"Sure, I'll put them up before we leave town. I'm sure that even that they're small, they'll go for a lot." Honor smiled and continued forward with the cart as the pair in front of them finished. She put everything up on the counter and let the male behind the counter do his job, digging out her wallet to pay for everything.
Oscar nodded, pleased with this plan. "I can do more paintings in the coloring book if people like the first two. After that I have more ideas for the bigger sketchbook and canvases we bought." He stared into space thoughtfully. "I want to try and paint what it felt like when I first came here to Earth. One of the books I read said you should paint what you feel, so I'll start with that."
She nodded, handing over the money and loading the bags and supplies back into the cart easily. "I'm excited to see what you'll make," Honor said, leading the way out of the store again while pushing the cart. Anything that Oscar drew was going to be amazing, but she was particularly excited to see what he was going to create to portray how it felt to come to Earth, "If you don't mind taking our time finding our five friend, we can even stop every hour on our way and you can draw or paint without having to worry about bumpy roads."
"I don't mind. That's probably a good idea." Oscar followed her outside and over to the truck. "Do you like to paint, Honor? You can use some of my new supplies, if you ever want to."
"I tried my hand at it when I was younger, I'm pretty bad at it though. I can draw a decent cartoony flower though," She said, cracking a smile as she unlocked the truck and started loading the things they had bought into it. All of the food went into the back, besides more snacks, and she put the bigger of Oscar's supplies into the back, but left everything else so he could decide.
"I read about cartoon drawing," Oscar said seriously, putting everything but the crayons and his new sketchbook in the back with the rest of the groceries. "It sounds hard. Drawing from life is easy because you have something to copy, but cartoons have to come out of your imagination. If you ever want to, we could make a painting or drawing together. I think it could be fun."
"See, that's my thought on drawing from life. It's hard, because you have to copy things so well that they look realistic. Cartoons are easy because you don't have to be as exact and you can draw anything." Honor parked the cart in the designated car park stall only a few feet away before hopping into the truck, smiling gently. "I would love to draw with you."
Oscar's expression relaxed. "Good. We should do that sometime soon." He too got in the truck, still holding onto his new sketchbook tightly. "Do you think we should put my pictures online now, or a little later?"
(Very sorry I didn't answer sooner, it's been a crazy few days)
She nodded, laughing lightly and smiling at the male, "Thank you for reminding me, I almost forgot about doing that. We can stop at some fast food place here and I'll use their wifi to get some pictures and get them up." Honor was slightly embarrassed that she forgot about putting the pictures up, but it wasn't uncommon for her to forget things she suggested not long before.
(It's all good fam, I've been there lol)
"Sure," Oscar agreed easily. "I didn't know you could also get wifi at places that sell food. Do you have to pay for it, or is it like the internet at the library?" He didn't want to make her pay for yet another thing in his name unless they absolutely had to.
(Are you up for a group rp by chance? Random I know lol)
"It's free most of the time, depends on the place really," She replied, starting up the truck and waiting until Oscar was ready before pulling out of the grocery store parking lot, towards the first fast food sign that she saw. Honor didn't know if Oscar was hungry at all, but it almost seemed like a good idea to get something warm to eat quick, even if it wasn't home cooked.
(Maybe? I'm a little choosy about group rps but you got me curious lol)
"Good," Oscar replied once he understood. He was in fact getting hungry already, but for now he kept quiet, starting to feel self-conscious about constantly demanding food. "Let's post the pictures, then, and we can get back on the road after that."
(I'm in one and currently we need two more people before we can start. It's about a group of immortals who are discovered by a human, here's the link if you're curious! https://www.notebook.ai/forum/roleplaying/the-immortals-3-6-open/page-2#post_2252031)
Honor nodded, humming gently as she drove. The place wasn't terribly far away, and after a few minutes of driving, she pulled into a parking spot in front of the building. "I don't know about you, but I'm also going to go inside and order something. I'm starving," She said, turning the truck off and hopping out quickly, "There's probably better lighting inside too if you want to take the pictures in and I can get them up there?"
(Sounds like it could be fun, I'll check it out! ^^)
It didn't take much toget Oscar to cave in. "Okay," he said, following Honor. "I'll eat something too." He remembered to bring the coloring book and stuffed it in his pocket, feeling a bit excited about being able to share his first artworks with the world.
(off to bed, seeya tomorrow!)
"Works for me," She said easily, leading the way inside and locking the truck behind her. Food sounded amazing, and she knew she would remember to get the pictures posted if they had to go inside and eat. Plus there was probably somewhere that would work better for pictures than in her truck. They had to make these look good after all. Honor held the door open for Oscar, motioning him inside and then pointing up at the menu, "Choose whatever you want."
Oscar studied his options, then boldly approached the counter and addressed the young man working there. "I'd like…..a cheeseburger and one of those cold drinks, the strawberry one. Please."
"Coming right up," the kid said, then glanced at Honor. "And you, ma'am?"
(sorry it's short, also I'm taking a day off from the internet today so I'll be AWOL for a while)
(You're all good!)
"I'll take the same thing, but with just a fountain drink instead," She said, quickly deciding that what Oscar chose sounded like the best option. Anything sounded good, and it seemed smarter to buy something cheap that sounded good than something expensive. At least for the time being.
"Alrighty. Will that order be to go, or are you eating here?"
"I guess we're eating in here," Oscar answered, already looking forward to his meal.
"Okay, well then, just have a seat, and your food will be ready in a few minutes. Your total will be….."
The kid paused just as the number popped up on the readout next to him. He took a closer look at Oscar, noting the bandages on his head. Then, he realized he was staring and quickly averted his gaze. "Um…..sorry. Yeah. I'll get your drinks." He hurried away, forgetting to actually ask Honor to pay.
(I'm very sorry if I'm less consistent, work and sports are stressing me out)
Honor frowned as the kid dashed off, tucking the money back in her wallet and standing uncertainly at the register. She would feel terrible if she didn't pay, and so she was going to stand there until the boy was back. "Oscar, if you want, you can choose a seat. I'll come over with our drinks as soon as they're ready," She offered, glancing back at him and smiling gently.
(It's okay, I totally get it fam)
Oscar looked troubled, but nodded and walked across the room to a booth by the window. He sat down, keeping an eye on Honor just in case.
It took the cashier a while to return from the back with their drinks, and he seemed a little surprised to see Honor still waiting at the counter. "Sorry for the delay," he said awkwardly, then realized he'd never taken her money. "Oh, right. I'll take that. Um…." He glanced over her shoulder at Oscar. "You guys just passing through town, then?"
"Yeah, road trip across the country," She replied, smiling and taking back the change that was left over before nodding towards Oscar, "It's his first time in the area and I figured I'd show him around a bit before we travel to the prettier places." Honor also scooped up the drinks as well, shooting one more smile at the cashier.
"The prettier places, huh?" The cashier was trying to sound casual, but it was obviously forced, and he kept glancing back at Oscar while he spoke. "Well….have a nice trip. I'll bring over your food when it's ready."
Honor nodded in thanks, adding before she walked away, "Thank you!" She was careful not to drop the drinks as she walked over to Oscar, setting his in front of him and sitting across from him in the other seat. "So, should we put those pictures up before we eat? Or after?"
"Let's do it now, while we wait," Oscar answered distractedly, accepting his drink and taking a sip. "….What did that guy say to you just now?"
"He was just asking if we were just stopping through and where we were headed. I just told him we were headed towards the pretty places," She replied calmly, sipping at her own drink and pulling out her phone. Quickly she got it to camera and smiled at Oscar, motioning to the table, "Want to set those pictures out? I'll take quick pictures of them."
Oscar nodded, retrieving the coloring book from his pocket and opening it onto the first painting. "Here." He snuck a glance at the counter once more, then added more quietly, "Don't you think that person was acting a little…..weird? He stared at me pretty hard…."
Honor nodded slowly, keeping her smile up but whispering back, "He made me a little nervous, I'm wondering if it's better just to leave after we post these than wait for our food..no matter how hungry I am, it's not worth you being found out about." She snapped a quick photo of the first picture, checking to make sure it was good before nodding again and tapping the book, "One down, one more to go."
Oscar found the second painting and showed it to her, holding the pages flat so she could get a good picture. He knew she was probably right, but at the same time he really wanted some of that good-smelling food.
"Can we wait at least a few more minutes, please?" he asked. "If it's not ready by then, we can leave."
"A few more minutes won't hurt I guess," She agreed, thinking for a minute as she took the picture, "We can stay here until I get these uploaded, hows that? It'll take me a little while to get them both up." Honor looked up at him, smiling as she did so, "I have a good feeling about these pictures, Oscar. I think they're going to sell incredibly fast." Then, just like that she set to work, going silent besides her food bouncing and doing her best to be as quick as she could with getting them up.
