“A fight circle..” Danny repeated to himself incredulously, voice sounding incredibly tired. “Sorry I gotta keep getting up, ha. You know how it is, though, when all your siblings got the same amount of testosterone as a teenage boy. Only thing these kids can do is fight, seems like.” He laughed, ruffling up his siblings’ hair.
"I…don't know, actually, but don't worry about it." He replied, shaking his head a little bit. "I don't mind all that much." He gave a smile, looking at Danny and the two kids.
“It’s a very specific phenomena.” Danny laughed. “Thanks for bein’ patient, though. It helps a lot. Swear, won’t have these little goblins next time we meet up, okay?”
He smiled again. "Yes, it is rather specific." he replied with a nod, sitting up on his elbows. "And alright."
Danny yawned, rubbing his eyes. The more you looked at him, the more apparent it became that Danny looked exhausted. “I have a break from gigs for the next few days, thank god.”
"Oh, that's good. Get some sleep, Danny, you look tired." Alex said with another smile, looking at the werewolf.
“Yeah, yeah. I’ll try it, but I’m kind of stuck awake since I’m the one takin’ care of the kids half the time.” Danny rubbed his eyes. “Maybe I’ll try to pawn them off on Hugo or somethin’ ‘n crash at Fraser’s place, I dunno.”
He nodded a little bit. "Alright. I'd offer my babysitting skills to help, but I have none, and it would lead to disaster, so no."
“Even if you had any, I don’t think I’d say yes. The beasts’d kill ya in a heartbeat if you let ‘em gang up.” Danny shrugged. “Pack mentality or somethin’.”
He nodded again. "Ah. Makes sense." he ran a hand through his hair, looking at the kids for a moment, then at Danny. "Which is a little terrifying, just…by the way."
“Eh.” Danny shrugged. “You wanna show him your teeth, Kit?” Danny grinned, looking down at one of the kids. The child, apparently elated at this chance, bared their jagged teeth and snarled, though it was a weak noise.
Alex shuddered theatrically, then gave the little werewolf a smile, showing his own dull, normal human teeth. "Your little siblings could kill me." he repeated.
“Easy, killer!” Danny tugged back his sibling as they tried to lunge forward at Alex. “Yeah, they could. Not like, one of them. Maybe all 6 or somethin’, but if I leave you with only one, even during a shift, best they could do is go through a finger or two.”
"I am very attached to my fingers, Danny." Alex said, rolling his eyes jokingly. He shrugged his shoulders.
“Fingers. What are they good for, really?” Danny let out another of his sharp, hyena-esque laughs. “Not a whole lot, when you really think about it.”
"I use them for quite a lot of things." he argued. "Like writing, and texting, and…" And holding my dad's hand because he's too fragile for hugs now even though he used to be one of the strongest cops on the force.
“..Fair. Okay, maybe they’re somewhat useful.” Danny relented, nodding in acknowledgement. “You make good points.”
(i should probably go to sleep rn, so goodnight!)
He shrugged his shoulders, laughing a little. "I'm a writer, Danny. Of course i do."
(ok. Good night!)
“Yeah, yeah.” Danny held his hand up, out of the reach of his sibling. “Jesus, kid acts like we don’t feed him.” He laughed, shaking his head.
He grinned at Danny, watching the werewolves. He didn't know the proper response, so he stretched, leaning back on the ground again.
“Hey, uh- I should probably take these kids home soon.” Danny said after a few minutes, after letting the kids run back to the little group.
"Alright." He replied, sitting up again to look over at Danny. "Well, it was nice talking to you again."
“Yeah! Man, we gotta like.. plan somethin’, instead’a just runnin’ into each other all the time.” Danny stood, picking up his siblings. He whistled sharply, calling the rest of the children over. “I’ll text you or somethin’?”
He laughed. "Yeah, we do need to plan it next time." He replied, smiling. "And yeah. Text me. Though I can't guarantee a quick answer."
“Don’t need a quick answer, don’t worry about it, man.” Danny nodded, doing a quick headcount of the werewolves around him.
(i just got the idea for like.. maybe a high school reunion? what do you think?)
(ooh yeah that might be fun!)
(Also I've been thinking at some point that Alex ends up like… calling Keats, and then in the morning he contacts Danny and he's crying and nearly unintelligible and like just asks if Danny can come over bc he doesn't have anybody else and he doesn't wanna be alone or something idk lol)
"Alright." He stretched, standing up. "Maybe we can meet up at like…that diner again or something?" He shrugged.
(yeah! we can do your idea before mine, if you want! i’m gonna develop mine some more, because it’s a little half-baked rn lol)
“Oh, yeah! That’d be nice.” Danny nodded, giving him a small smile. “Just gimme a time and date, I just have to check to make sure it’s actually somethin’ I can spring.”
(alright! Haha sounds good.)
Alex nodded. "Yeah, of course. Though I can't promise I won't have to skip out on you. My dad is…getting worse."
“Hey, nothin’s ever set in stone. Keep me updated on his condition though, alright? Gotta make sure you’re doin’ okay.” Danny rocked on his heels. “But man, it’s always family first, I’ll understand.”
He nodded a little. "Yeah. Thanks." He ran a hand through his hair. "He's got…we think maybe two months? I don't know?"
