Zanna was now keeping sn eye on the surroundings figuring since Day was speeding they would arrive sooner than later. She spotted the slight bareness in the surrounding trees that would be big enough for a vehicle. Her good hand let go if the bloodied bandages and pointed it out to Day, “There, up head. I don’t recommend going down the path at full speed though.”

@Moriarty

Day slowed the vehicle– and it jolted to a stop, since he was going a tad too fast to stop slowly. He swerved onto the path, biting his tongue as the big vehicle bounced and jolted onto the little dirt road. He slowed to a more acceptable speed. "Nice. I always liked forest settings," he commented blankly, as casual as anyone fleeing the military could be.

@ShadeStar

Zanna gritted her teeth as they made the rough turn. She held onto her injury tightly trying not to let it jostle to much. She let out a short laugh, “Yeah. It’s better than most other settings I suppose. You can stop and park whenever. It might be smart to go on foot for the remainder of the treck. Harder to track.”

@Moriarty

"Good point." Day pulled the vehicle over and shut the truck off, glancing at Zanna. "How far is it?" His gaze dropped to her injured arm, working his jaw back and forth slightly as he thought. "Think you can hold out alright til' we get there?"

@ShadeStar

“From here? Maybe a twenty minute walk on foot,” Zanna responded unbuckling. Her arm was still throbbing in pain and she was beginning to get dizzy from blood-loss. She looked back to Day as she grabbed the bloodied bandages on her arm, “Don’t worry about me, I’ll make it through.”

@Moriarty

Day sniffed, looking thoroughly unconvinced. "Mhm." He swung open the truck door and climbed out, his boots thudding softly against the dirt as they made contact with the ground. He sucked in a breath of fresh air and exhaled. "Welp– Let's get going, then. When you're ready."

@ShadeStar

Zanna slipped out of the truck having to pause for a moment as her head spun. She shook it once to try and reorientate herself before starting to walk off into the forest towards the house. At least she hoped she was moving towards the house, "It's this way. Follow me."

@Moriarty

Day followed her, calmly eyeing their surroundings. He approved of it. The secluded, forest setting. He just hoped the stupid military didn't show up and drop a bomb on them. That would suck. A lot. His gaze flickered back to Zanna. He almost reiterated his question as to whether or not she was okay, but he decided against it.

@ShadeStar

Zanna made it a full 15 steps into the forest and away from the truck before she was leaning against a tree trying to get the world to stop spinning. She needed to make it to the house, she needed to show Day there, then she could collapse. The military could come at any moment, but it was clear she was in no condition to move on her own, that didn't mean she wasn't going to stop trying.

@Moriarty

"I think you need to stop," Day said blankly, stopping beside her. "You look like you're about to go down. And if you go down, we're both screwed." Wording it like that made him feel a little better. A little sentimental. Like he was only worried about her because if affected his wellbeing, too.
Even though that wasn't really the case. He paused a moment, glancing at the woods around them, up at the sky, down at the ground. "I'll carry you. You just tell me which way to go."

@ShadeStar

Zanna let out a sigh as she held her arm. She looked up at him feeling useless, even though that wasn't necessarily true. After a moment or so she let out another sigh seeing that the world was still spinning around her, "Fine. You. You'll need to come over and pick me up."

@Moriarty

Day was glad she didn't argue, because he wasn't asking. She carried him before when it was necessary. It was the least he could do, really. "A'ight." He seemed to have no problem with this, lifting her up into his arms without a problem. Once he had her and made sure he wouldn't drop her, he glanced back in the direction they'd been headed. "Okay. This way, then?"

@ShadeStar

Zanna would have been more bothered by this if she was in a better condition. She leaned against him glad still holding onto her injured arm trusting him not to drop her. He had had plenty of time to recover, so he shouldn't have a problem. She finally processed the question and looked to the direction he was referencing, "Um, yeah. That way."

@Moriarty

"Alrighty." Day held her against himself, mindful of her injury as he started along in the given direction. He must've thought it was a bit too quiet, because he started humming to himself as he walked. He kept a good pace, not wanting to waste time– especially not with Zanna fading from her injury.

@ShadeStar

Zanna tried to focus on where they were, but lost track quickly. Did her limbs always feel this heavy? It didn't matter she needed to focus on getting them to the house. She started to focus on the sound of his humming to keep her focused. Since she couldn't do it on her surroundings. After some time walking Zanna managed to point off to the left, "A few more minutes that way, and we're there."

@Moriarty

Day turned and headed left. "I'm starting to wonder if you really know where we're going, or if you're just having fun pointing me around," he joked, sounding fairly upbeat for a man who had been whipped and imprisoned and was wandering the forest carrying his injured acquaintance. He kept walking and humming until eventually, the house she had mentioned before came into view. "Well, would you look at that. Either that's a mirage and I've officially snapped, or we're here. Maybe you did know what you were talking about after all."

@ShadeStar

Zanna let out a bark of a laugh as she listened to him. Of course, she knew where she was going. Even in her less than prime state of mind, she knew the route like the back of her hand. Her eyes were starting to feel heavy now that she knew they had made it to the house. She muttered, "Of course I knew where we were going. If I wanted to have fun I would have pointed you towards the cliff."

@Moriarty

"Ouch. I see how it is. Get a guy to carry you and walk him right off the edge of a cliff. Women these days," Day rambled nonsensically, probably either bored of the silence or hoping some amiss word would lighten the mood. "And here I thought we were almost friends." He stepped up onto the porch and up to the front door, eyeing the door and windows. "Am I gonna need a key to this door, or do you want me to kick it down the old-fashioned way?"

@ShadeStar

"It should be unlocked," Zanna responded looking to the door. She thought for a moment holding the wound on her arm with whatever grip she had left. "It's one of those old deadbolt only one, and, and I'm pretty sure I left it unlocked when I left last time."

@Moriarty

Day nodded and twisted the door handle; it obeyed, opening as he shoved it inward. He crept forward into the dark house, a bit of a smirk tugging at his lips. "Ooooh, spooky." He kicked the door shut behind him with his foot. "I like it." He glanced around for a living room of sorts, hoping to find a couch where he could place his injured ally. "There any lightswitches in this place?"

@ShadeStar

"Can't remember," Zanna muttered a smile on her lips though her eyes were starting to shut. It was getting harder and harder to stay awake. She blamed bloodloss, as she should. She forced one of her eyes to stay open as she looked around muttering, "The house probably doesn't have power anyway."

@Moriarty

"Leave it to you to forget to pay the electric bill," Day muttered, finding a couch to slowly lay her down on. It was a bit dusty, so he swatted at the particles as they floated into the air, a desperate attempt to send them away. They found their way to his lungs anyways, and he coughed a few times. "Okay, so important things first–" He glanced down at her wound. "Oh. Dang it. I prolly should've grabbed a first aid kit from the truck. Are there any in here?"

@ShadeStar

"Kitchen, probably," Zanna responded sinking into the couch. She held in the delirious laughter that wanted to bubble up. Was Day trying to be funny or did Zanna just find everything funny? She wasn't entirely sure, "It's a lot cleaner than the truck too."

@Moriarty

"Okay, well. That's always good." Day ambled into the kitchen and rummaged around in the dark until he found a first aid kit. "Here we go." He returned with his prize in tow. "I had to fight off an army of spiders to get it, but I found a first aid kit." He cracked his knuckles and kneeled down beside the couch so that he could reach her arm easier. "Alright, I'm no doctor, so… if this goes wrong, don't blame me. I have bad history with people losing their limbs." He patted his own cybernetic leg.

@ShadeStar

Zanna laughed just slightly as she let her injured arm rest on the edge of the couch so he could move it better. Her vision was starting to go black, but she trusted Day. She had a weak smile on, "Hey, if it goes wrong maybe I get a cybernetic limb, and then were a pair of runaways with jacked up limbs."

@Moriarty

"Well, hopefully it won't go wrong and only one of us will have a jacked up limb." Day carefully started to peel the bandage off, revealing the bloody wound and the clotting that was starting there. He was altogether unfazed. "Oooh. They got you pretty good, didn't they?" He opened the first aid kit and started trying to get to work, cleaning the wound first before he bothered applying any antibiotics. He resumed humming as he worked, seeming pretty peachy despite the blood that was staining his fingers.
For hands that had killed so many, they were gentle with a wound.

@ShadeStar

Zanna's eyes were shut as he started to work. She tensed up just slightly at the sting of antibiotics. Otherwise, she didn't make much sound or much movement as she slowly gave way to the sweet comfort of the darkness. She trusted Day, and his gentleness told her she had made the right decision.

@Moriarty

Day did his best to clean the wound before he wrapped it tightly with bandages. He took care to make sure the bleeding would be stopped– and to make sure it wasn't too tight, so that circulation wasn't cut off altogether. After that, he sat back on his heels and admired his sloppy medical work, hoping that it would hold up and enough. He sighed lightly and stood to his feet, taking this moment now to explore the house and look around a bit, as he assumed they'd be staying here for awhile.
It was odd.
The day she came to capture him, he never expected that they'd be staying in a house together only a couple weeks later and tending to each other's wounds.

@ShadeStar

Zanna finally woke up a few hours later. She blinked trying to figure out where she was and what had happened. Considering she wasn’t in chains, she figured they had made it to the house. She sat up with a wince and looked to where her wound was to see a fresh set of bandages that weren’t bloody like her old ones. Okay, so either her or Day took care of her wound. She paused for a moment before attempting to stand up from the couch to find Day, wherever he was.

@Moriarty

"Ah." Day walked in right about that time, returning from his self-given tour of the place. "Good morning. Or should I say evening, because it's almost night." He glanced towards the window, where the sun had already disappeared beyond the treeline. "While you were asleep, I made a trip back to the truck for supplies. That think was chock full of crap we can use. Emergency meals are lifesavers. Plus I grabbed some flashlights, since this place doesn't have any electricity." He turned one on and shined it on the ground, then placed it beneath his chin to illuminate his face. "If all else fails, we can tell ghost stories in the dark." He flicked it off and eyed her bandages. "How are you feeling?"
