(I'm back for a bit.)

Kenzie's full attention was on the cats surrounding her, so she didn't notice Hunter looking at her. She smiled as she pet the cat on her lap, chattering and making noises to it. The cat purred and meowed at her, and she meowed back like the dork she is.

Hunter bit his lower lip as he continued to watch Kenzie. He had decided to tell her more about his life with his father, but considering the fact that her mother had just died, he knew better than to talk about himself. All he had to do was make sure he didn’t talk about his father. At all.
“You know, Leo took me to this exact place ten years ago,” Hunter spoke up. “He thought I hated cats and that it was the perfect revenge. Turned out it wasn’t.”

Kenzie looked up from the cat in her lap and faced Hunter.

"Really?" she asked, unintentionally cocking her head to the side. "Huh. Well, I'm glad that you got to find out about it to show me." She gave him a small smile before looking around the room and pointing out a dark-ginger-furred cat. When she spoke, her voice was soft, "That one looks like Strawberry. She's actually getting pretty old, now. My mom gave her to me for my eighth birthday…"

"Where is Strawberry?" Hunter questioned. "I've never seen her before."

(Oh, I didn't know you were even still here!)

"Where is Strawberry?" Hunter questioned. "I've never seen her before."

(Sorry, I was at work!)

"She lives at my parents' house. My apartment doesn't allow pets," Kenzie explained quietly, looking back down at her lap.
