Both the boys got a bit wide-eyed at the explanation and Lysander covered Laura-Beth’s ears halfway through.

"yeah and Evan is-" Tyler started but Betty clamped a hand over her mouth

Lysander looked at his wife, understanding what she didn't want him to know yet. ”Evan plays JD in your performance of the play, doesn't he?” he asked already fairly certain of the answer.

"yeah" she said biting her lip

Lysander sighed and nodded in acknowledgment. Though he wasn't too happy about it, he wasn't going to ruin the play for her… It had been easier when he thought it would just be a random stranger.

”Yep. He's definitely jealous.” Henry murmured quietly.

She gulped "I'm gonna go over there yeah?" She said turning to walk away

Lysander gave a small quiet growl at Henry before turning back to his wife. ”Betty. I know how much this show means to you. I won't stop you from participating.” he assured her. ”I just…” he chuckled awkwardly. ”I guess I am a little jealous of the scene you just described but… I’ll be… I'm still happy for you.”

"you don't have to come Evan will be there a little support is all I need" she said

”Of course I support you. I'll be there. In the front row, if you like.” he told her sincerely. ”I promise. If something keeps me from your performance it would have to be life-or-death. If I just end up running late then I’ll text you or Tyler, if I have to.”

Henry cleared his throat softly. ”I’ll be there too, so he could also text me and I can whisper the message to you, Bets. I know you’d be able to here me.”

" Well I don't know why he auditioned we sing a song called our love is God although you guys can leave for that" she said

Both of them winced at the name of the song before chuckling. ”I wonder how Evan’s going to manage to sing that one.” Henry smirked.

”You don't happen to know how many times that word is mentioned in the song, do you?” Lysander asked with a small smile.

"well we sing our love is God repetitively" she said

The two men flinched again. ”I was just asking if you had a number.” Lysander clarified. ”The more words like that are said, the stronger the effect gets on us.”

Henry nodded. ”I wasn't going to say anything but… Back when Marie was a problem, I’m lucky I just lost my voice for a short while.” he admitted, not saying that he had a chance of actually dying at the time if he had kept it up.

"Evan is different he's not like you guys he shares my heart anything I can do he can" she said

”Ah. That makes sense.” Henry nodded. ”You can handle it, so can he. Me and Ly on the other hand…”

”I don't want to miss your show.” Lysander said.

"it really doesn't matter everyone in this family is notorious for missing things I missed my prom Tyler missed my student president speech Henry missed my graduation and you'll miss the show its in your nature all of you" she said

Henry looked down, embarrassed at the reminder. ”I said I was sorry for that, Bets.” he said softly.

”I won't miss your play.” Lysander promised before sighing. ”I may have to miss that one song, but I’ll be there for the rest of it.”

"yeah you weren't there for prom ethier I got a text saying sorry babe I can't make it have fun without me so I went home or tried to but I was attacked by a vampire completely sucked dry half my body ripped open and I woke up in the hospital and guess who was right there not my best friend not my boyfriend not my family Evan and. From that day forward I made a promise we made a promise to be there for each other" she said

Henry flinched harder at the tone. ”I… I didn't know about the attack…” he said softly. ”I’m sorry I wasn't there for you back then. I don't have a good enough explanation.” he apologized.

She sighed and looked at the three adults " I'm going please carry on without me I just can't enjoy myselfs around you " she said starting to walk off

Henry sighed and looked a little depressed that he had let her down so much when they had been together.

Lysander was torn between following her, wanting to let her know that she didn't have to be alone anymore or giving her a little space to calm down.

She walked away completely out of view from.them bumping into.someone she gripped onto his shoulders to keep from falling "I'm sorry I -Evan?"

”Betty?” Evan had his hands on her upper arms to keep her from falling when she bumped into him and was dressed as his character. ”I… Hi.” he smiled a little.

Her eyes traceed his entire body from his white blonde hair to.his freckled cheeks to his broad chest to his black jeans and his black cloak "You look…good….really good" she said

”Thanks.” he said with a faint blush as he looked at her. ”You… you look really good too.” he smiled.

She blushed but played it off as she wasn't "so since in this play your my boyfriend do you wanna be my date to the festival?" She asked

Evan nodded slowly. ”I would like that.” he smiled. ”I… was kinda hoping I’d get to see you here.”

She smiled and took his hand

He smiled back as he held her hand. ”What would you like to do first?” he asked, gesturing to the whole festival.
