@Pickles group

Also yeah, the whole point of Gabe was that he sucked.

@SpookyScarySnoteleks group

even the end of the first one is pretty fucking dark. i mean??? how can you look at That scene and not think 'hey dude wHAT'

You think that’s dark? I didn’t think it was that bad..

WHAT WAS IT???

none of it was THAT bad but for a book that i remember being marketed to like fourth graders at my school lmao

there were plenty of scenes there. The Poker Statue. the scorpion.

I mean, I approve of the ending, because I’m sorry but Mr Blowfish was a prick and no one can disagree with me on that

Wasn't it Paul who's last name was Blofis?

Yeah, Paul's the good one
Gabe's the asshole

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

PJO wasn't as good as HP. The first series was good, each book getting better, but the first one you could see some inexperience. The second series is eh because the quality wasn't quite as good, but the new characters make up for it, though Percy loses a bit of character because of another who shares a major characteristic that gets . (That sentence end is a joke sort of.) The series afterwards is trash and no one would read it if it weren't by Rick.
Kane Chronicles is great, but the Norse one is super lame according to what I've heard.

@Moxie group

I think the quality of the second series is good, I think it was just a little rushed and all over the place after the third book. I loved the first three. After those I got a little lost.
I'm confused by your Percy argument. I would love to argue against it but I need some clarification first.
The Magnus Chase series is amazing. See my previous argument.

@Pickles group

Magnus Chase was great, so was the first TOA, but I never finished the second.
Also hot take: The Kane Chronicles were great, but they're overhyped among the people that know about them.

@croccin-champagne

I mean, fair. But I put down the Apollo one.

i disagree with you on MC but like. this is a mood. i wanted so bad to read ToA but i just could't

@Pickles group

Dude
Magnus Chase is awesome

I heard that the characters were too similar to PJO.

Bruh the "Rick Riordan: I need a character that's not like Percy. I know! This is Magnus and he hates blue" textpost or whatever it is, is not saying the characters are too similar. It's a joke. Ik you have trouble understanding them sometimes but come on

@evastardust groupRRAAAARRL

Tbh I'd just read plot summaries and skip to The Burning Maze O.O

kane chronicles was the SHIT for mixed kid rep and had sadie kane, enough said there. i also liked the egyptian mythology a lot. i think if rick had written it a few years later though it could have been like, even more top tier

I checked it out from the school library, tried to read it, and it did not go well
I couldn't even finish the first few chatpers

@Moxie group

I liked Apollo and Meg. Everything else was alright

I just started it for Estelle but I never even got to her

Honestly Rick Riordan is the King of representation that's mainstream. I aspire to be like him

The writing was just not great. I've read The Red Pyramid several times fairly recently and it was just. Very forced. I enjoyed Sadie immensely, I would probably die for Carter and the cat goddess could kill me and I'd thank her aggressively. I thought the plot was a little strange and I knew nowhere near enough about Egyptian mythology to keep up the first time I read it. But sometimes I just sat back like "Rick? Is it really you writing this?"

@croccin-champagne

also dom imma fight you on hp being better than pjo. pjo's worldbuilding was the best, jay kay arr didn't even account for race in her worldbuilding, basing her magic system entirely around white people

Yes

Also Dom, you should read MC just for Sam. I think you'd like her.
