Cat took their hand and smiled. She walked to the self checkout register. And placed the paper and colored pencils down.

Lot put the poster down and frowned a little, "You didn't buy markers? I know you have some but that's one of the reasons we came here?"

“It’s fine I have enough they’d just go to waste,” she reassured. She scanned the items and put them in bags.

Lot gave a nod and watched Cat, "Okay. Do you have enough markers otherwise? I can go pick up some before we leave."

“No it’s fine I have enough,” she said scanning the board. She went to pay.

Lot nodded again and pulled out their wallet, "Got it, I can pay for the supplies if you need."

“We can go half,” she said. She took out half the total.

"Okay," Lot took out the other half and put it to pay for the supplies.

Cat smiled and grabbed the receipt and the bag once the transaction was done. “Mind holding the poster? I think the libraries just down the street.”

"I can do that," Lot nodded taking the bag, "Want me to meet you there?"

“Thought we were walking together?” She asked looking over at them.

"Oh, yeah we were. You just made it sound like you wanted me to go early," Lot responded looking at Cat.

“No just double checking about the library. Plus the posters pretty big and awkward to carry. Wasn’t sure if you were still in pain,” she said starting to walk out of the store.

"I mean, a little bit," Lot admitted with a shrug as they followed Cat to the door, "But it's nothing I can't handle."

“You sure? I can hold the poster if you want,” she suggested trying to walk beside them.

"No, I got it," Lotus insisted as they walked out the door. They had a smile on, "It's not that bad."

Cat nodded and walked beside them. She watched them carefully. The library was coming up.

Lot continued to walk until they arrived at the library. They opened the door up for Cat.

Cat smiled. “Thanks,” she said as they walked inside. She put the bag down at the same table they used before. The pack of markers fell out of her pocket.

Lot spotted the markers and then looked to Cat, "Did, did you steal those?"

Cat bit her lip. A lie was on the tip of her tongue but she couldn’t bring herself to say it. She picked the package up before looking at lot. She nodded. “Yeah I did,” she said trying not to sound ashamed.

Lotus frowned and let out a sigh as they sat at the table. They, they didn't know what to do, "I, okay. Um, return it maybe?"

Cat shrugged. “Why? Not like anyone’s going to miss them and we need them for the project. It would just waste time,” she tried to convince.

"Well, Well," Lot responded starting to scratch at their arm. They were starting to freak out a little.

Cat bit her lip a little harder. “If it makes you feel better I’ll go return them,” she said. “Sorry didn’t mean to make you feel uncomfortable.”

Lotus looked up at Cat and gave them a little nod, "Um, I, I would appreciate that. I, I can give you money and, and then you can just buy them instead. If, If you don't end up, end up… Um yeah. Money."

“It’s- I’ll be fine. I can pay for it. Why don’t you wait here and I’ll go back and buy it,” she said trying to smile.

Lot nodded and rubbed at their arms stopping their fumble for their wallet, "O-Okay. Thank you."

Cat nodded. “Yeah no problem sorry again. I’ll be right back, she said before leaving the library.

Lot let out a sigh and laid their head on the table. They felt bad, but they shouldn't. Yet they did. Augh, Cat made their life so confusing.
