“You’re all of them and more. So gentle I could kiss you right now and wouldn’t stop until tomorrow. And your touch feels so good. It’s like you’ve known me before and so you know how to make me feen better.”

@Becfromthedead group

“I don’t know, I think we have some of the same problems,” Cyrus said, “That’s great in terms of understanding each other.”
He sat up a little further.
“I probably need to get ready to go, you know… I don’t want to keep the old man waiting too long. Might get impatient.”

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus nodded gently. He looked up at Cyrus and sighed before he slipped off the other male and flopped back down into the bed. “Th-that would be best… be careful, alright?” He murmured, biting his lip as he watched the other.

@Becfromthedead group

“I will. I’ll keep you updated,” Cyrus said, “Hopefully it won’t be long.”
He brushed a hand against Marcus’ cheek.
“What’re you going to be up to today?”

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus leaned into the touch, closing his eyes. “I think I’m just going to rest. My leg is killing me and I feel like death.” He pouted, sighing deeply as he shifted to curl into Cyrus’s side.

@Toxic_Persephone group

Ginger curls bounced as Marcus shook his head. “Just some rest. Maybe a water… but I can get that myself.” He let his eyes wander up To Cyrus’s face, reaching up to touch the smooth curve of it. “You Can focus on what you need to do, I’ll be okay. It’s not the worst thing ever, just a few stitches. I’m not dying so that’s a bonus.”

@Becfromthedead group

"I know, but still," Cyrus said, "It's just in my nature to take care of others wherever I can."
He straightened out his back.
"Take care, love. I'll… I'll keep you posted, and I'll come back when I'm able."
Cyrus started to get up, but he did not want to leave at all.

@Toxic_Persephone group

“Mhm, I like that about you. You’re caring.” Marcus pecked him on the cheek, smiling warmly at the other.
“Okay, be safe. Knock on the door when you get back, I’ll come get it.” He watched Cyrus, his eyes saddened to see the other go.
“Bye.”

@Becfromthedead group

Cyrus left one last kiss on Marcus' forehead and waved.
"Bye," he rasped, trying not to let his nerves show. He walked out the door.

Cyrus returned to his own gang about half an hour later and went into his father's office. Lazarus scoffed when Cyrus walked in and motioned for him to sit down.
"Well, well, well… You finally decided to show up, huh?"
"I didn't intend to stand you up… Not when you have work for me to do," Cyrus replied meekly, "Speaking of which, what kind of job are we talking about?"
Lazarus leaned back in his desk chair and chuckled. He slid a paper with a picture attached by a paperclip across the desk.
"Oh, you'll have a grand old time with this one. I guarantee it."
Cyrus looked down at the picture and gasped.
(Should the target be someone important, if you've got anyone in mind? Otherwise, it can just be like… someone Cyrus knew or something like that.)

@Toxic_Persephone group

(I don’t have anyone in mind, go for what you think would be good! My brain is an abyss rn)

Marcus sighed loudly. He curled back up in the blankets to sleep for just a little bit longer.
He woke about an hour later to his stomach growling.

The gang member slid out of the bed, limping into the kitchen to grab a packet of ramen noodles. He quite liked how easy they were to make.

@Becfromthedead group

(That's a mood, mine too. I've spent the past couple of days sick again, and my whole brain is mush.)
Cyrus clutched the paper in his hand as he left the office, staring dead at the picture attached. He deserved better. He deserved so much better.
He tried everything he could to get out of the hit before leaving.
"Father, I have a conflict of interest here!"
"No, boy. It has to be you because you know where to find him better than anyone else."
"But why?" Cyrus choked, "What did he do wrong?!"
"Oh, it's not what he did wrong. The Silence thinks that he has some intel about them that he might divulge to… unwanted people. We got offered good money to take the hit instead, since we've had… dealings with him before. It's for the good of everyone, honestly. In fact, I think it'll help you to let things go."
Cyrus left shaking. This was the one ex he had left on okay terms. He had a few days to get the job done, but he wasn't sure whether to get it over with, or to try an alternate plan while pretending to find his whereabouts.
Cyrus picked up his phone.
Just got my assignment, he messaged Marcus.
I have a few days to do it, and I might be able to slip some of my stuff out of the house while he's at work
Besides, I have a problem, and I need someone to talk to

@Toxic_Persephone group

(Oh no! I hope you’re feeling better soon!)

Marcus nearly lunges for his phone as it went off on the counter. He lifted it up to his face, grinning brightly at the contact.

Thats good! You could have a few things already here. You might want to start with clothes.

Marcus giggled to himself, imagining Cyrus trying to fit into his clothes.

Whats wrong? Did something happen?

@Becfromthedead group

(It's all good. I just keep coming down with these damn colds. This is my third one this year… My immune system decided it doesn't care about me anymore ig)
Well…
It's about the assignment. Something weird happened. I'll tell you when I get back.
There's a lot to unpack there…

Cyrus headed home and started packing a suitcase, mainly with clothes, but also with some toiletry items, a few books, and some other things he thought he might need to start out with.

He started to head out the door.
"Hey! Just where are you going with all that?"
Cyrus grumbled, "I'm on an assignment. Fuck off, Nina…"
"Oh, I've heard all about that assignment, and I don't think anything about it requires you to go a long distance."
"I'm staying at the house of a friend who has intel," Cyrus lied, "I have a bunch of books and files, plus my computer… they wouldn't all fit in my other bag."
"You better not try to run away, brother. Otherwise, I'll find you, and you'll wish you were dead."
Nina pulled a knife and traced it against Cyrus' neck and collarbone. She cut shallow on his collar. Cyrus couldn't tell whether it was on purpose or not.
"Oopsie!" she giggled, lowering the weapon.
Cyrus shoved past.
"Don't talk to me. Don't even look at me. We've been over this. We live together, but you and I? We're not on speaking terms."
He scurried out the door and got back to Marcus.
On my way

@Toxic_Persephone group

(Dang! That’s no fun! I hate colds. They’re annoying)

Marcus let his eyebrows knit together, taking a bite out of his noodles as he read through Cyrus’s texts.

Okay, be safe! Come back soon, alright?

He didn’t hit send quite yet, debating for a moment or two before he added:

<3

To the end.

@Becfromthedead group

(Yeah, but I figure at least I'm at home for the forseeable future and only have to attend class online, so I get to rest.)
After a little bit, Cyrus came up to Marcus' door and knocked. He waited there, resting against his suitcase. He scrolled through his phone a bit while waiting for an answer.

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus hobbled to the door, opening it with a bright, happy smile. “Welcome back!!” He squeaked, hugging Cyrus and nuzzling into his shirt. “Is it bad I missed you?” He giggled at himself, looking up at the tired male he hugged.

“How did it go? Want to come sit down?” He asked, gently tugging Cyrus into the room with him.

@Becfromthedead group

“Ow…” Cyrus muttered as Marcus leaned into where the cut was.
He still hugged back.
“Yeah, yeah.”
He sat down next to Marcus, then reached into his bag, pulling out the file and the picture.
“So um… the guy I’ve been told to kill is… a former boyfriend of mine, and actually not a shitty guy… I’m told he has Silence intel and may be a danger to the organization, but… I don’t want to kill him.”

@Toxic_Persephone group

“Oh! Sorry! Did I hurt you?” He asked, pulling away until he noticed the cut. “What happened?!” His green eyes went wide at the line of red. He hardly paid attention as the other male pulled the file out as he carefully dabbed at the wound with the sleeve of his shirt.

“They’re making you kill your ex…?” He asked softly, looking down at the file. “I-if you… don’t want to do it, I- well, I could. For you.”

@Becfromthedead group

"It's okay… My sister was messing with me and… she cut me. It's… it's whatever…"
Cyrus sighed and bit his lip.
"Look, I don't want him dead at all," he said, "He's not a bad person. He doesn't deserve to be dragged into this. If… if there was a way to get out of this completely…"

@Toxic_Persephone group

“I still don’t like it. Messing around or not, it’s not right to-“ he cut himself off, frowning. No it wasn’t right, but neither of them could do anything about it. Just as Marcus couldn’t do anything to stop Marx from harming him.

That was just how their lives worked.

“I have a way… he’d have to completely change himself and move, though. Like, completely ditch this place.” Marcus murmured gently. “Arson fires are hard to solve… even more so if there’s no DNA left…”

@Becfromthedead group

"He's stubborn as hell, but I'm thinking the same thing, if he would only listen. However, he lives in an apartment, so arson might be a bit tricky. I think if we talked to him, he would work with us. Would you be willing to help me out?" Cyrus asked, "I'm sure he and I could figure things out alone, but I feel like your help would be valuable. Plus, I feel safer with you around."

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus nodded, slipping his hand into Cyrus’s. “They think he’s got something on the Silence right?” He asked, frowning at the name. Such a simple, stupid name and yet it struck fear into his very soul. He rubbed at his arm, where the scar of the letters he had carved into his own flesh burned. “I can help… if he’s got anything against my gang I’ll help.”

@Becfromthedead group

Cyrus' eyes flicked towards Marcus.
"I- th-thank you… How are you feeling? We can meet with him this evening if you're alright. Although I ought to warn you, he's very intimidating. Wouldn't hurt a fly, though."
He folded his hands nervously.
"Actually… he lives like ten blocks from here. It's not that far…"

@Toxic_Persephone group

“I’m feeling fine. We can go tonight.” He flashed a smile, but there was something not quite right with the light in his eyes - a bloodlust that called for the destruction of the people who were supposed to protect him.

“We could walk or take a bus or something.” He offered, stretching his good leg out.

@Becfromthedead group

"It's up to you," Cyrus said, "If your leg's feeling bad, I'll pay our bus fare."
He moved his suitcase up against the wall and unzipped it, looking for a particular outfit.
"I doubt this will happen, but we should go armed in case he gets violent."

@Toxic_Persephone group

Marcus glanced down at his leg and bit his lip as he thought over it. “Let’s walk. I’ll be okay with that. And as for the weapons,” he patted his pocket. “I never go anywhere without them.”

@Becfromthedead group

"Understandable. I do the same," Cyrus said, "We can go when you're ready. I'm not going to tell him we're coming. It's better if we leave as little trace as possible that we interacted with him."

@Toxic_Persephone group

“I’m ready when you are.” Marcus leaned over to steal a quick kiss, smiling as he stood. It still hurt to put weight on anything really but Marcus has been through it enough times to be used to it. Honestly he was only acting a little more hurt than usual because he liked being babied by Cyrus.

@Becfromthedead group

Cyrus quickly started to change his clothes, into something a little more relaxed.
"Alright, I'm ready too. I'll lead the way."
He buttoned his pants and made sure he had his money and weapons before starting towards the door.
