Zeus plopped his head in her lap.

She continued to pet the dog with a smile. "Hey baby, I didn't forget about you."

The doge seemed to almost smile in response

She giggled softly, continuing to pet.

“Yup you’re definitely his new favorite.” Jax said, sitting down at the foot of the bed.

"I wonder why." She rolled her eyes with a sarcastic smile.

Jax chuckled a little in response. “Wow she’s got jokes”

"Thank you, I'll be here all week." She bowed dramatically and instantly regretted it, hissing in pain.

“Careful. Don’t want to open up those wounds more.” He said worriedly.

"Yeah yeah, I got that." She rolled her eyes, gripping her side. When she pulled her hand back, her fingers were red. "Dammit."

“Well fuck. And I just patched you up too. Come here, let me have a look.”

"No, I've got it. This one is a frequent problem." She stripped off her now intensely bloodied shirt, seeing the temporary stitches she'd sewn ripped open.

Jax stayed back, but he was very clearly worried about her. “You sure you don’t need help?”

"I'm very sure. Just get me a needle and suture thread and I'll be fine."

He sighed. “Fine.” And quickly got her what she needed.

She quickly took it from him and sewed up her wound without even flinching. "There. Better."

He had to admit that he was impressed by the fact that she just did it. “Damn, you really are tougher than you look aren’t you?”

"Years of physical abuse makes you pretty immune to pain." She shrugged.

“Preach.” He replied with a sad chuckle. “You’ve definitely moved to the right town then. All of us have some type of issue in our lives or just issues in general. I have too many which is basically why I run the place.”

"I second that. Now shut up and kiss me before I get too depressed."

“Can’t make me.” He said with a teasing grin.

She raised an eyebrow at him with a smirk. "Can't I?" She pulled him down by the shirt collar into a kiss.

Jax just accepted his fate and kissed her back, a small smile appearing on his lips.

She relaxed into him, letting the feeling of his lips wash her mind away.

After a bit he pulled away, pulling her into a hug. “You sure you don’t want to rest? You’ve had a long day”

"Only if you promise to stay with me. I'll have nightmares if you leave."

“I’ll stay. If that’s what you want. Now scoot the heck over woman, I need space.”

She rolled her eyes with a smile before moving over and finally laying down.

Jax scooted over next to her. Zeus was on her other side, apparently taking up as much room as he wanted.

She rested her head on his chest, smiling softly as she let her eyes close.
