"I'll be right back" she said she walked off towards the entrance of the room they had entered and she quietly open the door sticking her head in

”Are you serious?” Lysander asked in shock, keeping his voice down.

”Yeah.” Henry sighed. ”I guess I’m lucky enough that she’s letting me stay as close to her as I am.”

She listened carefully and quietly

“I mean, I sort of suspected something like that had happened considering her reaction when he snuck into the hospital when Laura-Beth was born but…” Lysander muttered.

”Hey. Neither of us knew what their relationship was like before today.” Henry reminded him. ”I can't marry her but I’m happy that I get to be part of her and Asher’s lives.”

" hey" she said

”Hey, Bets.” Henry sighed, not completely surprised by her presence. ”How much did you hear?” he asked.

"first thing I heard was are you serious?" She said

Henry nodded in relief. He had been hoping she didn't hear him tell Lysander the painful part.

”Betty?” Lysander looked at her. He wasn't surprised by what Henry told him but it still hurt him to know for certain that his wife had been through such trauma.

"Hm?" She asked looking up at him

“I… I am so sorry.” he managed to say softly. He didn't really know what else to say at the moment, but he felt like he needed to say something.

She smiled sadly leaning against the door "it's not your fault" she said

”I know.” Lysander nodded. ”But that doesn't make me feel any better about it.”

Henry placed a hand on his brother's shoulder, hoping to calm him.

" I was an easy target" she said with a shrug

”That’s not an excuse.” Lysander shook his head. Honestly, to a lot of vampires, humans, in general, were easy targets but there had been laws in place for ages to keep the literally bloodthirsty species from just draining everyone. And a few to protect humans from that kind of treatment.

He sighed at her dismissive attitude but dropped the topic for now.

She walked over to him and layed her head on his shoulder

He gently wrapped his arms around her.

" I love you " she said

”I love you too, my angel.” he replied, kissing her forehead.

The night had passed by rather quickly and was minutes away from midnight and everyone was back in the living room in Betty was on the couch curled into her husband side

Lysander smiled as he held Betty against him, waiting for the final seconds.

Henry was near Tyler, hoping to kiss her at least since his original plan was a bust. Though he still had the ring in his coat pocket.

Betty and Tyler both looked at each other smiles both on their faces

”Tyler?” Henry asked softly as the clock counted down.

" yes?" She asked

Nine seconds

”I…” he paused to clear his throat a little. ”I love you.” he told her softly, gently.

Tyler swallowed " yeah" she said

”I just… wanted you to know that.” he said, a little embarrassed.

Tyler nodded

Lysander hugged Betty gently against his side. ”I love you, my angel.” he smiled at her.
