"I'll tell you later. It's not safe here," he curled his wings around himself, feeling a bit embarrassed that he was so close to this girl. Chakuro's feathers were dropping everywhere and he picked one up, trying to tuck it back into his wing.
Charlie's gaze wandered down towards the feather's dropping on the ground, but she quickly looked back up at him. She nodded slowly, trying to figure out what he was exactly. She had never seen anything like it, but it was beautiful.
Chakuro laughed awkwardly and dropped to the ground, picking up his feathers as his horns bumped into her leg.
Charlie dropped down next to the boy, deciding to help him pick up the feathers. "How do you have wings. . .?" She asked, glancing up at him, her curiosity getting the best of her. Their mother had always scolded Charlie for her questions, calling them 'idiotic' and a 'nuisance.'
"I…was born with them? So was my brother. Half-demon, I guess." Chakuro said, a bit distracted when he realized that the last time a half-demon had appeared was hundreds of thousands of years ago. He was giving away his past. "I mean, we're pretty rare nowadays."
Charlie nodded, racking her mind for any books she had read on half-demons. The only thing she could remember were a few facts, mostly religious writings, but all that was said about them was that they only appeared in rare occasions. As she picked up one of the last feathers and handed it to him, she tried to think of a question. Their name, Charlie. "What's your name then?" She asked.
"My name is Chakuro." he replied, taking the feathers. He smiled, the gold flecks on his green eyes standing out in the sun.
"I'm Charlotte, but I go by Charlie." She answered, a small smile playing on her lips. She brushed her hair back as she pushed herself up.
"Hello Charlie." Chakuro stood up when she did and only then did he realize that he had been holding his breath.
Noa and Noelle were quietly talking with each other, before Noelle nodded and started back for the palace. Noa, on the other hand, joined Chakuro and Charlie. “My lord, miss,” she said, dipping her head to each of them in turn.
"Hello Chakuro," Charlie smiled, turning towards her twin. "This is my brother, August."
"Hello August, and…?" Chakuro turned towards the new girl, questioning her name. "Please don't call me lord."
Noa and Noelle were quietly talking with each other, before Noelle nodded and started back for the palace. Noa, on the other hand, joined Chakuro and Charlie. “My lord, miss,” she said, dipping her head to each of them in turn.
Lord? I've been talking to a king? Charlie looked away, feeling flustered. She turned towards the girl, bowing down to her in return.
“I’m Princess Noa, my lord,” she said,. “It’s customary. Required. Royal etiquette.” She looked up, pink eyes intensely watching the two.
Charlie watched the girl, her olive green eyes sparking with curiosity. Wings, pink eyes. . . how much have I never seen?
“And you are?” She asked, turning to Charlie.
"Please, I'm just Chakuro to all of you. Lord to the chancellor though." Chakuro laughed, glancing at the chancellor who as up on the balcony. He stole a glance at Charlie, noting her beautiful eyes.
". . . Charlotte Abbott." She finally replied after a moments pause, bowing her head at the princess.
“Lovely to meet you, Charlotte,” she said. “But really, formalities aside, do you need any help navigating palace life? It doesn’t seem to suit you,” she said to Chakuro.
"It doesn't." Chakuro bit his lip, "but my brother would want me to navigate it on my own. Experience it through my own eyes."
(I am slowly starting to ship Chakuro and Charlie)
She was about to ask, but didn’t say anything. It seemed to be a touchy subject “my sister and I are open to talk if you want to,” she said. “Noelle’s not feeling well right now, so she’s gone back to our rooms, but you’ll get a chance to meet her later. Both of you.”
"Okay." Chakuro smiled at Noa and Charlie, unfurling his wings so they spread to their full length.
(full length: 13 feet)
"When do the. . .games start?" Charlie asked, turning to face Chakuro. She watched as his wings unfurled, their feathers glinting in the bright sunlight.
(Should their be some sort of ball before it, when they say that rhyme and explain what will happen?)
//sure
“I don’t want to die in some ridiculous arena my so-called ‘friends’ set up,” she said, disgusted with the entire idea.
"Neither did I." Chakuro said softly.
(yeah a ball sounds good)
Charlie furrowed her brow slightly as she heard Chakuro. Neither did I. Past tense. . . She thought as she watched him carefully, deciding to not press on.
(Gtg to sleep! I'll be back soon! )
“You were a twin?” She asked, looking at him. “I’m sorry. Was that insensitive?”
