Agape stood up then, as confidence swarmed his sorrowful insides. He raised his arms, big and wide, and faced the town. Emotions swirled around in his mind. "I haven't seen something this beautiful since I was a boy!" He cried, as a few tears rolled down his cheeks. He was too ignorant to swipe them away. "I didn't know that the city could be this glorious, all the people must be living so hard, and it's something I really can't believe I haven't fixed." He rambled, gazing upon his citizens.

People looked at him. Practically everyone heard his words, then. Eyes met the jeweled being, the king of the realm. "I must have been awful to you guys, every single one of you." He said, softly. He didn't want to take all of the blame, and worded his phrases carefully. "I'd like to hear your complaints, every one of them, right here and now." He said, again, more quietly than before. Nervous glances ended up thrown around the outdoors. A lone man stepped out. Agape recognized him as the one the people trusted to voice their complaints, and their wishes. This guy had guts!

"The people demand peace, your majesty." He began, humbly. He took a small bow toward Agape, at which he returned the favor. "They wish for correction of your mistakes, they yearn for a loosening of control." The man continued. "I, Benjamin Lake, am a witness of their wishes." He finished with the grandest of smiles. Agape nervously shuddered, and hoped Athilos would hear his thoughts. "What do I say?" He thought, as fast as he could. For then, he put a hand underneath his chin, as if he were to be thinking.

Athilos's eyes widened at the sudden cry of the king. He truly hadn't expected such an outburst. Although, he was quite happy that the outburst wasn't in insult but rather, admiration. His eyes softened slightly and a small smile twitched on to the specter's face.

He listened carefully as Agape spoke to the people. He was quite happy that he was finally asking the people and listening to what they thought, even if most were too afraid to speak. He had seen such a genuine change in such a short time and was genuinely impressed. He hadn't thought it possible, for someone so deep in their own ego, in their own head, to change with the blink of an eye.

He nodded slowly as Benjamin spoke out about the opinions of the people. He understood what was being said. It was quite true. Being a monarch, it is understandable to rule over the people of the kingdom, but there is a point where sovereignty goes too far and becomes a dictatorship. It wasn't a pretty sight. Guillotines were no longer dormant, blood repainted the flags of nations, screams became battle hymns within all fronts. Nations crumbled, only bitter memories and regret was left behind.

He leaned into Agape's ear and whispered: "Don't make any decisions too hastily, tell him you will speak with your advisors about it."

Agape nodded, as if he'd come to the decision all on his own. "Alas, I'll speak with my advisors on what you all need, and thank you, Benjamin." He said. This was unnatural. This wasn't like him. The faces of the populous revealed that quite evidently. "I know it seems strange, but this kingdom might change soon, for the better." He tried to promise. His eyes shone with pride, the same pride that he had before then. But it felt different, better. He tossed a small gold coin to a child in the front of the crowd, who picked it up and smiled a toothless smile. She smiled back at him, the first one he'd seen in months.

With a nod, the king turned to keep walking. He wanted to tour more of the city. With this attitude, heck, he could go anywhere. His steps were faster, more in tune with the world. His figure slowed him down, but less now. "You know, whoever you are, you deserve to be one of my advisors. How have I not appointed you yet? Aye, if only I knew your face. But I know I have to be patient. Patience is all you demanded from me, aside from kindness and a change." Agape said, to Athilos. He didn't know where to speak to, but he knew he heard.

( Thanks! Also, I hope you can get through whatever you're dealing with. )

( Don't worry, I'm patient, and kind of really on a sugar high, it's okay, it's okay. )
