"He's not goofing off… he's giving me insight on what it's like for the people. I like to know that kind of thing."
"He's not goofing off… he's giving me insight on what it's like for the people. I like to know that kind of thing."
"He's still ignoring his work when he's doing that, and it sets a bad precedent."
"A bad precedent? I'm not talking to him constantly. He's still getting his work done, Anton."
"Is he, though?" Anton squinted. "Is he really getting his work done, laying in a hospital bed?"
"Not right now, but I mean before. You can't expect him to be performing at 100% when he just got shot."
"I don't expect him to be performing at 100% after getting shot. I'm not a heartless monster, you know."
"You're expecting him to get all his work done, and I've noticed you've been giving him more work lately. Are you trying to get him to stop seeing me?"
"So what if I am?" he challenged, arching his eyebrows a little bit.
"Then you're trying to do so behind my back, and at his expense. And I'm not exactly just fine with that."
"It's not anything more than he's used to dealing with at home. It's not like he's being overworked."
"It's a lot of work. He doesn't need to be working all day, every day. People need breaks, Anton. He's a person."
Anton's lip curled a little. "He's a goddamn half-breed." he spat back. "And nobody even knows who the hell his father was."
Lloyd bristled, his wings puffing up. "Who the hell cares whether he's human or not?"
"I didn't say that was the issue, Lloyd. The issue is that he's a halfbreed, and his mother was a slut." Anton spat out. "And so is he."
"He's not a slut! Considering that the only pertinent information you saw fit to tell me when we met was that you didn't have any STDs, I'm assuming you've 'got around' far more than he has!"
(god Anton is such an ass and I hate him I– ugh)
"Yeah, he is. I said that because it genuinely is important, not because I sleep around." he sneered a little bit, shaking his head. "How much about him do you really even know, Lloyd?"
(Lmao)
"More than I know about you, clearly." Lloyd stood and grabbed his crutches. "Now, goodbye." He left the room, still seething.
Anton snorted, leaning back in his chair and shaking his head. "See you." he replied, unperturbed.
Lloyd returned to the infirmary, visibly annoyed. His wings were still puffed up and he was just glaring at the floor.
Ellis had fallen asleep again, snuggled up with the dogs. Korou was awake, and just laying there. Lio was awake as well, but was exploring the bed, standing on Ellis' shoulders.
Lloyd looked down at Ellis and sighed. He sat back down in his chair and picked up Lio to hold onto, trying to calm down.
Lio squirmed happily, licking at Lloyd's face. Ellis shifted just a little bit, letting out a sleepy sound.
Lloyd smiled weakly and held Lio close. Gradually, his fluffed up wings started to settle.
Ellis shifted again, starting to wake up.
Lloyd glanced up at Ellis when he stirred.
Ellis opened his eyes, letting out a quiet sigh.
"Morning. Or… er… afternoon, I guess."
"Afternoon. How'd the meeting go?" he stretched.
"Um… poorly." Lloyd laughed weakly.
He frowned a little. "Oh. What happened?"
