Danny shook his head, whistling. “Damn. Sucks for them, but I guess they made hella fuckin’ coin and just.. dipped. Good for them.”

He nodded. "Yeah. So…I don't know. Meanwhile there are other bands that make money with like…every song. Like…fucking Imagine Dragons or something."

“Dude, shut up- I went through the strongest fucking Imagine Dragons phase in like— 8th grade. Swear to fuckin’ god, man. On my mother, I can sing along to every single one of their songs before their newest album. Dolphins? Memorized, and that song was never fucken’ released! Selene? You bet your fuckin’ ass I got that down pat.”

He laughed softly. "I know, I know. I still enjoy that band, m'kay? Not ragging on them or anything." He smiled.

Danny nodded. “Good, was afraid I’d have to fuckin’ school you on my weird Imagine Dragons knowledge. Liked ‘em this long, and I still can’t name a single member, though..” He nibbled on his nail. “If I remember right, there are three dudes named Dan.”

He laughed. "Dan Reynolds is the lead, I believe. I don't remember the others, sadly." He shrugged his shoulders, running his hands through his hair.

“I was gonna make fun of them for being named like- Daniel, or some shit like that, but then I realized. That’s my name.”

He snorted, amused at that. "Yeah." He replied with a grin, laughing softly.

“..Which I think makes me even more qualified to do it. Imagine bein’ three grown-ass men in a band together and thinkin’ ‘yeah, none of us need stage names to hide the fact that we all have the same name and-‘ I’m sorry, but I know for a damn fact that they all look the same.”

He snorted, chuckling. "I mean…maybe that's part of their shtick" he replied with a shrug. "That they're all named Dan and they all look alike."

“Sick-ass band idea.” Danny nodded. “Kinda wish I thought that one up before joinin’ this one.” He joked, grinning.

He laughed again. "Well duh. Who doesn't want a band like that?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.

“Right? Fucken’ nerds, that’s who.” Danny grinned, his jagged teeth glinting in the artificial light. “I don’t know anybody who wouldn’t.”

Alex took a sip of tea, laughing softly. "Mhm. Definitely."

Danny took another sip or two of his water, crossing his legs. “That’s gotta be some band’s schtick somewhere, right?”

Alex grinned. "I'm sure it is. Somewhere." He waved a hand, as if expecting said band to just pop out of nowhere.

“With somethin’ weird like that, I gotta assume they’re from like.. Portland, I dunno. Could probably Google it.” Danny shrugged, popping the bones in his neck.

(haha we just moved from a rental to one we actually own now, that's all. Same city. We did our big move across the country like…five months ago? Yeah. Moved from Alaska to Nebraska lmao)

He snickered. "Ha, probably. Though I have no wish to Google it right now." He shook his head slightly, smiling.

(sick, sick! i’m prepping myself to move again next year, lmao)

“Yeah.. me neither.” Danny agreed with a small snicker. “Or like.. ever.”

(oof man. Moving sucks)

Alex chuckled. "Might get some weirdass results, too." He shrugged his shoulders, shaking his head.

(yeah, but you get used to it!)

“Might? I feel like I’d have to fuckin’ turn the damn SafeSearch on if I looked it up.” Danny laughed a short, cackling laugh, leaning back.

He laughed again, shaking his head. "Yikes, man. It'd be pretty damn bad, I'm guessing."

“Yeah. Uh- hm. What time is it..” Danny checked his phone. “Oh, shit, haha- I gotta go- hey, um- I’ll catch you later, yeah?”

Alex smiled. "Yeah, alright. You can text me if you want." he replied. "Thanks for…thanks for coming."

“‘Course, man! We’re friends, right? Friends fuckin’ help each other out.” Danny grinned, standing up and tucking his phone into his pocket. “I’ll see ya around?”

Alex nodded. "Right. And see you. Have fun with Frasier." he waved a little bit, finishing his tea and getting up.

“Yeah, man! Bye!” Danny waved back, ducking outside and into the streets.

(it’s a small idea, but i was thinking that for their next ~encounter~, danny could’ve gotten into a fight and alex has to try and either break it up or calm danny down? (or both, idk), but lmk what you think!)

Alex smiled, and closed the door, locking it once Danny was out. He let out a breath, flopping down onto the couch.

The loud music from the bar could be heard from two blocks away, and the same could almost be said for the lights. And Danny was pissed. Somebody had made some derogatory, offhand comment to him (another dog joke, to be sure), and he wasn’t having it. The two were now toe-to-toe outside, snarling and spitting choice words out like a random insult generator. Tonight clearly wasn’t his night.
