Nyx looked up at Jude, biting his lip a little bit. "So I'm not…less?" He asked slowly, unsure if Jude would understand what he was asking. I'm not less human?
Nyx looked up at Jude, biting his lip a little bit. "So I'm not…less?" He asked slowly, unsure if Jude would understand what he was asking. I'm not less human?
"Less?" Jude smiled with his eyebrows slightly raised. He slowly led Nyx's hands to his waist, looking down at his bright blue eyes, "Nyx, you're more."
Nyx looked up at Jude nervously, eyes searching the other male's. "I…am?" He asked slowly, not quite sure if he could believe Jude.
Jude nodded slowly, not breaking his locked gaze. "You are," He quietly told him, not knowing if he'd be able to tell him just how he could be the purest reflection of humanity.
Nyx bit his lip again, lower lip caught between his teeth. "Okay." He said simply, accepting Jude's words. He wrapped his arms around Jude, leaning against the other male's chest.
Jude wound his arms over Nyx's shoulders, sighing at his soft grip around his sides and resting his chin on the soft tufts of his dark hair. "Anyway, what do you think of the music?" He asked, acknowledging the record still playing.
Nyx shrugged a little bit. "I don't know." He replied softly. "I don't have much to compare it with." He stayed snuggled up to Jude.
"Well, how does it make you feel?" Jude asked, running a hand through Nyx's hair and softly smiling. "Oh– water's boiling," He pipped, slowly pulling away and moving to look for pasta in a cupboard.
Nyx let go when Jude pulled away, leaning against the counter a little bit. "I don't know." He replied softly, shrugging his shoulders.
"Hm," Jude sounded as he measured out enough spaghetti for the two of them and putting it into the boiling pot of water. "–It's just that…the happiest time of my life came from taking note of everything I felt," He shrugged, remembering the hours of conversation between him and another, describing everything in the room and how it seemed to them; soft, rough, puzzling, beautiful, 'It's beautiful,' and 'why is it beautiful?'
Nyx nodded a little bit. "Oh. Well…I don't know." He said again with a faint laugh. He ran his hands through his hair, looking at Jude. The happiest part of his life…and it had nothing to do with me. He thought with not a little jealousy.
Jude shrugged, stirring the sauce with a wooden spoon, "I just wanted to see if you had any thoughts on it, I guess; since I'm always runnin' my mouth on what I know about whatever," He laughed, "I talk a lot, is what I'm saying. I wanna know what you think too."
Nyx shrugged. "I…want to wait to learn more before I start running my mouth." He replied slowly.
"Hm. Well, you'll learn plenty while you're with me," Jude smiled, sorting through some spices and picking out the ones he wanted, "Like– oregano," He laughed, and held up a little jar of dried leaves, "It's nice in Italian food."
He laughed. "Oregano. A joyous occasion. I have learned of a…spice." he replied teasingly, dead pan. He chuckled.
"Fascinating, isn't it?" Jude said in a posh British accent, chuckling and holding it to the light like it was a foreign specimen, "A remarkable discovery. We must alert the printing presses!"
He frowned a little bit, not really understanding the reference. He tipped his head, studying Jude carefully.
Jude smiled and sighed, sinking his shoulders at Nyx's expression, "–Nevermind." He shook his head and shook some into the sauce. "Come help me with this?" Jude chuckled, nodding at the fragrant sauce as he stirred the boiling spaghetti.
(gtg. Idk if I'll be back)
Nyx nodded a little, coming closer. "Sure. What do you want me to do?" He asked curiously, looking up at Jude.
(all good~)
"Could you just stir the sauce occasionally and put in a few more spices?" Jude asked, moving to a cupboard and pulling out two ceramic plates that he'd made himself. "The pasta's almost done, so I'm gonna set the table."
(Back for a bit!)
Nyx nodded, and did as Jude had asked. "Alright." he replied softly. He went to stir the sauce. He swallowed lightly. This would be his first time eating something that wasn't a tasteless protein paste, and…he was nervous.
(oh shoot whaddup)
Jude set out the cutlery and glasses of water on the dinner table and moved back to the kitchen, preparing a strainer in the sink. "I think we should add a little bit of pepper," He smiled, looking over Nyx's shoulder and searching his little spice rack for it.
(Not much lmao. You?)
Nyx blinked. "Alright." he said simply, glancing at Jude for a moment, then at the sauce again, still stirring it slowly. He took a deep breath.
(procrastinating. i have 3+ tests this week & ive barely studied.)
Jude sprinkled in some ground pepper, kissing Nyx's cheek on his way to the pasta. He turned the burner off and lifted the pot of pasta to the sink, pouring it into the strainer. "Ooh, we can't forget the parmesan–" Jude chuckled, glancing at the fridge over his shoulder.
(oof lol)
Nyx smiled a little bit. "I…I'm a little nervous." he admitted shyly. "I've never had…real food before." he bit his lower lip a little, looking at Jude anxiously.
"Well–" Jude smiled, turning to better face him, "I want you to relax, even though I'm so excited for you." He ran his hands through Nyx's hair, "We'll put a new record on in a minute and…hm, I don't know if you can have wine but anyways, yeah. Your first dinner, here we go."
(might have to go soon idk)
Nyx cocked his head a little bit. "Why wouldn't I be able to have wine?" he asked curiously, then nodded. "Alright." he kissed Jude's cheek softly.
(ok~~ goodnight if you do)
"I don't know, how will your body react?" Jude wondered out loud, getting some grated parmesan out of the fridge and turning the stove off. "My dad has wine-country friends and I have some good stuff, but I want to know you'll be okay to have it."
(thanks :) gotta go in about seven minutes, actually)
Nyx frowned a little bit, tongue tracing the inside of his lip as he thought. "Hm." he shrugged his shoulders. "I…don't know."
"Hmph," Jude bit his lip, smiling and serving the pasta onto their plates. "As much as I would love to see you wine-drunk…I care about you, unfortunately." He chuckled, putting the sauce and parmesan on top of the spaghetti.
