”I missed you too, my daughter.” Charles said softly.

She let go of him and jumped at Evan hugging him tightly

“Whoa!” Evan laughed as he happily returned the hug. ”Hi!”

"hi!" She said

”How have you been?” Evan asked, still smiling at her.

" good good! How are you?' she asked

”Better now.” he told her. ”It’s been a bit crazy telling everyone about the truce but most seem pretty excited for it.”

" better? Now? How?" She asked

Evan blushed at her questions, realizing what he said. He glanced very briefly at Lysander and shook his head at Betty. ”It’s nothing. Just… Being King, I don't really get much time to relax or spend with my friends and family.” he told her.

"Ah well. . . Where's my husband" she asked and turned to look in at lysander " there he is " and hekd his arms out to him

Evan chuckled at the abrupt change of topic as he let go of Betty.

Lysander felt a weight lift as his wife turned away from the other man and gently hugged his eternal love.

Betty hugged him back barrying her head in his neck

Lysander smiled softly and kissed her temple.

She smiled against the skin of his neck at the gesture

Lysander held her a little tighter.

She nuzzled her nose into him

As much as he wanted to hold her like this all night, they did have guests. He sighed and pulled back a little. ”Can I have the first kiss at midnight?” he asked softly.

She smiled " I assure you the answer to that will always be yes" she whispered

”Thank you, my love.” he smiled back and kissed her cheek.

She smiled and faced the others

Everyone had finished following Henry's lead and placed the food or drinks they brought on the table.

Lysander was soon being hugged by his mother.

Betty looked up the stairs hoping laurabeth wasn't having a nightmare

”Everything alright, Bets?” Henry asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.

She nodded with a smile

Henry smiled back and gave her a one-armed hug. ”I think you already know this but… I wanna ask Tyler to marry me.” he whispered softly. ”Do you think… will it be ok if I ask her tonight?”

Betty's face grew pale she coughed choking on her own saliva

”Whoa. Are you ok?” Henry asked, clapping Betty on the back a couple of times to help her breath again.

"Henry can I have a word outside" she said

”Uh… Sure.” Henry nodded. ”Am I in trouble or something?”
