She layed her head on his chest

He continued to hold her. ”Do you want to go to the hotel and rest for a while?” he asked gently.

" we don't have a hotel yet were on the road" she mumbled

”We can go back to the last hotel we stayed at or… I know Evan owns one nearby.” he told her.

She shook her head "we'll just keep driving" she said

”Are you sure you’re up for it?” he asked, wanting her to heal.

"I'll be okay" she said tenderly kissing his cheek " I'll rest when we get to the hotel I promise" she said kissing him

He smiled softly as he carefully returned the kiss. “Alright, my angel. But I’m going to hold you to that.” he teased. ”If you're in any pain during the trip, let me know. I want to take care of you.” he added honestly.

She nodded "I know"

”Ok.” he smiled, kissing her again. ”I think everyone else should be by now if you're ready to go.”

She nodded holding out her hand

He took her hand in his and kissed it before carefully leading her out of the hospital.

They were by the car when she handed him her brace "will you put this on me please" she asked

”Of course.” he nodded as he accepted the brace.

”Need a hand?” Evan asked, upon seeing them and what Betty needed.

Lysander glanced back at his brother before sighing. ”Sure. Would you mind if he held your hair for a moment so I can put this on you?” he asked his wife.

"I don't mind" she said

Evan smiled and walked behind her before gently gathering her hair in a loose ponytail, lifting it over her head but not pulling.

Lysander nodded his thanks and carefully put the brace in place. ”How’s that feel?” he asked her.

"it hurts a little but it's not too bad" she said

Lysander nodded. ”Well, let me know if it starts to bother you too much or if you want it adjusted.” he said as Evan opened the car door for them.

She got in first sitting in the middle she turned to Laurabeth " can mommy have one of your stuffed animals for her neck" she asked

Laura-Beth didn't understand why her mama was wearing that thing around her neck but nodded, holding out Dumbo and Princess the giraffe for her, figuring that her mama wanted to feel better.

Lysander got in behind Betty and shut the door as Evan jumped over the car before climbing, in the other door.

She smiled taking the giraffe "thank you sweetheart"

Laura-Beth smiled back and hugged her elephant close to her. ”Feel better, mama?”

"yeah sweetie " she said turning around in her seat putting the girrafe behind her neck

Laura-Beth giggled as she buried her face in her toy, glad that she had been able to help her mama.

Betty closed her eyes

Lysander leaned back in his seat and placed his hand over Betty's.

she shifted her hand so thier fingers were interlocked

He smiled at the gesture and gently gave her hand an affectionate squeeze.

she smiled a small smile her eyes still closed

He sighed, wanting to hold her but he had a general idea of how painful neck injuries could be… Basically everything hurts.
