Jude smiled, making little kissy faces at Buttons as he pet him. "Yes. A sweet little thing, aren't you?" He cooed, letting out a soft laugh as it nuzzled his hand.

"Of course, that's why we're here," Jude said with a nod, smiling as he gestured at the crammed bookshelves around them, "There are different sections around here, let's look around. Did you wanna find anything in particular?"

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx nodded a little bit, then shrugged. "Uhm…I don't know." He replied, looking around the building.

(ends up getting a book that has smut in it somewhere. "Jude, what's a… prostate and why are they…?")

"M'kay, then let's just wander around," Jude said with his own shrug, smiling as he ran a finger along the shelved volumes. "There's a pretty big variety, and most of the books have a description of what its about– on the back of the cover. Grab whatever looks interesting?"

(red-faced and pointing it out: is this what sex is supposed to be???)

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx nodded a little bit, setting Buttons down so that he could look at the books better, reading the backs of the books that he pulled out.

(Nyx can't blush so he'd just be looking up at Jude with this big, wide eyes like "you didn't say it was like that" and Jude's like…O.O)

Jude smiled as Buttons sauntered away, turning his attention to the rows of books around them. He wandered through the art and film section, tilting his head as he read the titles printed along the spines of the books.

(Jude, wishing he'd just shown him a video: "Mhhh, i thought i did– but yeah…that's what…its like, basically. Oof.)

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx kept looking at the different books, a soft, happy smile on his face. He looked at different books, putting them back when he wasn't interested.

Jude ran his gaze over the high stacks of books messily placed around the shop, cramming walkways and filling corners with the dusty volumes and weathered classics. He curiously peeked inside a picture book of film stills from the sixties, marvelling at the collection of black-and-white photographs.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx kept looking around at the books, examining the covers and reading the synopsis of each one, a faint, soft little smile on his face.

Jude absentmindedly flipped through a few biographies, crouching down to pet Buttons when he'd nudged his leg after wandering back into the room. Candles burned somewhere out of sight, and the sweet smells drifted through the little store as they browsed through the shelves of books.

Jude strayed over to where Nyx was walking around. "Found some good stuff?" He prompted, smiling as he glanced down at the little collection of books in his arms.

Deleted user

"Hmm, nice, nice," Jude quietly chuckled, nodding as Nyx excitedly showed him the books, "Did you get any classics? –You don't have to, but there are tons of older editions in this place."

Deleted user

"Right." Jude said with a faint wince, nodding. "Well– they're typically older, and probably a little strange sounding. I think there's a section for classical literature somewhere…" He trailed off, getting distracted by Buttons headbutting his legs, "But you've got some that you're excited about? That's great."

Deleted user

Jude followed a little behind him, letting the eye-catching titles distract him as he moved around the bookshelves.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx headed to the classics, looking around curiously with a soft smile on his face. "Jude." He said. "How do I tell which ones are old?"

Deleted user

Jude peeped his head around the corner. "Oh," He nodded, moving towards the long rows of books. "–Well, they kinda look like this:" Jude said as he pulled out a gilt-edged copy of Don Quixote with its cover of calligraphy and stylized patterns along the border.

Deleted user

"No, they're all different," Jude said, nodding as he looked down at the book, "But they all have like, this particular style that you don't see in newer ones. This place has some collectable editions around; you can kinda tell it's old just by looking at it."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Nyx frowned a little bit. "I don't understand." He replied slowly, looking at Jude. "What's…the difference, then?" He asked, cocking his head.

Deleted user

"Well, these are classics, I guess," Jude said, nodding as he ran a finger over the spines of the shelved books, "So, older, kind of strange looking, and held in a 'higher regard', compared to newer ones. There are lots of copies of these classics, though some are more valuable than others, just cause they're older."

@ElderGod-Icefire

He frowned a little bit. "I don't really understand." he admitted, feeling a little stupid for not knowing any of this. For not knowing anything about the world he lived in. He looked down at his feet.

Deleted user

"Hm? It's okay." Jude softly told him, taking a gentle step closer as he tried to meet Nyx's gaze, "What don't you understand?"

Deleted user

Jude faintly shrugged, glancing down at the copy of Don Quixote. "Cause they're rare, I guess," He told him, "These stories are famous– so it's like having a part of history."

@ElderGod-Icefire

"But– why are they famous?" He asked, still confused and hating that he was confused, hating that he didn't know jack shit about this.
