"I've got no idea what I'd sing right now…" He laughed, looking over at her. "Though I tend to favor Irish and Scottish folk songs. They just kinda sound nice, I dunno." He shrugged. "Like Homeward Bound and Loch Lomond."

Blinking in surprise, her eyes looked him up and down. "You aren't Irish are you?" She questioned, leaning in just slightly. "Because you never told me that, and I'd consider that a pretty big secret."

"Not as far as I know." Lucas shrugged. "Though I've never taken a test for that or anything, so I guess it's possible. I just like the music because it's good."

Nodding slowly, she leaned back into her spot. "Never heard that kind of music before, but it sounds interesting." She admitted, smiling softly to her friend. "Do you have a favorite band?"

"Um… Mumford and Sons, the High Kings… those are good. Avriel and the Sequoias is good too, but they don't just do Irish and Scottish stuff." He shrugged. "I don't particularly care who's singing as long as it sounds nice. I'm a baseball player, not a musician."

Melissa broke out into a joyful laughter, holding her gut. "I have… have no idea why…. I'm laughing so hard!" She attempted to relax her laughing, but was unable to. Barely hanging in the tree, she only laughed harder.

"Mel? You good?" Lucas grabbed onto her arm and held onto her so she couldn't fall out of the tree. "Careful; you might hurt yourself."

Nodding at his statement, she still had a bright smile on her face. As she slowly relaxed, the tears running down her face were wiped away with her free arm. "I…I still don't know what that was about." She admitted, feeling the bubbly, giggly sensation still in the pit of her stomach.

Lucas looked rather worried and confused. "Did… did I say something funny…?" He asked tentatively, one hand still on Melissa's arm so she wouldn't fall out of the tree.

Adjusting herself in her spot, her face was turned to Lucas. "I guess, I mean at least I thought so." She shrugged, resting her hand on his. Lucas's grip was tight, but not enough to hurt her. It was strong and secure, making her feel secure.

Lucas nodded and hesitantly let go. He'd fallen out of this tree before, and he didn't want that to happen to Melissa. "Alright, since I told you my secrets, I think you have to tell me yours, hmm?" He raised an eyebrow, smirking a bit. "Seems only fair."

Rolling her eyes just slightly, she clicked her tongue in thought. "I was once kissed by a guy way older than me, having him think I was his ex." She shrugged, going through her mental book of secrets. "I had a crush on one of my friends for a really long time." 'Actually have, but we aren't going to talk about that.' She told herself, trying think of something to put her last one in between.

"Oh, really?" Lucas kept smirking as he looked out at the branches again. "Me too, actually. What else? This is a lot of fun when I'm not the one sharing."

Relief flooded her, as her heartbeat returned to its normal pace. "Well, have I ever told you where I grew up? Outside of America?" She hummed softly, beginning to braid her hair mindlessly while they sat in the tree.

Lucas shook his head. "No. Where did you live?" He asked curiously, watching her braid her hair. Her hands just seemed so graceful, and nimble. He wanted to hold them again, but sternly told himself no. She couldn't know that he liked her. It would ruin their friendship, and he couldn't afford that. He'd just have to get over it.

"Eldorado, Mexico." She purred, her r's rolling when she spoke. "I swear I told you, or you had at least figured it out." Twisting the wavy strands around her finger as she braided, she checked her wrist to see if she had a hair tie. Satisfied that she did, she went back to her braid with a slight hum.

"Right, Eldorado… Yeah, I think you mentioned it before, but I couldn't remember the name of the city." Lucas admired the braid with a quiet hum, seeming intrigued. Naturally, having no sisters and not being female, he didn't know anything about hair. It had always intrigued him, though.

Slowly she nodded, following his gaze to her hands. A warm smile fell on her lips, realizing what he was watching. As she tied off the end of the braid, she lifted her green eyes back to him. "Want me to do you hair? It should be long enough." Melissa offered, scooting in closer to him.

"Braid my hair?" Lucas asked, a little confused. "Um… Sure, if you can figure out a way to do that. It's not very long in the back or sides or anything, just the front."

"Why not? I do it to my brother all the time." She hummed, carefully making her way around him. Standing behind him, she slowly ran her fingers through his blonde hair. "You just seemed interested, so I thought I would offer."

Lucas relaxed when Melissa touched his hair, closing his eyes and sighing softly. He wasn't used to having anyone but himself play with his hair, but it felt unbelievably good. Even here, he was usually a bit tense, but he was completely relaxed now.

"You alright Lu?" She asked softly, twisting his hair carefully into a braid. She didn't want to hurt him, so she was doing her best to be careful. "Or were you relaxing?" She hummed, glancing at her wrist to make sure it was there.

"Hmm?" Lucas realized what he was doing and blushed a bit. "Oh! Um… yeah, I'm fine. That just feels really nice…"

Continuing to do so, she hummed softly. “It’s been a long time then… hasn’t it?” She said softly, referring to her gentle touch.

"A long time since what?" Lucas asked. He couldn't see her face, so it was a little harder to try and figure out what she meant. He relaxed into her touch again, wishing this moment would never end.

She wish she hadn’t said anything, knowing she was probably going to effect his mood. “Since you’ve gotten good physical touch.”

"Oh… yeah." Lucas still seemed to be relaxed. He didn't allow himself to think about it too much for that reason. "It's nice."

She still didn't relax, feeling bad still about bringing it up. "You really have, the softest hair." She hummed, coming to the end of the braid with a slight laugh. "And I'm thinking you should let me do your hair more often."

"I'm glad you like it, Mel." Lucas laughed a bit as well, really not wanting her to stop. "I wouldn't mind you doing this more often, honestly. Just ask and I'm sure I'll agree."

Tying off the little bit of hair at the end, she rested her chin on the top of his head. “Sounds like a good plan, as long as you’re ok with it.” She hummed, resting her hands on his shoulders gently. “You know I love hanging around you, so clearly I’ll take that as an excuse to stay with you.”
