shot?" She asked

“I already gave it to you.” he said, showing her the empty syringe. ”I did it while you were telling me about New York.” he looked down a little sheepishly. ”I’m sorry if you feel like I tricked you but it’s one of the better methods I know. Distract the patient with something they like or are passionate about to take their mind off the needle.”

She smiled softly and pulled him down to kiss him

He sighed softly in relief as his lips met hers and gently wrapped his arms around her.

She ran her hand up his chest to rest on his shoulder

He smiled a little and placed a hand softly against her cheek.

He slowly pulled back a little. ”I guess this means you approve of that method.” he smiled.

She nodded and kissed his cheek

”Good. I’m glad to hear that.” he said happily and kissed her again lightly.

She kissed him back with a smile

”Dinner should be ready by now.” he whispered.

She whined, and put her head on his shoulder

”Whar’s wrong?” he asked, hugging her gently.

He nodded. ”It’s ok. You'll be safe. There are more people here who care about you than there are of them.” he assured her. ”But if it’ll make you feel better I can have you sit in between me and Lysander.”

She nodded,"okay"

He smiled softly and picked her up.

She smiled resting her head on his shoulder

”Are you ready, my queen?” he asked.

She nodded

He smiled and kissed her temple before heading back to others.

She grabbed his hand as they walked

He smiled and held her hand gently as he lead her to the dining table.

She walked where half of her body was hidden behind him

Evan gave her hand a gentle squeeze to reassure her.

”I almost feel like a footman right now.” Henry joked. ”How did you talk me into this, Ly?”

”Shut up, Henry.” Lysander almost chuckled, rolling his eyes.

Betty placed her cheek against his shoulder

Evan smiled at her gesture. ”Thanks for setting everything out, you guys.”

Lysander looked up at them and smiled when he saw Betty. ”It’s no trouble.”
