"Fair enough. Can't say I am either." Danny raised his palms. "Just wonderin', man, not an attack or anythin'."
"Fair enough. Can't say I am either." Danny raised his palms. "Just wonderin', man, not an attack or anythin'."
(gtg, sorry)
"Didn't think it was." he replied with a little shrug, taking a sip of his drink.
(ah, gn!)
"Yeah, alright, alright." Danny crossed his arms behind his head. "..I just realized I definitely stole you away from that dude you were talkin' to. Fuck."
(gn!)
"'s fine." he replied, waving a hand in dismissal. "It wasn't likely to end in anything real, no big deal. One night stands are great an' all, but that wasn't what I wanted tonight, so no biggie."
"Nah, it's not? You're welcome, then." Danny clicked his tongue and winked. "Saved ya from it."
He laughed a little bit. "I'm perfectly capable of saving myself, but thank you." He replied, looking over at the other and laughing.
"Hey- I'm perfectly capable of drivin' a car, but I still take a bus." Danny replied, scratching the back of his neck. "Basically the same situation."
He cocked his head slightly. "Not…really, but okay." He replied with a shrug, taking a sip from his water.
"Pretty sure it is." Danny snorted, raking his fingers through the back of his hair. "It makes sense, at least."
"Ehhh. Maybe to you, but okay." He shrugged, looking over at Danny and shaking his head.
"If it makes sense it me, that's all it needs to do." Danny moved to spread his knees further apart, hooking his ankles around the base of the stool.
He shrugged. "Right, unless you're using it in conversation, in which case it's best if both people understand."
"Debatable." He shook his head, finishing off his water.
He laughed a little. "Not… really, but fine." He replied, shaking his head and taking another small sip of his water.
Danny ordered another water, turning back to Alex. "..So." He chewed on his nail. "Kinda tired of talkin' about myself. What's life been like?"
He shrugged a little bit. "Eh. 's been fine, I guess. Dad's stabilized, for now." he replied, looking down at the bar for a moment.
"'T's good to hear." Danny nodded, waiting a moment before sipping his water. "'For now' is better'n not at all."
He nodded, biting his lip and closing his eyes. "Yes, but…he's still dying. Hell, I'm still dying."
The werewolf rubbed his eyes. "Yeah." He sighed, pressing his thumb to his teeth. "Yeah. No, I guess- yeah, you're right. Sorry."
"It's fine. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to fuck up the mood like that. 's just…I've gotten used to that fact, so it's…sometimes I forget that most people aren't."
"Nah, man, it's fine. Don't sweat it." Danny shook his head. "It's weird to hear, yeah, but like– I guess it's just.. I dunno. Sometimes you just.. who knows? Just part of life."
He laughed a little bit. "Yeah. Like other people make plans for their sixties, and they figure they'll figure out death and stuff then, but like…I've already planned out my goddamn funeral? Because I don't know when I'm gonna lose it for the last time? And I have a will. Which is kinda useless as I don't own all that much. But still."
"Planning's planning. Don't matter when, don't matter how." Danny mumbled. "I got that shit worked out too, man. I know just who I want to deal with my dumbass corpse." He rubbed his eyes. "Just good to be prepared."
Alex shrugged a little bit. "Yeah. Still. I just…I have a lot less time than everyone else does."
"Yeah." Danny nodded. He wasn't sure where else to take this- Alex didn't kill the conversation, but he felt weird trying to relate. Their situations when it came to death were nowhere near the same, barely even in the same ballpark.
Alex took a deep breath. "Let's talk about something else, yeah?" he said, raising his eyebrows a little bit.
"Yeah. That wouldn't hurt." Danny agreed with a slightly laugh. "Definitely wouldn't hurt."
He laughed, looking over at Danny. "Yeah."
Danny drummed his fingers on the bar, falling quiet. He wasn't really sure where to take this, having exhausted most of his conversation topics.
He thought for a moment. "Oh! I finally got past my writer's block and the story is going better!" he said, taking another sip of water.
