Kissa rolls her eyes.
I doubt the idiot even knows how to throw a real punch.
Gabriel glares her way again.
Kissa, oh my word. Shut up.
Ben raises an eyebrow at Sil, mildly worried but not willing to approach after her freak out that morning. He keeps his mouth shut and blinks, suddenly wishing he could turn himself invisible like Gabriel.
Cage bites his lip, the awkward silence killing him, “uh, want food, Sil? It’s really good.”
Silver put her phone away and nodded to Cage, running her hand through her hair with nervous energy. "Yeah, I do. I'm starving. Thanks." She walked into the kitchen, still clutching Gabriel's hand and pulling him with her.
Gabriel follows Silver and tries his hardest not to gag at the sight of the food.
Ben crosses his arm and leaves the kitchen, sitting himself in the chair furthest from the kitchen in the living room.
Cage blinks at his food.
lowkey awkward. Is she still angry?
Silver gasped and let Gabriel go. "Oh, I'm sorry! I forgot you were there." She dished herself up a plate and glanced back at where Gabriel was. "What are you gonna eat?"
Gabriel shakes his head although she cant see him.
Im fine. I’m not eating this.
Violet rubs a hand through her hair with a sigh, looking over the awkward and anxious group.
Kissa stands. “I’m going outside.”
Silver paused and glanced around the room, finally feeling the permeating anxiety. She glanced from Vi to Cage and finally to Ben, hiding at the far end of the living room.
"What's… what's wrong?" She asked, frowning.
Violet presses her lips together, forcing a short smile. "Nothing, Love. Would you like some cookies after supper? Ben made some earlier. They're on the stove." She turns, giving herself something to do.
Gabriel awkwardly rubs his arm, blinking at Ben.
Silver glanced between them all again, only her eyes moving, the rest of here body frozen.
My family is so weird, what's going on?
"Sure. Vi. Thanks." she said, realizing she needed to respond before she made things weirder.
Is everyone freaked out because I'm still annoyed at Ben???
"Hey," she said, calling across the living room to Ben. "Thanks for supper. And the cookies." she gave him a nod and slowly retreated in the direction of the library.
Ben doesn't make eye contact, blinking a little at the book he's picked up and is 'reading'. He gives a small nod though so she knows he's not ignoring her.
Violet watch Silver go back to the library and places a few cookies in the microwave for a couple of seconds. She softly sighs.
"Where is Miki? The house is oddly quiet without her."
Silver made it back into the library and paused. "Oh shoot." she muttered. "Gabriel? I was going to get some trail mix for you." she set her plate on a table and headed back to the kitchen.
Gabirel stands, confused.
Does she just always assume I'm with her? And if so, why does it freak her out when I become visible?
He shrugs and sits beside a shelf.
I guess I don't care that much. At least she knows I'm always here.
Violet sets aside Silver's cookies, catching sight of her as she returned for the trailmix. "Do you know where Miki may have gone? I mean, I guess she's not in danger, but I'm still worried."
Silver grabbed a back of trail mix from the pantry and her cookies. "I have no clue. If she's been gone this long and her phone's dead, she might be in town or something, but that means she would have walked." she shook her head. "I'm kind of trying not to think about it."
Violet nods. "Alright. I wont mention. But if it gets to late I'll drive into town and see if I can spot her." She gives Silver a soft smile.
Silver nodded and jogged back to the library. "Gabriel? Here. You need to eat something, since you don't like Ben's food." she walked around the library, peeking behind pieces of furniture, until she was sure he wasn't visible anywhere. Then she started feeling in all the corners and chairs and weird places he might be hiding, invisible.
Gabriel gives her a weird look, turning visible.
She looks so weird when she does that.
"Ben's food is fine." He lies in a mumble.
She smiled at him as he became visible and came over to him. "There you are. Here." she handed him the bag. "It's okay, I know you don't like eating normal people food." she got her plate and sat beside him to eat.
He takes the bag, but kind of just stares at it blankly.
"You okay, Sil?" He whispers, his voice scratchy like normal. He slowly peels his eyes from zoning out at the bag to blinking at Silver.
Silver paused, her mouth full of food, and looked at him. Slowly she finished chewing and swallowed. "Yes?" she said. "Yeah, I'm fine. Why? What's wrong?"
He shrugs, slowly becoming transparent until he's altogether invisible. "Nothing."
You don't seem fine.
Silver watched him fade away and looked back at her plate. "Are… you okay?"
Am I ever.
He almost smiles at the question, but is too tired. "Always." He sleepily replies.
Silver frowned at him for a moment and then continued eating. "Seriously, Gabe, is something wrong?"
He leans against her chair. "No, Sil, I'm good." He blinks slowly a few times and quietly yawns.
Silver finished eating and put her plate on an end table, turning to look and where he was, even though she couldn't see him. She reached out and found his shoulder, then stroked his hair. "You're so strange, Gabriel."
He closes his eyes, finding nothing else to say.
Cage sighs, twirling a cookie on his plate. "Is Miki in trouble? Have they seen her with us?"
Violet pours herself a glass of milk. "I don't think so, Love."
She heads towards Ben and sits next to him.
Silver snuggled down into her chair, her wings billowing over each side, and fell asleep with her arm stretched out, hand touching Gabriel's shoulder.
At 12:36am, the front door creaked open and Miki slipped in, carefully closing and locking it behind her before shrugging out of her coat. She ditched her shoes by the front door as well and tip-toed into the dark kitchen.
Silver stirred in her sleep, her subconscious noting Miki's presence. For another moment she stayed asleep, and then her eyes flew open and she bolted upright. "Miki!" she yelled, and pelted out of the library. "MIKI, IS THAT YOU?" she shrieked.
Gabriel barely stirs in his sleep, curling up on the floor.
Cage, runs/stumbles to the balcony railing, half asleep, “Miki’s back?!?” He rubs his eyes, blinking.
"Silver!" Miki squeaked, meeting Silver at the edge of the kitchen and slapping her hand over her sister's mouth. "SHHHH!! Everyone's asleep!"
Silver tore her hand away. "Where have you been??? I tried to call you but your phone–"
Miki silenced her again, this time bracing her other hand on the back of Silver's head so she couldn't get away. "Shhhhhhhh!! I was in that dead zone in downtown with no reception."
"Mhmmhmm?!?" Silver mumbled beneath Miki's hand.
Cage smiles sleepily, leaning against the balcony railing. "Miki? Where were you??"
Violet yawns, propping herself up and staring at the bedroom door. She blinks in confusion at the loud chatter.
Ben is already sitting up against the backboard of the bed. "Miki is back." He explains.
She rubs her eyes. "Is she alright?"
He shrugs. "I'm sure she's fine. Otherwise Silver would be a lot louder."
Miki looked up at the railing and sighed, releasing Silver. "Well, if you've already woken everyone then it doesn't matter if you keep yelling." she said, turning back to the counter. "I went to town. I wanted donuts."
Silver blinked at her. "You left all day because you wanted donuts?"
Miki nodded. "Yeah. I was dying for those strawberry jam donuts from that place in town." she held up a paper bag. "I brought some back for you and Cage."
Silver took a deep breath. "You walked to town?"
Miki stared at her. "Yes…?"
