Liz gave him one last look before she headed quietly out of the med bay. She would, of course, have to be careful. Most doctors wouldn't take kindly to a patient going for a walk around the ship. Honestly, this felt no different from the reconnaissance missions she had done before as she headed down the hall.
James lay on the bed silently waiting.
A doctor exited a room nearby and walked in Liz's direction.
Liz saw the doctor coming and quickly ducked through the nearest doorway in between them. If it lead to a hallway, she would adjust her path to James’ room. If it lead to a room, she would wait for the medic to pass before leaving.
What Liz had just entered was a large medical storage room, and also the destination of the doctor.
He entered and walked to the shelf with a checklist.
James sighed as he looked at the time,
She bit her lip to hold back a curse as she realized where she was and hid as the doctor entered. Keeping an eye on the doctor as he looked about for his checklist, Liz glanced at the door to gauge who was closer and the safest route to get out.
The doctor was closer to the door but soon moved further, there was only one way to get out and it was riskier. If she failed, she would have to stay at the medbay and security would tighten.
She was almost tempted to try to use magic to make sure the doctor would keep looking away from the door… But she decided against it. She didn't know how much more she could use before she passed out. Moving carefully and quietly, Liz headed over to the door.
The doctor did not hear a thing and continued reviewing the items,
Liz relaxed a little as she made it out the door undetected but she didn't stop walking once she was out. She still had a ”mission” to finish.
Nothing was around her, most people were busy healing the injured and mourning the dead.
She was thankful for the lack of people as she continued on but she was definitely upset by how many they lost today. She wouldn't be surprised if, once everyone was back on their feet, they had a service to honor them.
Finally making it to the quarters, Liz kept quiet as she looked for James’ room.
James meanwhile was having a sip of his water, silently thinking about what had occurred the past month.

Liz let out a breath of relief as she found James’ room and walked inside. The book was on his bed right where he left it before she suggested watching the fight. She shook her head at her impulsive suggestion as she grabbed the book carefully.
A picture dropped out, showing a younger James and a woman standing next to each other.
The woman had brown hair and chocolaty eyes, a bright smile with pearly white teeth. James had one arm around her too, both smiling.
Liz delicately picked up the picture and admired it for a moment. A snapshot of his past. Could that be his sister with him? she wondered as she carefully slid the picture back into the book and headed back to the med bay.
"Ah Liz, you're back!" He smiled and said.
She smiled proudly as she walked over to him. ”With the objective.” she joked a little, handing the book to him. ”It was pretty easy, only had one close call.”
"Most are busy…" He sighed, holding the book tightly as he got up.
"So where should we start?" He asked with a smile.
”Yeah.” she nodded respectfully and sat next to him. ”Umm… I don't know. Surprise me.”
"Well, I'll start with the day I met you," He smiled, opening the book to a certain page, reading aloud.
"Today… Was pretty hectic, we crashed, but I don't really care… After all, there was never anything left for me in this life… Or so I thought. I met a person, her name was Elizabeth, she was quite a complicated woman, beautiful too. Though very flirty of course, and annoying. But perhaps this is the start of something new? I mean, ever since I met her, I've felt something different, especially towards her." He read, smiling as he remembered that day.
"Well anyways, I suppose I should sign off, I've got a busy day ahead of me." He finished
She pursed her lips slightly at the mention of his careless attitude towards whether he lived or not, but blushed softly as he described her. Flirty and annoying, she totally expected… But beautiful? And he had liked her even back then…
James looked at her with an embarrassed look.
"I forgot about that…" He laughed awkwardly.
Liz smiled gently back with a soft chuckle. ”It’s ok. I’ve been called worse.” she joked, leaving out the fact that she hadn't been called better. ”Go on.” she encouraged.
"Well, the next one was actually only recently, it was when uh you saw me with the book." He cleared his throat and began to read.
"So much has happened, I gained some magic, me and Li- Elizabeth had some strange shared dream and… I think I have fallen for her. I can't help but gaze into her sweet eyes, look at her beautiful face and just, daze out. But I have to hide it, I can't let my feelings interrupt how the next expedition will happen, even if I have to lead it…" James became silent after that before sighing and continuing.
"I don't know how this relationship blooms but I can't change fate… I am dying, either way, at least it feels like it, it hurts… I don't know what else to say, I suppose I could go on and on about the dream but I just will end up changing the topic to Liz.." He became quiet.
Her blush darkened as he read his admittance about how he felt towards her. ”Flatterer.” she teased softly, knowing she felt the same way. Though it didn't quite happen as fast for her. Of course, she noticed his tall stature and that he was very attractive but now his dark eyes just seemed to draw her in. Maybe she did start liking him during that dream. There had been nothing but them and she had told him something that she hadn't told anyone before.
"Wait till you see the drawings," He chuckled.
She perked up at the mention of his drawings and leaned a little closer to him to have a better view. ”Yes, please.” she smiled.
