Laughing a bit, she turned to pull a pan from the cabinet. "Oh come on. By now you should know I'm capable of cooking."
Laughing a bit, she turned to pull a pan from the cabinet. "Oh come on. By now you should know I'm capable of cooking."
"True, but I'm not." Lucas snickered a bit and handed Melissa the cheese. "I'm not to be trusted with much more than simple sandwiches."
"Oh come on. You're more capable then that." Melissa attempted to insist, glancing over her shoulder. "Or you will be."
"Mm. Thanks for the pity, but you know I'd burn it." He laughed and kissed Melissa softly.
"Fine, I won't argue with you. But I believe you're capable of greatness." She joked, kissing him once more before pulling back.
"I'm sure." Lucas looked around for other things they might need. "Perhaps not with cooking, though."
"Maybe, maybe not. We'll see what happens." Melissa hummed, starting on their sandwiches. "For now, don't worry about it."
"Alright, alright." Lucas leaned against the counter and yawned a bit before humming softly to himself.
After a minute or two of quietness, she glanced up and over to him. "Do you wanna get plates?" Melissa asked, pulling the hot pan off the stove.
"Yeah, sure." Lucas found some plates in the cabinets and brought them to Melissa. "For you, milady."
"Thank-you. Now, where did this new nickname come from?" Melissa asked with a smile, taking the plates from him. Dipping up their sandwiches, she held one plate back out to him.
Lucas shrugged. "Felt right, I guess. And you kept calling me sir." He grinned and accepted the plate. "Thanks."
"Mhmm. And I did?" Melissa laughed a bit, trying to rack her brain. "Oh… yeah. Apparently I did."
"You definitely did." He took a bite of his sandwich and hummed in satisfaction. "Perfect as always, Mel."
"It's just a sandwich, Lu." Melissa hummed, biting into her own. "Nothing special, just a simple grilled cheese."
"But you made it with love, and that just makes it so much better." Lucas grinned and took another bite.
Rolling her eyes at his response, Melissa kept her best from laughing. "Sure thing. If that's what you want to think, I won't stop you."
"That is what I want to think, thank you very much." He hummed happily and took another bite. "Either way, it's very good."
Smiling, Melissa took a moment before replying to his statement. "Well if you're happy, so am I." She told him, leaning back against the counter.
Lucas nodded. "The park definitely did me some good. My mind's a hell of a lot clearer now." He sighed softly.
"That's good to here… I wish there was an easier way to help though." Melissa mumbled with a sigh, frowning a bit at him.
"Yeah…" Lucas was quiet for a few seconds while he ate. "Ah, well. We'll figure something out, yeah?"
"Mhmm… like a therapist. If I got the money, someone qualified to help you would be lovely." Melissa sighed, glancing down at her half eaten sandwich.
"It would be lovely, but for now, you and the willow will have to serve as my temporary therapists, hmm?" Lucas finished his sandwich and began washing his plate.
“I guess so… I just want to make sure you’re alright.” Melissa mumbled, making herself finish the last bit of her sandwich before dropping her plate in the sink besides his.
Lucas nodded. "Well, no, but being around you and the frequent park visits are helping some. The nightmares are definitely not helping, though…"
"Yeah… I wish I could stop them." Melissa whispered, hugging his waist and rested her chin on his shoulder. "I hate to see you like that."
"Yeah… sorry you had to." Lucas sighed, returning the hug. "I'm not used to having other people there to help me through it."
"Well I'm glad I was around. Seriously, if that ever happens again, come wake me up. You're here for a reason, Lu." Melissa whispered, pulling back a bit.
Lucas nodded. "I will… I just hate bothering you. I know I'm difficult to deal with sometimes, at least when it comes to that."
