Caleb froze. "You're- … You're in labor?? Why didn't you call me?!" He was already running out the door and into his car. "Who's with you right now? Please tell me you took someone with you."

" lizzie and my sister are in the waiting room" she said

"I'm driving down now. I'll be there soon. Do you want to hang up or do you want me to stay on the phone?" He was now driving down the roads at 5 mph over the legal limit as he tried to take some deep breaths to calm himself.

¨I think im going to have another contraction¨ she said

"Deep breaths. It'll be over soon. Hang in there. I love you. You're a strong woman Briar." Caleb was half-way to the hospital. He wished she had called him when she first started having contractions. She didn't need to always not bother him. It was his fiancé. He was supposed to be there for her, but she wouldn't let him.

" I'm sorry I didn't call you I didn't want to bother you" she said

Caleb sighed, "You really need to break that habit. You know I don't mind at all when you call me, no matter what I'm doing. Especially when it's something as big as your going into labor with our second child."

" sorry" she muttered

Caleb just replied, "It's all right. I'm almost there, just a few more minutes. How many contractions have you had so far?"

" Nine" she said

Caleb let out a low whistle. "Are you still in the waiting room?" he asked as he pulled into the parking lot, looking for a space to park.

" I'm already in the room" she said

Caleb parked. "I'm going to let you go. I'll be there soon. I love you. Hang in there."

" I love you too" she said

Caleb hung up and quickly got out of his car and ran into the check-in, quickly explaining who he was and a nurse guided him to the room. He thank the nurse and went in, immediately bee-lining for Briar's side.

Briar screamed in pain at a contraction

Caleb bit his lip and just knelt by her bedside, slipping a hand into hers, squeezing gently to let her know he was there for her.

Briar looked at him with watery eyes

"hey." he said with a soft tone and smile.

¨H-Hey¨ she stuttered.

Caleb stood up and bent over her to kiss her forehead. "You're doing amazing sweetheart…"

¨Ẅ-where are you going¨ she asked in a whimper

Caleb smiled. "I'm not going anywhere. It was just easier to reach you like this. But I think I'm going to drag a chair over here." He let go of her and quickly grabbed a chair and set it next to the bed, sitting and taking her hand again.

she whimpered once more closing her eyes

Caleb gently brushed her hair out of her face. "You're doing beautifully, Honey…"

Time passed and Briar held a beautiful (boy/or girl up to you) in her arms

(What did she think it was? Boy? It's that, I guess.)

The little baby was squirming, trying to get closer to his momma's warmth.
Caleb was absolutely melting, sitting on the bed next to Briar, an arm around her. "He's so tiny…."

" he's precious" she said stroking his wisp of Baby hair

Caleb kissed Briar's cheek. "He has your nose." He said, booping hers, lightly.
The baby started whimpering softly before begin to cry, but not very hard.
Caleb quirked an eyebrow. "Is he hungry?"

"probably" she said
