(Sorry! I got sick basic mentally shut down.)
"Based off the people they were bringing me you could of been put in here for being out on the street at the wrong time. They were all quite weak already and I barely had a hand in their deaths. You, on the other hand, are a lot stronger. You might actually be the one." It seemed to giggled. It had actually started to force itself into Sams eye.
(If the part where Nyt is fusing with Sam is too weird I can skip over it.)
(You're fine! I'm intrigued to see how the fusion would happen.)
Stronger? The one? Sam shrieked. "Get it off! Get it off NOW! It's-" Sam was scared. "Why me? Why!?" She was hysterical.
"You," Sam pointed to Ava. "You are evil. Wicked. Preposterous. Someone's gonna find out–someone always does."
Ava was on the other side of the glass with Markus, wanting to get out of the room as most of the subjects would get hysterical when they fused. She payed no attention as Sam screamed at her.
Markus, on the other hand, only stared at her in horror. "Sam." He mummbled as he watched her scream at Ava.
The creature had now crawled into Sam's eyes, her actually eye not hindering it's posses in the slightest.
"Markus? Markus, I'm so sorry, so so so so sorry…" Sam put her hand up against the glass but kept her head down. She didn't want Markus to see how scared she was. "I'm scared, Markus. If I don't survive, just know that you're a good person, okay?"
Get out…please…I don't want to die.
"He will be fine. He was stronger than the rest too. But still, weak." It said, now seeming to take a more feminine voice now that it was literally inside Sams head.
A tear slipped down Markus's face as he put his hand on the other side of the glass.
Then what am I? Where do I fall on the spectrum?
Sam's body shook with sobs. "Markus, I'm sorry…I didn't know what had happened…If I knew…"
"Come on, Markus. I promised Sam that I would get you out of here." Ava said, putting a hand on his shoulder. "That's not just her anymore."
It made a few noises as it seemed to get a feel for things. It made her arms move in a stretching motion and flexed her hands. "This is not too bad!" It said as seemed to test out it's new host.
Sam felt disgusted that she no longer had full control over herself. Get out of my body, you filthy, inky, disgusting Shade! I don't belong to you! I belong to me, and I say GET OUT! Though Sam was angry, it was only trying to hide her sadness. Even if she lived, she would have to live in this lab forever. Even if she got out, the world might find out and people may never see her the same again.
"I have a name you know." It huffed as it continued to test out its new vessel. "And I would rather not leave, this is actually quite comfortable. Better than my other hosts."
Markus stared at Sam for a bit longer before looking back at Ava. "Alright." He said, slowly, as if it pained him to say that.
Look at him! He probably hates me now… God, if I weren't such an idiot, if I'd have just told him it sounded suspicious, I wouldn't be in this mess. Sam turned away from the two watching her out of shame. Host or not, I'm not required to like you, Shade.
"I never said you had too but it would make this experience a lot better if we did!" It said in almost a sing song voice. "And stop calling me Shade! Do you want me to call you human?"
Ava slowly lead Markus out. "I want to ask you a few questions before I release you. It won't be long, I promise." She reassured.
"I'd rather it so. Don't think that I like you using my voice. It feels…wrong." Sam sighed, shaking her head. She sat down and tucked her knees into her chest.
What am I going to do now? If I won't die, what'll happen? I can only imagine tests and experiments… The thought made Sam shudder.
"Sam sound so much better though!" Fine. I won't talk for you. It huffed. And we aren't sticking around long enough to get experimented on. That is the last thing I want happening right now.
Then what are "we" going to do? "'Cuz there's not much I can do for you," Sam mumbled. "Ava would never let either of us out of here."
After a few beats of silence, Sam felt a tinge of guilt. I guess it would be better to call you by your name than by "Shade," Sam hated being wrong, let alone admitting it, but only because you suggested it.
Do you think we're going to ask to leave? No. We're going to escape. I mean, unless you want to be stuck inside this rat cage, then be my guest.
Of course, if Sam didn't accept the same thing would happen to her as all the other hosts. She would be drained until an empty husk.
We can get out of here before anyone comes back.
(You're okay!)
Thoughts tumbled inside of Sam like a pinball machine, all asking the same question, one way or another.
"How?" Sam said aloud. "As I said, I can't do much for you besides provide a host."
"I don't need much from you other than to be a host." It said as it move her over to the door. Black flame like material crawled off of Sam's hand and slipped between the crack of the door.
Sam, almost disgusted, swallowed. "That's optimistic of you–to know that I'm only a husk of flesh to perform your duties." Sam shook her head. "Where are we going to go?" A few places popped up in Sam's head. There was her home, the library, a wildlife park she'd only been to once, a couple of restaurants, and a few other places.
