"Yeah. No kissing in public at first, but eventually, it'll be happening obviously. They'll be pretty suspicious by then." He laughed.
"Yeah. No kissing in public at first, but eventually, it'll be happening obviously. They'll be pretty suspicious by then." He laughed.
Giving a soft laugh back, Melissa ran her fingers through her hair. "Maybe on a baseball night? If we start then, after you win it wouldn't be too questionable."
"Yeah. Assuming we win, that is." Lucas lay his head on Melissa's shoulder, humming softly. "Our team is pretty good, though, so we probably will…"
"You'll win at least one game. You can't possibly lose every game of the season. Knock on wood." Melissa smiled sweetly, running her fingers through her hair.
"Mm… I guess so. I'll try to win for you, yeah?" Lucas kissed Melissa again and smiled softly. "First game won't be for a couple weeks, though."
To speak, she had to pull away just slightly. "Then you'll have to wait for your kiss." She hummed, pressing her lips back on his. "Though as long as people aren't around…" Melissa whispered, savoring the taste of his lips on hers.
"Mm… sounds good to me." Lucas closed his eyes and sighed contentedly, happy to just kiss Melissa for now.
After a few more seconds, she pulled back slowly. Of course she didn't want to stop, but she knew they needed to. "I love you… a lot." Melissa whispered to him, pressing her forehead against his.
"I love you too, Melissa… I'm glad I finally worked up the nerve to tell you I liked you." He smiled again and sighed contentedly.
"I am too… I may have done something stupid if you hadn't." She whispered, pulling back so she could settle up against him. "Possibly decided I didn't actually like you, and forced my feelings down."
"That would be very unfortunate, wouldn't it?" Lucas kissed Melissa's cheek and looked out at the willow branches.
"It would be, on both of our parts. I'd be trying to get my affections set on someone else." Melissa smiled sweetly, following his gaze outwards.
"Mm. Hopefully we'd still be friends, though. I don't know where I'd be without you in my life, Melissa." He smiled a bit brighter.
"Oh, of course. I wouldn't ditch you, just because I thought you didn't like me. I really don't like when people do that." She nodded, scanning over the branches slowly.
"That's good. I mean, I didn't take you to be that kind of person, of course. We're best friends. I know you."
Flicking the tip of his nose, she laughed lightly. "Good thing, you doofus." She laughed, pressing her lips to the end of his nose.
Lucas stuck his tongue out playfully, blushing again when she kissed his nose. "Yeah, yeah… I think we talk often enough, hmm?"
"I would certainly hope so." Melissa smirked softly, taking note of the soft blush creeping on his face. "Especially since I know almost every way to make you turn pink."
Lucas blushed a bit harder and looked away, toying with his hair. "I'd imagine it would be pretty difficult to remember them all, to be honest… I'm pretty easy to make blush."
"I can go down the list I have," She snickered lightly before dropping the subject. "But I'll leave you alone for now."
Lucas nodded, looking out at the branches again. He'd always found them very pretty. "Like I said, there's a lot. Anything that seems like it might possibly make a person blush would probably make me blush."
"How do you survive? Don't you over-heat or something?" She asked him with a raised brow, pressing the back of her cool hand to his forehead. "Or like… I don't know, just get really uncomfortable?"
Lucas blushed again when she touched him and shrugged. "I guess I'm just used to it. And I don't usually blush so much I'd be in danger of fainting."
"Well, that's a good sign." Melissa chirped with a sweet smile. "Though I just did something again, there's apparently nothing I can do to not make you blush."
Lucas blushed harder, embarrassed. "Y-Yeah… I told you, it's super easy to make me blush… I get flustered a lot."
Huffing a bit, she drummed her fingers on her knee. "I'm going to try to keep from doing or saying things that make you blush. It'll make the whole 'we're not dating' thing run smoother."
Lucas shrugged a bit. "I mean, our friends are probably used to it by now. They fluster me too because they think it's funny. Albeit, they can't fluster me as much as you do, but I digress."
Snickering softly, Melissa pulled herself away from him just a bit so she could stretch. "That is true, but I also think there's other reasons behind teasing you." She hummed out, before leaning back into his arms.
"What do you mean?" Lucas asked, confused. He held her close when she returned to his arms and rested his head on top of hers.
Shaking her head with a small smile, she attempted to keep from laughing. "You think you would've guessed it, some of our friends like you. Though I shouldn't be picking on you, I only just figured out you liked me."
