Aliana started by drawing a raven, the words the mad hatter said were still ringing in her ears. She needed to get them out, even if on paper.
Aliana started by drawing a raven, the words the mad hatter said were still ringing in her ears. She needed to get them out, even if on paper.
Hatta was quiet, closing his eyes for a moment.
Aliana was silent minus the scratching of pen on paper from her drawing. She paused for a moment to see the nightmarish picture taking place on her page.
Hatta opened his eyes, watching the fire.
Aliana looked over at Hatta letting out a deep breath before looking back down at her drawing. She saw ravens, heads, blood, darkness, clocks, but more importantly, she could make out the faint outline of the monster of her dreams. She took another breath before ripping the page out crumpling it up not caring as her hands got covered in fresh ink before throwing it into the fire. She felt some sort of sick satisfaction as she watched the paper smolder and burn.
Hatta watched the paper burn, frowning a little bit.
Aliana let out a shaky breath and curled in on herself. She was careful not to get any ink on her clothes but closed up her notebook.
Hatta watched her for a moment, then sighed softly.
Aliana looked up to Hatta and asked him softly, "Can, can you tell me a riddle? Or a story? Something to distract me. Please."
Hatta blinked. "Oh. Yeah. Give me a minute."
Aliana gave him a nod and bit her lip in waiting.
Hatta spoke slowly. "The more you take, the more you leave behind. What am I?"
Aliana thought for a moment about the riddle. She stewed for a moment before saying, "Time?"
"Footsteps." he replied with a grin.
"Oh," Aliana said with wide eyes, "That makes more sense. Tell, tell me another."
Hatta smiled. "Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday?"
Aliana thought for a moment before snapping her fingers seeming to brighten up slightly, "The weekend! Right?"
"Nope. Yesterday, today, and tomorrow." he laughed a little.
Aliana groaned slightly, but she was smiling, "Darn it. I was close though, kind of."
He chuckled. "Mm. Sort of."
"The weekend is three days, right?" Aliana sugested before shrugging, "Can I get another riddle?"
He shrugged. "It…isn't, though." He replied. "the weekend is two days."
"Friday," Aliana responded to him, "It can be counted sometimes."
He frowned a little. "Mm…maybe."
"Yeah, can you tell me another?" Aliana asked him with big eyes.
"A doctor and a bus driver are both in love with the same woman, an attractive girl named Sarah. The bus driver had to go on a long bus trip that would last a week. Before he left, he gave Sarah seven apples. Why?"
"Because it would keep the doctor away," Aliana was proud of herself for knowing the answer to that one so quickly.
He smiled, and nodded. "Yeah, exactly."
Aliana grinned at him, "I'm glad I got that."
He smiled again. "Mmh."
