"Hmm. Probably because in the grand scheme of things, I don't really matter?" he shrugged.
"Hmm. Probably because in the grand scheme of things, I don't really matter?" he shrugged.
"You do matter, Ellis. Hell, in the grand scheme of things, no one matters. My father will be forgotten, so will I, so will everyone. That's just how things are. That doesn't mean you're not important to people in your time."
He laughed a little bit. "I'm not important to most people, actually." he replied with a shrug.
"Well, you're important to me, and if I'm important to other people, I think that makes you also important." Lloyd said decisively.
He smiled a little bit. "Alright, alright. Thank you, Lloyd.'
"No problem." Lloyd returned the soft smile and lay down on his bed, now staring at the ceiling. "How are you liking it here?"
"It's…I don't know. It's a lot different than I'm used to, but…I like it."
Lloyd nodded. "You'll get used to it pretty soon. It's a little more scheduled than ordinary life, I believe, but hey. You'll be paid for working here."
He nodded a little bit. "Yeah. And pay is great." God knows I haven't been. Ever.
"Mhmm. All the staff are paid, fed, and clothed well here. You should be very comfortable, I hope." Lloyd smiled gently.
He nodded again. "Yeah. It's been great so far." he replied, smiling softly.
"That's good to hear." Lloyd hummed, glancing up at Ellis from where he was laying on the bed. "Is there anything else you'd like to talk about.
Ellis smiled at him. "Uhm…I don't know."
"Well, I'm open to any questions if you think of something." Lloyd toyed with his hair a bit.
He took a deep breath, running his hands through his hair.
Lloyd eventually sat up and left his hair alone. "You hungry?" He asked.
He blinked. "Oh. Sort of."
"Well, let's go grab some food, then. C'mon!" Lloyd hopped up from the bed and headed towards the door.
He laughed, then grabbed Lloyd's arm. "Nope. You stay here, I'll go get it."
Lloyd huffed indignantly and flopped down on the bed. "You're no fun… can I go if I use the crutches?" He asked tentatively.
"If you use crutches." Ellis replied, looking down at him with raised eyebrows.
Lloyd sighed and found his crutches. "Fiiiine…" He hesitated before hoisting himself up on them. They seemed to be set for someone slightly taller than him and he was clearly very unsteady.
Ellis sighed softly. "You do know how to use them, right?"
"Uh… no, not really." Lloyd tried to moved forward, but ended up just falling onto the ground with a stifled yelp.
Ellis darted forward to help him, gently lifting him back onto his feet. "Okay. So you use the crutches instead of your injured leg, and you have to move them at the same time, otherwise you fall."
Lloyd nodded a bit, clearly rather ruffled. He tentatively grabbed onto the crutches again and tried to pull himself up. "I… I think these are too tall for me…" He said quietly.
Ellis nodded. "Sit down, I can adjust them." He pushed Lloyd gently onto the bed, and then got to work adjusting the crutches.
"Alright…" Lloyd sat quietly on the bed while he waited for Ellis to finish adjusting his crutches.
Ellis adjusted them, and held them out. "Here, try them now." He said with a quick smile.
Lloyd nodded and carefully hoisted himself up again. "I think it's a little better… I'm still not sure how I feel about them, though…"
