(Okay!)
Alex had heard the commotion, and cautiously followed after Danny and the other. He didn't know how he was going to help, but he was goign to try.
“You fucking mutt! Go ahead, hit me! We’ll see who the fucking cops believe.” The other man sneered gloatingly, knowing that he won either way: either Danny chickened out, or a fight broke out, and lord knows that the authorities would believe him over that werewolf.
Alex frowned at the words, shaking his head slightly. He knew that the cops wouldn't believe Danny; few and far between were the cops that gave werewolves fair treatment. He didn't quite know what to do, though.
And then there was a crack. Danny had thrown the first punch, connecting straight with the other man’s jaw. Only enough to stun him for a split second before Danny was knocked to the dirty concrete underfoot, locked in a feral grappling match.
Alex inhaled. "Danny!" he exclaimed, taking a cautious step forward. He didn't try to reach out, though, knowing that he was too small to interfere in this fight. "Danny, stop it!"
A couple other men- big enough to rip the two apart from each other- came around the bend at the sound of the commotion. And it was quite the thing to hear. Wolfish, feral snarls and growls, barking sounds of pain, more insults hurled from both parties- it was brutal. As the two were torn apart, it was clear who was the winner- and it wasn’t Danny. The aggressor wasn’t particularly unscathed either, but Danny looked like he got the brunt of the pain. Small splotches of blood mixed with grime on his face and hands, though it wasn’t clear whose it was.
Alex inhaled softly, and went over to Danny. "Are you okay?" he asked softly, frowning. He reached up, gently pulling Danny into a sitting position. "Sit, I've gotta clean you off." he went back inside and grabbed a napkin, coming back out.
The other two men were chewing the other man out- clearly they could sniff out who started the damn thing in the first place.
Danny was sunken against the brick wall, up against decades worth of graffiti and dirt. He looked more than a little dazed, blood dripping down his nose and from his busted lips.
Alex crouched down beside him, gently reaching up to try and wipe off the blood. "Damn it. What the fuck happened, bud?" he asked softly, eyebrows drawing together as he tried to clean off the blood and grime.
Danny pushed Alex’s hand away wordlessly, turning his head to spit dirty blood onto the ground before turning back. He wiped his mouth with a shrug. “He was being an asshole. I called his bluff.” He mumbled, running his tongue over his teeth.
Alex sighed softly. "Could you have called it a little bit less…physically?" he asked quietly, sitting back to give Danny a bit more space.
“Nah.” Danny grunted, half in pain, half just not wanting to speak loudly. “There’s nothin’ I coulda said that wouldn’t’a made me look like a fuckin’ pussy, dude. How am I s’posed to argue with shit like that, y’know? ‘Cause he was fuckin’ right half the time.”
Alex shook his head, and kept trying to stem the bleeding. "Danny…" he trailed off, not sure what to say.
(Gtg soon, sorry)
(no problem, gn!)
Danny tipped his head back to at least keep his nose from gushing everywhere. “What? He’s fuckin’ right!” He huffed, gritting his teeth. “Don’t ‘Danny’ me, you know he is.”
Alex kept working gently. "I don't know hardly any of what he said, for one thing, but i highly doubt he was right." he replied firmly.
Danny took a moment to spit more blood. He pressed the side of his hand up against his nose to try and stem the flow. “Fine. He was wrong a few times, butcha think I’m gonna whip out the fuckin’ encyclopedia to prove him wrong? No! I’m just gonna deck ‘im and hope I win… which I clearly didn’t, fuck.”
Alex sighed. "Danny…" he trailed off again, trying to figure out how to phrase what he meant. Because yeah, he'd never faced what Danny had just for being a different race, but…he had faced a lot of insults and cruelty for other things. His sexuality, his height, his interests. Mostly his sexuality. "I don't know."
“Seems we’re at an impasse, then.” The werewolf grunted, digging dried blood out from underneath his nails and flicking it away. The other man- not having left yet, for some reason (although it’s likely that he was just tied up in conversation with the men that had broken them apart)- sneered and spat a few more pointed insults at Danny, who responded by standing up and barking some back.
Alex gritted his jaw slightly, and stood up. "Don't start this shit up again." he said, glaring at the other man and keeping himself between Danny and the other man.
“Down, boy. Don’t wanna be a bad dog, do ya? Not when yer owner’s right there.” The other man’s words were slurred from drunkenness, though they were soaked with venom, not vodka. He could barely stand straight, but clearly Danny didn’t care.
“Shut the fuck up! Don’t fuckin’ start this shit, asshole.” Danny snapped back, feeling his hands curl back into fists.
Alex shook his head. "I'm just his friend." he said slowly, trying not to get too upset on Danny's behalf. He looked at the man, lifting his chin slightly. "Get out of here. There's no reason to start a goddamn fight."
“Fine. But don’t be surprised when I call fuckin’ animal control on yer sorry ass.” The other man hissed, tottering out of the alleyway like a toddler who had one too many.
Danny let out a soft, sharp snarl of pure exasperation, sinking back down against the wall. “Fuck..”
"Says the guy that can't walk straight." Alex retorted, shaking his head as he turned back to Danny. "You alright?"
He rubbed his face with both hands, sucking in a sharp breath. “Fuckin’.. yeah. Just pissed.”
He nodded slightly. "Right. Let's not hang around here, alright? Might not be the best idea."
Danny stood up, grittjng his teeth in pain. His head was thumping, and the dried blood crusting on his face felt like it was tightening his skin. “Yeah. Okay. Dunno where to go, though.”
He let out a breath. "Right. We can…" He thought for a moment. "My apartment isn't too far from here. We could go there, get you cleaned up?" He shrugged his shoulders. "Or…I don't know."
“That’s fine with me, yeah.” Danny nodded, scratching at his cheek. “My nose stopped bleeding.. I think. I can’t tell.”
Alex nodded. "Alright. Come on. I don't think I have any clothes that would fit you though, so you're stuck in those. Sorry."
