Laedita scowled at him right before he disappeared, then blinked when she was suddenly faced with emptiness. That still didn't stop her from cursing him under her breath. She ran her fingers through her hair and paced back and forth, then leaned against the wall and slid to the floor, fingers digging into her roots. "I hate vampires. They're all the same. Torture the weaker, or the threats. Traumatize children without a care in the world."

Almost on queue, her cell phone rang. Only one person knew her number now, so she instantly picked it up without hesitation. "Mel, hey," she greeted softly, eyes closing and head tipping back to rest against the wall. Her baby brother greeted her weakly, then coughed into the phone. "What's wrong, Meleki?"

He coughed again, then whispered hoarsely, "I…I'm sick… Dee…can you come home? I-I know you like school…"

She instantly shook her head, despite him not being able to see her. "I'm on my way, Mel. I'll be there before you know it." She heard a scratchy sigh from her brother, and she bid him farewell before hanging up her phone and standing up. "Gotta get my stuff, then leave." Perfect opportunity to get away from the war this vamp declared with me.

His feet landing feather light as the top of the stairs, his ears picked up what she said from the bottom of the stairs. He shoved his hand in his pocket and decided to maybe ignore. It. He wasn't one to actually interfere. He could just annoy her at school. He didn't currently have a plan, but he was going to.
Maybe he would have fun. Let his mysterious side show for once.

(or do you want him to interfere with helping his brother?)

@ElderGod-kirky group

(Hm, maybe not interfere, because she'd most definitely go mama bear mode and that's not going to end well for either of them, but maybe follow her with the intention to? I've got a pretty solid backstory involving vampires and these two siblings, and that's gonna be introduced with this)

She flipped through her notebook for any spells that would help put him at ease until she figured out what ailment her brother had, humming to herself as she trotted back upstairs. "No, no, no, not that one. Ah, there we go. Muidemer nemalos. Simple enough. Just gotta get him to sit still for it though… Ack, toddlers. Never know what's good for them." She snapped her book shut, tucked it under her arm, drew her hood over her head, and slid her sleeves over her hands, her ultimate form of comfort. Out of habit, only her toes hit the steps as she quickly made her way up, something she developed from the creaky old stairs of her childhood home.

Meleki wasn't a spellcaster, but he supported his sister's magic with as much enthusiasm as any toddler gave anything. He adored the little creatures she could summon, especially the blind cat he named Tulip, always bugging her to make spells that were ultimately useless, such as cosmetics or mundane chore-doing that could be easily accomplished without the use of magic, and allowing her to take care of him using the gift at her fingertips. He was perhaps the only person not repulsed by her, and for that, she was eternally grateful.

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

(oh okay!)
(by the way, I love her so far! She's super cool!)

He stood at the door of the next classroom before he heard the girls voice mumbling to himself. He smiled and decided to skip. He was good at persuading people and the art of manipulation. So it was no problem for him.
He soon found himself following the girl to wherever she was going, ready to cause trouble.
There wasn't usually much to do for fun being him. He's tried almost all of it. Now it's just to survive and find ways to have fun. It was rare, but he hoped this would work in his favor.

@ElderGod-kirky group

(Thank you!)

She strode through the halls, eyes scanning the floor in search of her stuff. She hoped no-one stole any of it, but that was why she brought her notebook as a precaution. Her teeth worried at her bottom lip but then released the skin when she found what she was looking for. "Look at that untouched." Laedita jogged over to the discarded items, gathered them up into her arms, then slid over a few feet to her locker.

She was still thinking about the vampire that had not only found her out but promised to make her life a living hell. Jokes on him, that's already happened, and nothing short of one horrific scenario would outdo what's already been done. A soft sigh left her lips, and she imagined her concerns leaving her with the breath. Worry about that later, first comes Meleki.

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

He followed her scent more than anything. As he walked through the hall, turning a corner in a flash in case she turned around. He was excited for what he was going to do. But first he needed to figure out what he was going to do. He could simply draw the attention of a wolf from the forest nearby. By this town, that was their favorite place to be. Though during the night they wander the town aimlessly.
He assumed they were too deep in the forest to smell him, so it would be a challenge to actually drag in a wolf from there. He was going to have to think of something else….

He watched and studied her actions, facial expressions, her words at she talked to herself. He found himself doing that a lot recently. Studying people whenever he sees them. He never thought much of it.
Once they were outside, he kept a good distance from her in case she got suspicious.
His feet on the ground as light as a feather.

@ElderGod-kirky group

(that's fine! Fair warning, this might be long…)

Either Laedita didn't know she was being followed, or she was expertly ignoring him as she slipped out of the school and walked home. The journey wasn't long, as she lived near the school, so she was skipping up the stairs to her cheap apartment in no time. The key was between her fingers from seemingly nowhere, the door was unlocked, and then she was slipping through and shutting it behind her without relocking it.

Just like any other time she came home, she was greeted by the earthy scent of an abundance of plants, old but well-taken-care-of bones, and the faint whiff of incense. Plants were hanging from the ceiling, sitting on counters, and spilling over the floor, all very much alive and properly groomed. The rickety raven swooped over her head and greeted her with a caw, then turned back around and led her to where her brother was in the living room.

On the wrap around couch that was pushed against a wall was a little black-haired and green-eyed boy of about eight or nine looked up at Laedita as she entered. She smiled when she saw her brother, though it was small and sad when she noticed the state he was in. The little boy was curled up into a blanket, hugging the blind flower-eyed cat tight to his chest as it rose and fell with labored breathing. Meleki cracked open an eye and smiled weakly. "Dee…"

The elder sibling strode across the room to come over to him. "Hey bud," she greeted softly, crouching down in front of him and brushing her fingers through his hair to get it out of his face. He didn't move, so she took the opportunity to sketch the relief spell over his forehead and whispered the words to it in that disembodied voice. His fever went down almost instantly, and he sighed happily when he started to breathe easier. "Thanks, Dee." Meleki then beamed brilliantly and pointed over at a bag that hadn't been there before. "Kayleb came over. Said that you have to wear what's in there." Laedita sighed and hesitantly looked over at the bag. "He also said it all should fit, so no whining." He giggled when she gave him a flat look.

"I'm going to whine, bub. Anything Kayleb says I should wear is too revealing."

Meleki tipped his head to the side and sat up, hair tousled. "I looked at some. The shirts looked too small, but Kayleb said it's supposed to be like that. They aren't too revealing." His sister arched a brow at him, and he smiled adorably. "There is fabric, so it can't be that bad."

Laedita sighed and rolled her eyes, then ruffled his hair. "You're too smart for your own good."

He grinned. "Says my teacher, so that would make you too smart."

"And the student surpasses the teacher." She chuckled and leaned forward some to wrap her brother into a firm but loving embrace, then went back to crouching normally. "How long did Kayleb say he's in town?"

The little boy hummed and dramatically rubbed his chin. "He said… Oh! He said he'd be here indebiblably."

"Indefinitely?" she corrected with an amused quirk to her lips.

"That's what I said, inbubbubly." He nodded firmly, and she had to bite her lip to keep from laughing.

"Alright, alright. While I'm here, how about you get a bath while I figure out what's up with ya, hm?" Meleki pouted and crossed his arms over his chest. She sighed. "Alright, let's make a deal. You get a bath, and I'll try on the clothes Kayleb brought over." He grinned and nodded vigorously, hopped off the couch, hugged her neck one last time, then scurried through the house to the bathroom. Laedita watched him go with a genuine and warm smile, then stood and unbuttoned her coat, glaring at the bag. "Oh, I'm so going to kill Kayden when I see him again." With that muttered statement, she shrugged off the coat. The tank top revealed tons of crisscrossing scars all over her arms, and some poking up from the collar of her shirt on her back.

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

He silently followed her and listened. He didn't really need to or want to watch.
He stood by the door, listening if she was about to come out or not. He could easily shift into a mist and disappear quickly if she did. He would have to be caught off guard to be caught at all.
Her brother, even though he didn't see him at all, he guessed he was pretty adorable. He had a little sister that he loved with all of his heart. When she died it was horrible for him, and just thinking about it now makes him sad. But he couldn't do anything about it now.

@ElderGod-kirky group

She curled her nose when she picked up the first thing she grabbed from the bag, but sighed and reluctantly started to get changed when she heard the water of the bath running. Meleki was carrying out his side of the deal, so she might as well carry out hers. She pulled on the dress, cringing the entire time, and the floral-patterned, fishnet leggings. She remained barefoot, ignoring the pairs of heels tossed into the bag by her infuriating cousin.

The raven started to caw, and this time it was frantic and in warning. She had embedded the familiar with a vampire-detecting spell, so she instantly knew what it was as she turned in alarm. Damn him. "I know you're there," she ground out, turning towards where the raven was looking. The bird perched onto her shoulder, no longer cawing. "Come out, little vampire, or run away like the coward you are. It wouldn't be the first time you ran from me in fear."

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

"damn bird" he mumbled before leaning against the wall, not daring to look at the door. He figured by what was said and the rustling noises of clothes, that she was changing. No way would he be a pervert.
"Ha, Im not afraid of you and I never will be. Your looks just freaked me out a bit and I wanted nothing to do with a freak like you. Sorry, but at school I want to be liked. If I'm seen with someone like you. We'll, who knows what will happen" he says confidently.
"anyway, if you would like me to, I could come out. Though, I'm not going in there to talk if that's what you would like to do. It's absolutely filthy in there. I can smell it. Or maybe that's just you. Whatever it is, it smells like a rotting corpse." he plugged his nose

@ElderGod-kirky group

"Oh, piss off, vampire," she hissed, crossing her arms over her chest. She was now fully clothed, so he didn't have to worry about that. "For your information, no one sees what you see. I look normal enough to mortals, so that's just your pathetic pride getting in the way of you admitting you ran away from a little girl like me." She looked around the room, rolling his eyes at his comment on the smell. "And it's not that bad, you're just being an ass." You know what, I'm not even going to bother arguing with him.

With a huff, she padded over to the door she heard his voice near, opened it, and strode away almost immediately. Her raven remained on her shoulder, balancing itself. The room itself was surprisingly neat, save for the small pile of clothes she kicked off to the side. Most of the space was simply occupied by plants. Her room held most of the bones, which were sealed in spelled trunks.

She tugged down the skirt of the dress, not liking how exposed she felt, then hissed when the action sent a bolt of pain through her fingers. "Damn things," she muttered, flexing them as best as she could to ease the lingering pain.

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

“Yeah? Is that why you have no friends and litterally no one likes you there? Yeah..okay witch. Plus, your blood smells like oil to me. Maybe that’s what stinks about you so badly” he rolled his eyes, hearing her footsteps grow closer, “I’m always an ass. There’s no stopping me” he smirked.

He peeked in before he followed her, almost jealous of all of her plants. He had a soft spot for them. He wished he had a garden of his own. Which he would soon when he went out and found it and all of the money he hid.

“Man, poor bird. He looks like he hates everything” he halfway joked,
“Anyway, crooked fingers, why’d you skip school huh?” He asked again once he felt into step with her. The Raven freaked him out a little, but just because it was still alive. He’s seen much worse.

@ElderGod-kirky group

She scowled at him over her shoulder, then grabbed a cloak to cover herself. She hated that the clothes fit snuggly, a perfect fit, because that meant Kayden would force her to keep it. Yes, she'd admit that her current wardrobe was…lacking…but that didn't mean he could breeze in, dump a bunch of clothes onto her, and expect her to be happy with the different style.

"Remind me again why I let you in," she muttered, then shooed away the raven on her shoulder. It squawked at him angrily, then flew away to a different room of the apartment. Tulip, the blind cat, was in the bathroom with her brother, so she didn't have to worry about the vampire bothering it. To busy herself in order to keep from strangling the intruder in her house, she walked around the room to tend to all of her plants. The tattoos on her hands glowed slightly, her necrobotany at work without needing to use her still-sore hands.

"I don't see why that's any of your business. You follow me without due cause, insult me and my home, insult my familiar, and then demand the reasoning behind my departure of a place." She avoided looking at him while she strengthened leaves with just a gentle caress and added nutrients to the soil. "You don't even deserve my attention."

(Okay so since ours are quite long and I would like to reply with a decent post but I currently can't because I can't type it all out on this small phone. I need to wait for a bit until I get my computer back working again, which hopefully won't be long. But for now, I'm unable to reply. Sorry)

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

He crossed his arms with a deep cold sigh, leaning on the wall.
“I dont deserve a lot of things. But hey, i have them” he shrugged “And i also have your attention” he winked, a cute smirk curved on his mischievous lips.
“Anyway-“ he dodged the bird, looking as if he were playing limbo for a few seconds as it squawked at him.
“If you dont want to tell me, you dont have to. I cant control you. Well actually i can, but i wont. Don’t want you to fall in love with me too quickly now would we?” He smiled.
He pushed himself off of the wall and looked around “was that your little brother back there? He seemed sweet” he says calmly, not in his flirtatious way anymore.

(Sorry its so short.)

@ElderGod-kirky group

"Go near him and I won't hesitate to slit your throat," she said calmly, brushing off her hands and going over to the bag of clothes to zip it up and drop it onto the couch. Her brother didn't need to be traumatized even more by this vampire, and it was her job as an older sister to protect him.

His flirting felt off to her. He's gone from afraid to pissed off to indifferent to flirting with her, and it was offputting. She weighed the pros and cons of telling him her reasoning behind leaving school early, then settled with telling him the bare minimum. "Mel is sick, so I'm taking off school to take care of him until he's better," she said, turning to look at the vampire. Her hands clutched at the cloak draped over her body, unconsciously hiding by sinking into the cloth and making herself less noticeable. "So, sorry, but your vendetta against me will have to wait until I get back. If I ever do."

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

“Oh thats sweet” he says genuinely thinking it was sweet for her to do that for her little brother.
He wished he could have done that for his younger sister, but it was too late.
He pushed away the thought and distracted himself with everything that decorated her room.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to hurt you or anything. And i would never hurt him. Hes adorable. And besides, You’ve done nothing in particular to make me hate you. Other than being mean and threatening me.” He shrugged, brushing it off as if threatening to kill him was normal. With her, he guessed it was. She was quite the creep, though he didnt voice his thoughts.
“I’ve marked you as potentially dangerous to me. Thats the only reason i acted as i did. Anywho” he rolled his eyes and leaned on the wall again, his tongue running along his fang as he was tremendously bored. But this was better than school, he did admit to that.

@ElderGod-kirky group

Her eyes watched him with a strange mixture of emotions swirling in them, intently focused on the exposed fangs. She stared perhaps a little too long to be considered normal, then released a heavy sigh through her nose and rubbed at the corners of her now-closed eyes. "Okay, look. If you want to hang around here for some gods-awful reason, then at least make yourself useful and follow some rules."

Laedita didn't like entertaining a vampire in her house, especially with Meleki present as well, but she didn't have a choice. He's clearly decided that hanging around here was better than leaving her alone and going back to school. So, she tugged at the greenish roots of her hair, then faced the vampire and dropped her hands to her hips. "My main concern is that you don't show your fangs to Meleki. If you do that, then refer to my previous statement. It's my job to keep him safe, and having you here is already jeopardizing that. At least give me that bit of relief." She lightly bit down on her bottom lip, eyes scanning the room. "Some of the plants need more fertilizer. After that, you're helping me try to figure out what's wrong with him. From there I can come up with a treatment." For the first time since she's met the male standing in front of her, she spoke confidently without hostility, stating things without room for argument.

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

He quickly closed his mouth hiding his fangs and pouting a little "well little kids tend to think they're cool" he stuck out his bottom lip.
"But okay. Your rules I guess." he says looking at all of plants then turning to her "where is the fertilizer though?" he uncrossed his arms and his yellow eyes went around the room. It was more cluttered than he would like for it to be, but this wasn't his house to judge

(sorry it's short)

@ElderGod-kirky group

"Mel won't," she muttered, a muscle in her cheek ticking as memories flashed through her head. She blinked those pictures away, though her fingers were unconsciously reaching beneath the cloak and rubbing at the crisscrossing scars all the way her one arm. Speaking of, the cloth was becoming bothersome and warm in her already warm house, so she reluctantly slid it off and draped it over an open stool. "Bone meal is over there," she said, flicking her fingers dismissively towards the sagging bag next to a desk littered with both intricate and rough drawings of spells. Hoping he wouldn't need any more direction, she searched for a book on illnesses in her overflowing bookcase—only one of many bookcases in the apartment.

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

(Okay, i got it started back up! I’m so sorry for the inconvenience!)

He hesitantly Stepped over to the bag, making a face at the smell. His nose was way too sensitive for his liking. Even every day things smelled weird to him if he got to close to it.
Quickly trying to finish up whatever she needed done, putting the fertilizer in with the plants soil, careful not to knock anything over. Cassius loved flowers and gardens, but this was a little much.
Once finished the vampire stood, straightening his back after bending down to all of those plants. He turned to her as he put the bag back on the chair, glancing at all of the books. Recognizing some he started to read a few before he got distracted by the sound of her footsteps. “You have any more slave work for me to do?” He smirked, crossing his arms and leaned against the wall.
What was he still doing here anyway? He could leave any time now. Should he?
No that felt rude. Too rude. So would he just continue helping her? He didnt really have anything better to do anyway, so he might as well.

@ElderGod-kirky group

(That's alright! I'm glad you got your computer working again!)

She glanced up at him and, without thinking twice, let a mischievous sparkle glitter in her eyes and a slight quirk to her lips. "Oh, I'm just getting started," she said, then skimmed her fingers over the book spines to find the one she was looking for. "You can leave, y'know," she pointed out without sparing him a glance, shifting her weight onto one leg so she could scratch her calf with the other foot. "Believe it or not, I'm not holding you prisoner."

Laedita's head tipped to the side when she heard the thumping of her brother clumsily dressing himself, then braced herself for the inevitable. "DEEEEEEEE" came the adorably helpless whine, then the pitter-patter of Meleki's feet running through the apartment. She snorted and had to cover her mouth to keep from laughing. The poor kid was all tangled up into his shirt, one arm somehow twisted through two holes, his face covered, and the entire shirt put on backwards. "I'm stuck," he pouted, coming to a halt in front of them both.

She laughed and crouched down in front of him, carefully disentangling him from his shirt. "Dork," she chided playfully with a genuine smile, ruffling his black hair when he was finally free of the fabric trap. He grinned up at her goofily, then tipped his head like a puppy and peered up at Cassius. He smiled brightly up at him, even as he obediently lifted his arms up to let his sister put his shirt on properly. "Hi! I'm Meleki!" he greeted.

@Celeste_X0X0_ group

He stood and watched her crooked fingers run along the spine of the books as she spoke. “I know. But this place is more interesting than school. I dont have anything better to do” he shrugged as he looked over at the desk of papers again, quickly shifting his eyes. He didnt want to know what they said.
“If i wanted to leave i would have a long time ago. Even if you were holding me prisoner. You’d have no chance” he smiled at her challengingly as he uncrossed his arms and stuffed them into his pockets, pulling out a small rock and shifting it back and forth between his dark fingers, small golden freckles dotting his hands and arms.

He was rather startled when the boy yelled and ran out asking his sister for help.
Cassius smiled and watched as she smiled genuinely. He didnt think it was possible for her to actually be cute, but she was at the moment. A sight he probably would never see again due to her annoying attitude.
He distracted himself with the stone until the boy spoke and his yellow eyes peered to the boy and he smiled. “Oh hello Meleki! I’m Cass” he says bending down to the little boy with a friendly demeanor.
