“I know I will. It always feels like I’m counting down the days until they’re done.” Wilhelm chuckled softly. “But it’s always so worth it in the end.”
“I know I will. It always feels like I’m counting down the days until they’re done.” Wilhelm chuckled softly. “But it’s always so worth it in the end.”
He smiled, and nodded. "Mm. Yer…pressin' them, right?"
“I am. Right now I’m pressing a few grasses, along with a couple other things I could scavenge for.” Wilhelm explained, sitting back on his bed.
Connor nodded. "Huh. Cool." He replied with a smile. "That sounds fun."
“It is fun!” Wilhelm chirped in agreement, his eyes lighting up. “They last for ages, which is my favorite part.”
Connor smiled. "Yeah. Ah've seen them before. They're gorgeous."
Wilhelm nodded again, running his fingers through his hair. “Very.”
(my dad just said that Pete Buttiegeg was in his sixties…and I was like 😬)
He rubbed a hand over his face, letting out a breath.
(i- hooh boy)
Wilhelm glanced at Connor for a moment, trying to decipher if that was potentially a negative movement.
(yeah lmao. I mean…my dad is a Republican tho, so)
Connor gave Wilhelm a quick smile. "So. Anything else going on today?"
(twins lmao)
“Not that I can think of, no. My homework’s finished and I got what I wanted to get done.. done.” He stretched. “Why?”
(? Not sure what you mean by that lol)
Connor shrugged. "Just curious." He replied with a smile. "Oliver thinks ah should do sports and ah laughed at him." He chuckled. "Ah'm too tiny for sports."
(ah sorry! just meant my dad’s a rep too lol)
He chuckled softly. “I think you could do just fine if you really wanted to, really. If you want to play here, the nice thing is that we don’t really have sports teams, just clubs. Well- no, we have an official track team, but still.”
(ohh haha lol)
He shrugged. "Still. Ah'm too small fer sports, Wil. Ah've tried before." he smiled a little.
“Alright, alright, I understand.” Wilhelm raised his palms, backing off. “But it wouldn’t kill you to find some extracurriculars. They’re not too bad here.”
He sighed. "Ehhhh. Ah dinnae know. We'll see, ah suppose." He touched his ribs absently, testing where they had been broken.
Wilhelm nodded, falling quiet again. He ruffled up his curls. “Uh- I think I’m going to go sit in the common room for a bit.”
Connor nodded. "Alright. See yah." He replied with a smile. "Ah'll probably be in here."
“Mhm.” Wilhelm nodded, returning the smile. He picked up one of the books he was reading at the moment, giving Connor a small wave and walking out of the dorm.
Connor waved back, then went back to looking at his photos once Wilhelm was out of the room. He began to hum softly as he looked at the images of his parents and himself as a child.
Wilhelm dropped into his normal chair. There was no fire burning in the fireplace, only a sooty hearth and piles of ash at the bottom. Bonnie, that small dog, tottered around the room as she sniffed out rodents.
Connor took a deep breath, and kept looking at pictures.
He quietly called the dog, letting her hop up into his lap as he read.
Connor brushed his pinky against the picture of his mom. "I miss yeh, mama." he whispered, then wondered how pathetic he looked, sitting on his bed and looking at pictures of his dead mother.
Wilhelm hummed softly to the dog, trying to remember songs that his own mother used to sing to him as a child. He took a break from reading to pet the little animal, trying to lull her to sleep.
He clenched his jaw, swallowing. He knew what any other boy would say, if he saw Connor sitting here like this. He knew what they would say about him.
The little yorkie was quickly fast asleep, though chances are it wasn’t from Wilhelm's quiet crooning. He went back to his book, not yet taking a hand off of the dog.
Connor took a deep breath, letting it out through his nose. "Christ." he muttered.
The rest of the common room was fairly quiet as well. There weren’t many people who were in there, and if they were, they were busy doing their own work. It was nearly silent, save for the occasional page-turn and scratch of pen on paper.
(gtg now, sorry!)
Connor kept paging through the album, letting out a slow breath.
