The Ceremony. The event that everyone either wishes for or dreads. Lower class wish to get sorted higher. Higher class dread being sorted lower. But you can't choose your fate.

Lillith stood to the side with her brother, her parents already reluctantly in the audience. They didn't want to be here. They didn't care.
"What if I'm not a Diamond anymore, Madex? What if I'm a Club?"
"You'll be fine, Li. I'll still give money. You're my sister. I'm not gonna abandon you."

Hugh stood in a corner, fiddling with his fingers as he looked around. He didn't know what to think, he knew he wasn't truly a Heart but he didn't know what he'd do if he was in any other house. I'll be fine, right? Yea, I'll be fine, nothing can happen to me. I'm probably still a Heart.

Lucas stood stoic and tall, his hands over his chest. Although he was content with wherever he wherever he would be sorted next, he could feel the continuous pounding of his heart through the thin shirt. He guessed it was excitement, seeing what they thought of him now. He just didn’t necessarily wish to stay in Spades. He’d deal with it no matter the situation, but part of him hoped for a different class.

Louisa brushed her hair out of her eyes for the thousandth time that hour.
There wasn’t anything to feel towards this event for her. Since she wouldn’t miss anyone, and no one would miss her.
There was no worse case scenario either, being at the bottom. The only things that could happen was that she’d stay here, or she get sorted up. Neither of which were bad.
So, Louisa was simply waiting for the event to end and to move on with life.

"All those to be sorted, please make your way to the stage." The voice was loud and commanding.
Once everyone was on the stage, the voice continued. "I will call your name and you will stand where directed. These four will be your group for the next week. You will do everything with them. At the front of the stage: Lillith Rhodes, Diamond; Hugh Reid, Heart; Lucas O'Sullivan, Spade; Louisa Bartlett, Club."
None of the other names mattered. Lillith was getting sorted first, and that scared her.

Lucas gave a small nod as his name was called. His eyes darted around, trying to note anyone else’s expression. He could feel the stress around him, either resonating from the others or rising within himself— he didn’t know. He had no real reason to fear, so he figured his own nervousness stemmed from excitement.

Hugh's heart skipped a beat when he heard his name, making his way to the front of the stage. Just why did he have to put in the front? And in front of everyone? Apparently getting sorted wasn't making his heart race fast enough and they shoved him to the front. He looked around at his group and smiled at them, wondering if the others were all as stressed as him.

(Sorry for the wait everyone!)
Louisa sighed a bit and made her way up, pushing a couple of people out of her way.
Now was the moment of truth, the time where she’d figure out where she’d have to be for the next while. Though, she felt like it was a bit narrowed down since it wouldn’t really make sense for her to be in Heart.
The other people who were getting sorted first, seemed more hopeful and stressed by this event. It seemed ridiculous to Louisa, but it would make sense for someone to feel like that during this event.

"When your name is called, place your hand on the top of the staff. Your new house will be revealed and you will be given a pass. Wait until your whole group has been sorted. You will then be taken to a room and your appearance changed. Lillith Rhodes."
Lillith reluctantly stepped up to the staff, hesitantly placing her hand on the jewel. After a few seconds, it was revealed. She was a Spade. "Spade? No, no. I can't be a Spade."

It was Hugh's turn next, his heart beating fast and at an irregular rhythm as he waited for his name to be called. Will his house also change like that girl? Or will he stay in the same house? He didn't want his house to change, but he felt like he didn't belong either, he didn't know what to do anymore.
