Finn bit his lip and sighed. “Fine then j-just us. I can’t stay in that house anymore either. It’s not like I'm allowed near her anyway,” he said staring out the window. “I’ll try to fight after I turn 18.” He placed a hand on his knee. “Please Jay. It’s either This or we report your dad.”
Jay flinched a little bit at the touch without meaning to, letting out a faint breath. "S-sorry…" he whispered. "I just…if I report my dad…what happens? My mom can't make enough money for us to stay in that house, or…or anywhere, so we'd be out on the streets, and…"
“He’s hurting you Jay. Your health is more important than anything else right now. Please we can figure something out after,” He said. “I can bring you to a hospital that way they can actually treat your injuries.”
"I'll be okay. it's just six months until my birthday. I'll…I'll survive."
“But then what will you do? You’ll still be in the same situation with the same problem,” he said taking his hand. “I don’t even know what we should do now.”
Jay shrugged. "Once I'm eighteen I can move out and it'll be fine." He replied softly.
“I don’t want to just drive you back there,” Finn said shaking his head. “Come on Jay. I can help out more if we report him. I have my own money saved up,” he said.
"Finn…I don't want to fuck up your life any more than I already have…" He said softly, slowly.
“You won’t Jay. Trust me please,” Finn practically begged. “I wont…can’t just sit here and let him hurt you. You already said I can’t go talk to him and honestly if I went in there right now there wouldn’t be much talking.”
"What if they don't believe me?" he asked, voice heart-breakingly quiet and scared. "What if they don't believe me and I have to go back there?"
“They will. I’ll make sure they do and you’ll never have to go back to him again,” he said facing him.
Jay sniffled softly, rubbing at his eyes and trying not to cry. "I just…I'm scared, Finn."
“Me too,” Finn admitted taking his hand. “But it’s ok because we have each other.”
Jay leaned over to rest his head on Finn's shoulder.
Finn wrapped and arm around him. A hand in his hair.
Jay closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.
Finn pulled away. “Okay where should we go?” He asked.
Jay nodded slightly, sitting up again. "Yes please." he whispered.
Finn nodded and started the car again. Driving off to the nearest hospital. It’s he same one where Finn interns.
Jay was quiet, sitting in his seat with bruises on his face and on his body.
Finn parked and then got out of the car. Opening the passenger door got Jay. He led him to the emergency entrance. They didn’t seem very busy right now.
Jay grabbed his backpack, reaching out to take Finn's hand.
Finn lead him past the doors. He walked up to the receptionist who seemed to recognize him.
Jay stuck next to Finn, shaking just a little bit.
Finn told the receptionist what she needs to know. Not mentioning how Jay got hurt yet.
Jay was holding onto Finn's hand rather tightly.
The receptionist told them to take a seat. Finn led Jay to a seat nearby. It wasn’t that busy so it shouldn’t be long for them to be called in. “You need to tell the doctor exactly what happened. Before you do they might mention calling your parents but they won’t push it after you say it. Then they’ll call the police and DCF,” he explained.
Jay nodded slightly, biting his lip a little bit and fidgeting. "I-I just…I'm scared of what comes after, Finn."
“It’s okay Jay. I promise you it’ll all be alright. Worst case scenario you stay at a group home for the night but everything should be good for you to go home to your mom tomorrow. The police or an DCF agent are going to ask a lot of questions. You just have to answer all of them honestly,” Finn said. He’s seen it a few times in the hospital. At least from afar the procedure and he’d heard what happened with Willow.
Jay nodded a little bit, and hid his face in Finn's shoulder. "Okay."
