Lucas smiled softly and gently tapped the tip of her nose with his index finger. He stayed quiet as he looked up at the stars.
Lucas smiled softly and gently tapped the tip of her nose with his index finger. He stayed quiet as he looked up at the stars.
After regaining her dignity, she looked up at the stars herself. "They're just as pretty as always." Melissa hummed, pulling her knees close to her chest. "It's just…. breathtaking."
"Mhmm." Lucas yawned again and shifted his position to be more comfortable. "Still not as pretty as you."
"Lucas…" She whispered again, her face flushing. Though not as hard as before. "Why… why do you keep saying that? I really think I'm missing something."
"Because I think you're pretty. We had the whole 'I've had a crush on you since I was a baby' talk earlier, didn't we?"
"Y-yeah, but…" Her argument seemed dumb, and pointless, but she really felt like not giving in to his compliments. "I… I don't see it. I just- never mind… it's pointless to argue."
"Indeed. Just know that I find you pretty, even if you disagree." Lucas smiled softly again and looked back up at the stars.
For sure, she would remember that. It was silly, she knew that, but it felt good to know someone actually thought so. “Thanks Lu. That means more than you can imagine.”
Lucas smiled a bit more. "No problem, Mel. How long do you want to stay out here?" He asked.
Shrugging just slightly, she scanned over the stars with her green eyes. “I don’t care. As long as you’re happy out here I guess.”
"Well, we can't stay out too long… It's already late and I'd hate myself more if I slept on the roof. Your body won't thank you either."
"Have you… slept on a roof before?" Melissa asked him with a raised eyebrow, feeling like that was such an odd thing to have done.
"No, but I've slept outside on the ground and on hard surfaces." Lucas shrugged. "I'm always super sore afterwards."
Brows pinning together, she looked over to him even more confused. "Why did you sleep outside?" Melissa questioned, trying too hard to figure this out.
"Well, back when our door still locked, my dad would lock me out sometimes." Lucas shrugged again, as though this were perfectly normal. "And sometimes I did it of my own accord if I wasn't willing to deal with him. I did it relatively often, actually… sleeping in my own room is really hard too. Horrible memories in there."
"Lucas… well, I guess I can't correct you. I would have done the same thing, all without trying to be logical. I do it all of the time." Melissa sighed, forcing herself up so she was standing. "I'm gonna fall asleep out here. Let's head back in and go clean our faces."
"Alright…" Lucas stood up and stretched, heading back down with Melissa. "How do we get it off?" He asked.
"We dampen wash cloths, and rub it off. I'll help you if you need it." She hummed, linking their fingers together. "But I'm pretty sure you can figure it out from there."
"Alright." Lucas dampened a washcloth and started cleaning off his face. It didn't take him too long, and he seemed to be pretty tired when he was done. "I should go downstairs now…"
Letting out a soft sigh, she nodded with a slight pout. "Can I have a goodnight hug first?" Melissa asked him, gaze focused on the floor below them.
"Yeah, of course, Mel." Lucas smiled softly and hugged Melissa. After a minute or so of this, he pressed a soft kiss to her forehead and left.
Melissa stumbled some when he pulled back, leaving her there with a warm face. She was surprised to say the least, as her lips formed into a smile. Once in her room, she couldn't keep herself from giggling like a school girl. She was totally in love.
Lucas's face was flushed red as well, but thankfully, Melissa couldn't see him. He sighed softly and curled up on the couch to sleep. It was rather cold in here and he had no blankets, but he'd manage.
(Do we want to timeskip (possibly until morning)? Or keep going?)
Having quickly pulled on a pair of pajamas, Melissa flopped back on her bed grinning up to the ceiling. She should have known, they both liked each other. It was a clique, a lot of people got tired of. But when you're stuck in the clique, the only thing you want is for it to play out perfectly.
(I'll just time skip lol)
Lucas had awoken in the middle of the night. He was too tired to see what time it was, but he got himself a drink of water and went back to bed, exhausted. He was fast asleep by the time Melissa awoke in the morning.
(Alright aha)
It was a rather gloomy day outside, and when Melissa checked the weather it was suppose to be kind of chilly. Even without the weather app, she could figure out that much. She was freezing, wrapped up in her blankets. Though the thought of Lucas down stairs got her out of bed, and once her slippers were on she was down the stairs. Blanket over her shoulders, and one in her arms.
Lucas was still asleep when Melissa came down, shivering noticeably in his sleep. It really was cold down here, and he always seemed to be cold anyways.
Giving him a slight frown, she came around and sat on the couch next to him. Throwing one over his body, she slid down to cuddle up next to him. Maybe he wouldn't be as cold when he woke up.
Lucas relaxed a little at the extra warmth. He didn't actively cuddle up with Melissa considering he was asleep and all, but he didn't push her away either.
Humming softly, she laced their fingers together feeling calm next to him. The house was quiet and still, leaving the two friends in silence. "I don't deserve you."
