Lucas blushed a bit harder and looked over his shoulder at the store. "Um… I think we can be quick. I'm not too picky and I'll forget about it tomorrow."
Lucas blushed a bit harder and looked over his shoulder at the store. "Um… I think we can be quick. I'm not too picky and I'll forget about it tomorrow."
"Mmm, not if I remind you. But I don't care either way." Melissa chirped, taking his hand and pulling him along to the store. "You know, you'll probably want some kind of rash guard to cover your arms."
"Rash guard?" Lucas asked, confused. He looked around the store curiously as he was dragged inside. "What's that?"
"It's like a wet shirt, basically." Melissa shrugged leading him back to the swim suits. "You also picked a good time to need a swimsuit. Everything is clearance because it's the end of the summer."
"Alright, sounds good to me…" Lucas rifled through the things until he found boring navy swim shorts and a white, longsleeved swim shirt. "Looks good to me. Shall we head out?"
"You don't need to try anything on, first?" She asked with a raised brow, pulling her wallet from her back pocket. "You're sure it's gonna fit?"
"Ughhh… fiiiiine…" Lucas whined playfully and went into the dressing room. He came out a couple minutes later in his normal clothes. "Kinda big, but they don't have smaller than this. And the waist of these is adjustable, so it's fine…"
"We need to build some muscle on you, then." Melissa teased, patting his stomach. "But as long as you're happy, I'm happy… how bad do you not want me to pay?"
Lucas blushed a bit. "Um… pretty, but you typically don't budge on these things." He sighed. "I do have my wallet on me, you know."
Melissa sighed, checking the price tags on both things. Adding the price up in her head, she pulled out half of what he needed and handed it to him. "There, I'm not paying for all of it." She hummed, shutting her wallet before putting it back into her pocket.
"Thanks, Mel." Lucas smiled softly and kissed her before pulling his wallet out of his pocket. He headed up to the checkout counter to pay.
"See, I'm not completely unreasonable." Melissa hummed, following behind him to the counter. "I think I might go wait outside though, if you're alright with that."
"Um, yeah, sure. See you in a minute." Lucas handed the money over to the cashier and collected his change.
Making her way out the door, she sighed a breath of relief as she walked outside. She stepped aside, leaning back against the wall of the building. All of her thoughts started to become more clear, as she gave herself a minute to actually think through them instead of bottling everything up.
Lucas soon came out of the store and found Melissa. "Mel?" He asked worriedly. "Are you okay? Do you need water or something?"
Melissa snapped out of her state, trying to put the lid back on everything going through her head. "W-what?" She asked weakly, pushing off the wall. "Oh… n-no I'm fine." She told him, forcing a smile onto her lips.
"You don't look fine…" Lucas said softly, approaching her and laying his bag on the ground so he could gently wrap his arms around her.
"I'm really fine." Melissa insisted as he pulled her into a hug, keeping up her smile. "I'm just… tired. It's nothing to worry about."
Lucas sighed and gently kissed Melissa's cheek. "If there's anything wrong, you know you can tell me, right?" He asked.
"Yeah… I know." Melissa whispered resting her chin on his shoulder. "I… I guess I have a lot on my mind." She shrugged, still holding on to him tightly.
"Well, you can tell me on the way back home, okay?" Lucas picked up his bag and laced his fingers with Melissa's.
Melissa gave a weak smile, pressing a soft kiss to his lips. "Yeah, sounds good to me." She whispered, drowning out her emotions once again.
Lucas started walking with Melissa and stayed quiet so she could talk to him if she wanted to.
Taking in a deep breath, she followed him with her head on his shoulder. "It's just everything going on… all the things I didn't know, coming at me all at once."
Lucas nodded a bit. "What specifically?" He asked softly, walking slowly so they could talk.
"I…I don't really know. I'm not even sure where to start." Melissa mumbled, holding on to his hand tighter. "I guess it's everything I didn't know about you."
"Oh… I'm sorry." Lucas was quiet for a moment. "I can tell you everything I remember when we get back, alright?"
"Don't be sorry, please don't be." She insisted with him, lifting her head up to look at him. "I don't want you to feel bad in the slightest, I'm sorry I just can't handle it."
"Don't worry about it, Mel. It is sort of my fault. I'm happy to explain everything I remember to you when we get back."
"If you really don't mind, that would probably be best." Melissa whispered, studying his face as they walked. "Are you alright? Did I upset you?"
